Official Spurs 2007-08 Season Thread

Arnold, I make no apologies for the refs - granted they were horrible. But I'll take your comments one by one:
1. A 15-0 free throw deluge does NOT mean the refs are biased. Sometimes one team just does a lot of reaching in and also is out of position and makes mistakes. Such was the case last night.
2. At the end, the clock was reset from 1.4 to 2.0 seconds and that was simply the refs judgment as to the proper time when the ball went out of bounds after Elson's block. Reasonable minds can disagree (I did) but they try to do their best - even though, as I said above, this was a weak crew.
3. Giving the Mavs the ball at mid-court was the correct call - the clock had not started and the ball had progressed from the end line almost to midcourt. Again, a judgment call so they took 4 seconds off the game clock and 4 seconds off the shot clock and gave them the ball, properly, at midcourt where and when the ball had progressed. Them's the rules, like it or not.

I'll confess that I didn't watch the ENTIRE game, but what I did watch was the Mavs getting away with mugging and the Spurs getting called for ticky tack hand checks. I'm not calling the Mavs thugs because I don't really believe they are, but they got away with much more physical play than the Spurs did. In the end, though, Nowitzki was nowhere to be found.

Hubie Brown is really starting to get on my nerves. EVERY time a foul is called on the Spurs (whether it's a good call or a bad one), he IMMEDIATELY says, "That was a good call..." and explains why it was so amazing. But nearly every time a foul is called on the Jazz, he explains why it was a bad call.

Manu with 37 for the second straight game! Bonner takes up the slack for Timmy with 15 points and the Spurs win again!

I enjoyed the graphics showing the Spurs as the winningist franchise in professional sports over the past 10+ years at .700+ winning %. And, obviously, the winningest in the NBA in the last 10+ years by a longshot (LAkers #2).

The wins this week were very gratifying, BUT it's only December.

Go Spurs Go!!!

SA will win the title in 2008 and threepeat in 2009. 2010 is up for grabs though.

With the 2009 title, they have 6 of the last 11

1999 Spurs
2000 LA
2001 LA
2002 LA
2003 Spurs
2004 Detroit
2005 Spurs
2006 Miami
2007 Spurs
2008 Spurs
2009 Spurs

this means Shaq/Tim have won 10 of the last 11 titles.

A league of big men.

Matt Bonner leads the Spurs with 23 points and 17 rebounds (

) as they try to fight back from the abyss at Golden State. An abysmal second quarter (the Warriors outscored los Spurs 30-12 in the frame) and led by 16 at the half. Looks like rough sledding up there tonight. I'm not getting the game up here in Dallas, I don't think.

looks like duncan and parker both out tonight. washington called up from the toros, should be interesting what he can do tonight after tearing up the d-league.

The Lakers took advantage and pressed all night. Lots of turnovers + no TD or TP = L.

But it's not even rodeo time yet. All is well, remain calm!

That was actually a pretty strong team effort last night to keep the game that close with Timmy and Tony on the bench and Manu having a poor game.

Doesn't have much to do with the on-the-court product but some ultra-hot model is claiming to have had an affair with Tony Parker. (FYI: She's hotter than Eva.)

We're gonna need pics of that, C-man.

Spurs looking flat tonight. Down 20 in the 2ndQ.

Losing to this guy:

Rudy Gay made a tough shot over Duncan... I have to give him credit on that one. There is no way I thought it was going in. Gay has improved a lot. The announcers were getting so excited as the spurs made there run and tied the game up... then they got really quiet as gay hit the shot, it was kind of funny.

GO SPURS GO!
