Last Ever State Farm Lonestar Showdown

This is not looking good at all as the Aggies are about to get 2 more matches and are ahead in the third one. This could be costly to us in the final cup standings.

Chen hanging tough, ties up at 5 after being down 3-5. Come on, Chen.

A great job by the men's tennis team to get us this valuable point in the competition especially by Mr. Ben Chen who fought back to win his match and give us this winning point.

Right you are 88 it is now 9 to 3 and we are one point from winning the cup this year.

Our Women's Tennis team goes to CS this coming Tuesday and hopefully can win it and cinch it for us. Go Ladies! Fight and Win!

What a great win for mens tennis to send off aggy in style once again! One more point and I like it to come this week with womens tennis but if not both golfs will be favored as will softball. Headed toward a dominant finish in this final showdown on the order of 13-6 or 12-7.

EXCELLENT photo. The arms outstretched in victory are an extension of the mighty horns on the front of his shirt. Nothing like an enraged and victorious Longhorn!!!!!

Our Women's Team loses to the Aggies at CS 3 to 4 to get the State Farm Lone Star Showdown point and make the score 9 to 4 overall. I knew the Aggies would be tough but with the way our ladies had been playing lately I was hoping they could cinch it tonight. Oh well. Hopefully soon we will get that last evasive point.

The competition will be decided on the period starting next week from April 27 to April 29 with four points of the six left being decided in Men and Women's Golf, Softball and Baseball. We must get at least one of the four points that weekend to win the cup. Our best bet is the Men's Golf team and hopefully they will be playing their best. I don't know if our baseball, softball or Women's Golf team can get it even though I hope I am wrong. If the Aggies sweep these 4 points it will still be us ahead at 9 to 8 but on May 11 to May 13 the Ourdoor Track and Field Teams will be competing and the Aggies right now own us in those sports. Therefore if at the end of April 29th we don't have that 10th point we may as well ship the trophy to Aggieland and it will be theirs to keep for a long time and $Bill will be bragging for years.

Come on Horns! Someone please get that 10th point.

both softball (04/26) and baseball (04/27) start with a game at College Station and finish up with two games in Austin. I'm pulling for one of those two squads to supply the tenth point with men's golf putting the exclamation point on the win.

Bab you and FW are both optimistic and I hope you are right. Forgive me everyone for letting my disappointment tonight to interfere with my focusness. We are in great shape and must maintain the focusness next week to win this cup again. In fact I have had to remind myself tonight that we are ahead 9 to 4 and if anyone told me back in August of last year that that would be the score at this time I would have quickly took it. So let's stay focused and work on the synergy to win this cup. Our teams can do it. Go Horns! Fight and Win!

Funny, at the beginning of the year I expected a split of tennis just going the other way than it did. Like Bill if you had said Texas 9-4 at this point in September I would have asked what you had been smoking and taken it in a heartbeat.

Mens golf is an overwhelming favorite and is our firewall for the tenth point but I am reasonably confident that we take womens golf and softball too and baseball is about 60-40 aggy but earlier in the year it was about 90-10 so that point is becomming more of a toss up. I still like Texas to win this thing 12-7 or even 13-6.

yep, I probably am a bit too optimistic when discussing how Texas will do in sports. But I like our three pitchers in softball and how well they are supported with timely hits. Sure hoping they can pull two of three out of the hat.

Well this week and weekend will decide it. There are four points left available this month and we need to get just one of them while the Aggies must get all 4. I will post times and what tv network is scheduled as of now but please double check your tv guide and news because they are subject to las minute changes.

Softball

4-26-12 at CS starting at 6 P.M. ESPN2
4-28-12 at Austin starting at 12:30 P.M. FSN
4-29-12 at Austin starting at 5 P.M. LHN

I still think that the Softball point will be on a 2 out of 3 basis like baseball but State Farm hasn't addressed this yet or at least not on their web site. Still if we can win 2 out of 3 we will be all right I think.

Baseball

4-27-12 in CS starting at 6:35 P.M. Fox Central Sports
4-28-12 in Austin starting at 2:30 P.M. FSN
4-29-12 in Austin starting at 2 P.M. LHN

Men's Golf will be April 27-29 in Trinity, Texas

Women's Golf will be April 27-29 in Lawrence, Kansas

Regarding the 4 points available here is my analysis and each one will be tough to get.

Men's Golf - At the Aggie invitational the two teams tied for second place which is a concern but not as big as our best golfer who is one of the best in the country did not participate as he was at the PGA Valero Tournament. This is Jordan Spieth who should make a big difference for us. I give UT the definite edge on this point but they must play well and not have a bad day like last year.

Women's Golf - A definite edge to the Aggies. The Aggies beat them by 10 strokes in a tournament earlier. Even though they are favored our Ladies are capable of taking it. We will see.

Baseball - I am like FW. I would have said earlier the Aggies would take it but the odds have improved. I give the Aggies the slightest of edges but if the good UT shows up they are capable.

Softball - I was concerned about a late season slumps but if the good softball team shows up I favor us by a slight edge.

Now let's go get that point and get that cup Horns. You can do it.

Those that can go to Trinity and Lawrence and show our Golf teams some support. Also do the same thing for our baseball and softball teams especially when they play in Austin and we have the advantage of both of them playing there over the weekend.

Go Horns! All for One - One for All! Hook 'em!

Well, so far golf has pretty much sucked. the women are seven shots back of aggy through one round, the men are 12 shots back through 2 rounds and neither appear to really be poised to do much. Softball got run ruled yesterday and baseball hasnt started well tonight.

This could be an epic collapse from 9-3 up to losing the last 7 points.

really surprised to see softball collapse like that. But I thought mens's golf for sure would step up. Really need one of the teams to bring it home this weekend.

Men's golf is like softball - typically good for a choke job to end the season behind ATM, often lesser ranked. Women's golf cannot be counted on against any opponent and softball, well, the Longhorns are doing what they do best under Clark.

I cannot understand how UT retains such mediocre coaches for so damn long. Don't the people in Belmont give a **** about losing regularly to the likes of ATM and Baylor?

Texas is zero for the weekend against ATM: 0 for 5. Baseball, softball, men's tennis, men's golf and women's golf.

This has happened several times the past few years.

I would like to see one of these teams turnaround and take down the aggies in order to avoid complete embarrassment.
