Official Spurs 2007-08 Season Thread

The Kings are on FIRE tonight and the Spurs are jacking up way too many treys.

Sacramento shot 55% from the field tonight and went 21-23 from the FT line. They probably won't shoot that well again all year. Udrih probably won't have another game like this in his CAREER. 8-12, 9-9, and 2-2 for 27 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

beno was waived by the twolves right after we traded him. the kings picked him up and he has been tearing it up in reggies theus' offense. he had 27 tonight and i think he had like 35 vs the pistons last week.

and this guy couldnt get off pops bench.

The Spurs had no juice in the second night of a B2B on the road. That was just one of those nights on a long schedule in the NBA.

Beno's problem in SA never was talent. That is why Spurs fans are so down on him -- he never lived up to the potential he showed during the first half of his rookie year. Beno's problem was that he wasn't a hard worker, he kept getting injured in training camp, his attitude sucked, he didn't hustle on defense, he ate too many tacos, he spent too much time chasing latinas in the crappy SA bar scene .... and he embarrassingly couldn't get the ball across the timeline in the finals against Lindsay Hunter. Sac is the perfect place for him to thrive. He can get a ton of minutes on a ****** team (at least while Bibby is hurt), and run up his numbers in a contract year. Nobody will notice when he has a bad game.

I will also say that his driving and 1 layup last night to seal the win and the subsequent chest bump with Brad Miller was easily the lowlight of the young season.

Spurs over Wiz tonight, 109-94

30 assists on 43 FGM, only 7 turnovers

Good basketball.

P.S. I thought the Wiz played pretty well tonight, Caron Butler didn't take near enough shots. Good defense by Bruce certainly, but I thought the Wiz did a poor job of getting him the ball. He's a beast. Deshawn Stevenson sucks.

Nice win over the horrible TWolves last night. Closed the game on a 40-11 run. Manu was 7-9 for 3's.
"With a young team, it takes a while to build that confidence, and know what each other is doing on the court, and know where people are, who defers to who, what the pecking order is," San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. "That takes time. We're older than dirt. We figured that out a long time ago."

****, we have Dallas and Utah this week, too.
I like what Brandon Roy said:

Roy said Duncan's absence could have been a turning point for Portland, but that they didn't take advantage.

"They (the Spurs) turned it up," Roy said. "They got better.
Tim went down and we stayed right where we were."

--------------

This could be that oppurtunity for some of the other players to get some time in, and try some new lineups, which will payoff in the Finals next June.

What the freak were the Spurs doing in the last minute of regulation tonight? Turning the ball over, bombing 3-pointers, giving up offensive rebounds, and sending the Mavs to the line nearly cost us the game. The good news is it only nearly cost us the game. Spurs beat the Mavs without Timmy!

Still undefeated at home with an inspired performance against the Mavericks. Manu goes for 37. Me likey.

Tony has really come into his own and when you combine him with Manu, with no Duncan, on a very good night for them, they can beat a Dallas team that still can't count on Dirk, even when the officiating was horribly biased in favor of the Mavs.

I'm not a Mavs hater, but if I were a Mavs fan, I would be pissed at Dirk. Other than missing the last shot (by a lot) where was he?

Nick, the officiating wasn't biased at all, just terrible both ways. That officiating crew is probably the weakest in the league, especially with Bennett Salvatore as the lead. And the Spurs, for the most part, played inspired defense, which is why Dirk wasn't a factor. And Tony dribbled entirely too much - when he got the ball to Finley, that made all the difference in the game. And that's my thumbnail analysis. Go Spurs!

********, it was 15 to 0 in FT's at one point in the ******* 4th quarter. They put extra time on the clock for the Mavs, they gave them the ball at midcourt when it should have been in the backcourt. All that crying from Cuban has had it's intended effect.
