TEXAS-KSU Game Thread 2023

Two points about the KSU game.

1. I accept an interception or two each game, but Murphy's seemed to be of the stupid kind which is a little harder to ignore. He also had a few other bad throws that very well could have been intercepted. When he gets shook up he doesn't seem to be able to really step-up and take control. I add this up to inexperience now but hope to see improvement in this area over next few games. I understand the team really loves the guy so he should have the runway to keep getting more experience.

2. The secondary seems to be as bad as it has ever been. Has #28 JT been in the secondary 10 years? The fact that he is still playing tells me we have a lack of talent. Then add the fact that we almost never blitz also seems to scream our coach must reason that we need every player possible down field trying to defense the pass play.
He just doesn't seem to know where downfield they should go. No quick fix here.
 
My absolute confidence in our beating OU next time we play (assuming we made it to championship game) has diminished dramatically. They may not make it anyway.

This. It seems like Fark is his own worst enemy. he tries to blow it in 80% of the games we play. It’s just fortunate we have a lot of talent.

we suck in the red zone dude. Everyone knows it. So just Take the FGs when you are up by 17 and give your team a litttle insurance. No reason why this should have gone to OT. And We’re lucky Kansas decided to try to put the game away.

Any way were 7-1. We’re only a few plays away from being 5-3. I guess I’ll take that over the opposite. we keep dating teams to upset us and they will , though.
We might be the most talented team in the country but we’re damn lucky to be 7-1 and be a top 10 team.
 
We missed a lot of players for all or portions of this game. The missed interference call was huge. Not long ago, we lose this game. This was a top 23 team we played, not scrubs. AND every team is making us their bowl game. They hate us for leaving and they hate us foe being UT.

Murphy may not run because of the back problems, I don’t know. From his hs highlights he takes some time to get going so it might not be a great option for him.
 
Sark can’t afford to lose another qb by having him run.
Everyone is correct by saying murphy could’ve had some big plays by pulling the ball and running.

Here's one way to look at it.
We were up three scores at 17 to zero .
Kick a field goal and we're still up three scores at 20 to 0.
Make that first down and go ahead to score a TD and we're up four scores.

Nothing is going through Manning's mind. He and his family knew he wasn't playing this year unless there was a complete qb collapse. Go back to all my notes during his recruitment.

Good point. Manning didn't come here for the opportunity to qb a team to the cfp. He came here to ride the bench and watch that shitshow Murphy put on today.
 
Maalik is not running because he is slow and Sark doesn’t run QBs. And we have the best RB in the country. I don’t know how many times that needs to be said. Some on this board thought we’d gotten an upgrade at QB. Some more respect needs to be given. A lot more. Rumors are QE may be ready next week. Last meeting in Fort Worth and first road start for Maalik is not optimal.

Literally, every single passing game coordinator tries to design plays that will isolate a WR receiver on a safety. I dont care how great the safety might be, with run support/double coverage responsibilities, that is the ‘be still my heart’moment that every OC begs for. It is a stationary player trying to throttle up to overtake a receiver at mach speed. When that happens, it is essentially a blown coverage.
 
MeatHead,When you have a QB that runs it opens up your pass and running back.Most successful teams have a QB that is capable of running.I understand Sark doesnt care for a running QB. Maybe that is one reason he hasnt been a top tier coach in the past (my opinion). I have been watching Texas games since late 50s and have seen quite a few successful running and passing QBs.

We don't want a buyout. We need him to stay, don't need to play them next year with a decent coach like Elko leading all that talent.
