Horns vs Bears thread

We have the players otherwise we wouldn’t have built these leads. Just need a better coach to understand how to deal with passion and desire instead of just focusing on execution while the other team has elevated desire.
Under the right coach this team would be undefeated.
What has happened is that the other team gained momentum in the 2nd half in the last 3 games. Momentum makes players faster stronger more determined, more enthusiastic, more hope and belief and more likely to win.
We needed good things to happen and didn't.
We needed a leader to make a play to thwart momentum and gain our own.

Feel bad for them but two players — two receivers — really made the difference today. Critical drops by Moore & Washington, and Moore’s tip and fumble were all game changing plays.

Remember the many posters here after the ou loss, couldn't wait for "the rematch "? Think about how ignorant that is now. Seriously. Stop and think about it

And sark was leading the song by hinting he'd like to play them again down the road. Lmao

CDC is in a bad spot after this hire. He's a likeable guy but in the end, no one likes a loser. This hire was critical and he blew it

Yeah, can’t imagine a rematch with OU. It would be a massacre. Oh well, we should be used to this by now. Shame on us.

I'm still more focused on the missed opportunities in the 2nd quarter than the latest 2nd half struggles...
But this "Bears" repeating....

Texas had these 2nd-half leads its last three games: Texas 38, Oklahoma 20 Texas 24, Oklahoma State 13 Texas 21, Baylor 10
It went 0-3.

From around the midpoint of the 3rd, OU outscored us 32-7, OSU 19-0, and Baylor 21-3.

That's a combined 72-10 over what amounts to only slightly more than one full game in length. So basically, once the 3rd quarter hits the halfway point, we are Rice or Kansas.

Right..agreed..but today we could have put ourselves in a WAY better position by capitalizing on a very opportuned 2nd quarter and maybe just maybe avoided it.
I'm guessing Baylor would have been a very different team and felt differently if down by 18 or 21 instead of just 11.
I mean...this isn't ou. :/

Not much of a consolation, but we only lost the 4th Quarter 3-14. Each of the last three games there has been 4th Qtr improvement. We have no depth, the JJones, DOkafor, and JWhit injuries sunk us because we have little behind them. Washington is good, but has key drops late! Maybe we find a way to get a win in Ames next week! Just tie the 4th Qtr for crying out loud.

Well what if Sark recruited a better QB and a better o-line and a few better receivers.
Wouldn't that help.

Better o-line I agree because that's the one area recruiting has suffered. We have a 5 star QB on the bench and a slew of 4 star receivers who suddenly can't catch the ball even when it's right in their hands. All those play makers we recruited here didn't just suddenly become bad players.

I dont know why we under perform every single year, but it sure isn't recruiting problems.

Just back, three things:
1) NOBODY fears the Horns, nobody, and why should they
2) our Oline is soooooo weak,
3) losing three games like this has to be a hit on coaching,
And 4) you have to catch the da** ball even when it’s a hard catch.

boy this is getting old and we don’t have anything easy coming up. As exemplified today WVa and ISU don’t quit.

The fake punt was a Charlie Strong level dumb call. Not sure why he thought we could make that. Desperation.
One of the problems I saw there was that it looked initially like he was going to throw...THEN he tucked and tried to run AFTER telegraphing the fake.

Had he tucked and ran from the get go, I believe the lane was there. It would have been close, but I believe he crosses the line to gain if not for the pseudo-arm pump...

Yes I’m sure because I listened to the post game radio show and Sark said he called it himself!
I stand corrected.
That was total desperation and unnecessary. We would have them pinned deep. Don't know what score was at that moment or time left but that was a 7th grade coaching dumb decision. I am bewildered. At least call a pass for heaven sake or keep the offense on the field. That would have had a better chance

Card is a four star and is not mentally ready. Recruiting classes can sometimes be misleading
So Sark deserves a chance for a couple of recruiting classes to see if he can get a real class or two.

Brilliant hindsight call

Pluss, look at how many players portaled out of here the last year or two.
Sark has one recruit here. Worthy.
He's pretty good.

It's the coaches job to change that. If that means benching players then do it.
He may not have enough players to change to. Lets face it,Saban couldnt win with this group. You can see them give up. Maybe it is the attitude of the players we are recruiting,or is it an attitude they learn when they get to UT?

I agree with your main point, but what is the evidence that Card isn't mentally ready? That he went down for several sacks under ridiculous immediate pressure from Arkansas when our OL couldn't block? That's not a mental inability. Everyone kept posting, "replace him, he's getting rushed and sacked." But Thompson looks like that on practically every play, and there's never this narrative that he has some mental incapacity. I'm not picking on Thompson; I'm just saying that we haven't learned anything whatsoever to detract from Card being rightfully one of the highest recruited QBs in the nation, one who won the starting job as a freshman just 2 1/2 months ago and played very well on the field except for the Arkansas game.

Agree. The team is none of those things. They remind me of a young man who still hasn't figured out how to seal the deal. Remember folks: this is a brand new staff, with a brand new system, in the midst of their first season. Patience!
QB is lacking an in game football IQ, multiple plays where he could pick up the first and instead threw into coverage.
