B.C. again goes to the pen. This time, it's Dave Laufer versus our 4-5-6 hitters.
Rupp is up. He's 1-8 with six strikeouts. He sends a 0-1 pitch to deep left, but it's not long enough. One down, Loy up.
Loy squares to bunt again, but since our offense can't do a simple thing like bunt tonight, he instead takes a strike. He fouls the next pitch and now trails in the count, 0-2. Loy swings meekly for strike three and it's two away.
Clark (2-for-8) up. He lines a 1-1 pitch down the left-field line. This is gonna go for extra bases. He reaches second standing up and we've got another runner in scoring position.
Maitland was up, but Augie is gonna call on Kevin Lusson to ipinch hit.
Lusson takes a pitch low for ball one. Laufer misses low for ball two. Next pitch well outside, count is 3-0. Next pitch intentionally walks Lusson. Jordan Etier to pinch run for Lusson. Rowe up, two on, two out.
Rowe goes down on three pitches. And yet another wasted opportunity with runners in scoring position--still not a single hit. This is worth than pathetic. I think I'm done.
So what is the longest college baseball game ever played?
I remember in the late '70's or early 80's Texas beating Rice in the SW Conference tournament in like 17 innings. Jery Don Gleaton hit a homer a few innings early to extend. They stopped the game and came abck the next day to finish I think. The RIce pitcher (Alan Ramirez??) pitched like 16 innings that game.
