Texas-Vanderbilt Game Thread

So, I've been restrained with my comments on Ewers play. I've only said a couple of times he doesn't have "IT". I still stand by that. I want him to succeed!

However, I'm very conflicted REALLY stating on HF some thoughts and opinions on him.

Nobody cares about my .02. My opinion won't fix anything but just piss off some posters. So I won't comment, for now.

I see serious trouble ahead....

Final score definitely reflected this stat sheet.

If Quinn doesn’t change the way he is playing today, Manning is going to replace him by the end of this game. I’m being serious!
Some missed by snark - I was hoping Quinn’s spectacular 1st half was going lead to a blow out.

I thought that 4th down TD pass by Pavia was lucky like we would see from TT or OSU as it found its way through 3 Texas defenders. Also the roughing the passer play that negated a Texas INT was bad luck as well.

WorsterMan,I will say it for you. I have not been a QE fan and I do not think we can win it all with a 1 dimensional QB. He may be a great kid but He is not a great QB. He cant throw a long ball. Most of the yards hemakes on plays or short passes which the receivers make him look good. I cant see us beating A&M and pigs with him. If he gets the time he throws a beautiful pass. WIthout time he falls apart.

Vandy is better than Michigan and OU.
No offense, Dion, but neither or those are as good as Duncanville or Northshore. That was NOT a good team Texas embarrassed themselves against.
A mid level zone on 2nd and goal. Coach K knows better.
11, No he doesn't. He has demonstrated time after time. Scared me to death when he goes soft zone on the goalline with four DBs 7 yards deep. But he can keep the ball in front of them. With our athletes, and their "athletes", why would he play zone at all? Man up and smack em in the mouth. Change the coverage on the goalline from man, but not with four DBs sitting with the band.

I have never read an entire game thread or even part of one. This game should have been 42/45 to 7. It wasn't. I have now watched 6 years without a RT. For years I've told God, "please before I die, let me have a QB that can read a defense". He finally gave me VY. I got greedy and asked for a LT, and He gave me Banks. Now, I guess I'm being greedy, but I'm asking for a RT.

Some of you people that watch the games on TV (Chop), please answer this - has K ever run a zone blitz before today? I don't remember one, but the one time today worked pretty damn well.

Chop, before today did Vernon do something to get put in the doghouse? I saw very little of him on TV until the roughing call - at least he got his money's worth, although I didn't think it was targeting.

Again, no win should be disappointing, but this came damn close. To keep morale up, I hope the coaches don't grade the individual performances.

We have regressed on offense. We underachieved against OU, didn’t show up last week, and struggled unnecessarily today.

While to me Quinn is a big part of the problem — being one dimensional – the offensive line has been a disappointment recently, and we’re killing ourselves with penalties and missed assignments.

With the elite talent we have on that side of the ball, the underachievement we have been witnessing recently is very troubling. If it doesn’t get fixed immediately, there’s going to be an awful lot of disappointed Texas fans, very soon.

I think the relative lack of Vernon Broughton today can be attributed to the rotation. I noticed Lole a lot today and he was making some plays. Norton didn’t seem to be in as much today as Vandy isn’t a power running team.

Over the year, Vernon has probably been our best interior DT to date. Didn’t notice him much today though. I know nothing of him being in any doghouse. And the targeting call was really weak/marginal IMHO.

I guess I trust in Sark more than you. I don’t think he’ll lay blame on the O-line. He’s more of a “ buck stops with me” kinda Coach and he’ll correct the O-line, and all other aspects. If not, we’re in trouble imo.
I trust Sark a great deal. I have lost a great deal of trust in the O line

Back from game, great time with family tailgating and such.
Have to say we are not a championship team. We do have some championship caliber talent but overall we just don’t have the grit, power, determination, whatever it takes to put away less talented but gutsy opponents. I knew we’d miss Sweat and Murphy on D and some offense (thanks Moore for you first half performance) but hoped it wouldn’t look like this.
Duke, there are already a lot of disappointed fans that recognize reality. Love my Horns but don’t think we’ve got what our early blowout wins lead us to believe. Vanderbilt is a gutsy team with a talented determined qb but they’re not a top team. We should have had an easier and more dominant time today.

I think it would have led to a blowout were it not for the penalties in the second half that killed our drives
True Cary, but if a frog had wings, he wouldn't bust his a$$ every time he jumps. The penalty situation has gotten worse as the season progresses. It should be getting better, not worse.

When your weaknesses are being exposed, you commit penalties because your *** is getting whipped. You can't block, so you hold instead.
