Horns vs Bears thread

My guess is Sark called it and it was throw if open kick if not. It wasn't open but Dick thought he saw something and decided to play hero ball

Dicker appears to have screwed it up. Agree with @RainH2burntO above.

Remember when the dumb *** Stoops called a fake punt late in the third quarter in 2008 up by one point at midfield? 4th and 6. Different talent blah blah blah, but Dicker, a senior, should have kicked the damn ball.

Fake punt call is lack of confidence in your defense late in games which is justified. That’s assuming sark made the call. Fake punt in the 4th quarter on the 50 yard line while down is not going to fool anyone. Element of surprise is crucial for successful fake punts. Could have been for dicker to throw if wide open or punt and he messed it up. Who knows. If not, if going for it I would much have my offense attempting to pick up 11 yards than the kicker.

That's what i said.
I also said that a 7th grade coach would not have made that decision.
At first i thought the punter obviously did that on his own. But later i found out the play was called. What?!
Now there are decisions that spring from faith and hope, wanting to catch the opponent off guard. But fourth and 11 just 3 points down and nine minutes left?. Isn't pinning them down deep and maybe getting a 3 and out a much better decision? Did he make that decision out of desperation? Did that decision come from a dark place? This concerns me. Is the pressure of winning getting to him? Was he grilled in the press conference afterwards?
I suppose that the opponent scoring 3 successive touchdowns coming out of halftime was pressuring. I can understand that. So i know that he didn't want to give the opponent the ball. But a fake punt on fourth and 11?

Oh trust me, i want Sark to succeed, badly. Ive got high notions of that. I feel we are on the cusp of being a top ten team based on the recruits we are going to get and his creative play calling.
But that decision was piss poor.
Am i seeing small a crack in the dam?
I don't believe Dicker made the decision on his own one iota. When a player that doesn't get multiple touches per game hears, "if you see it open up, go for it", in reality the only thing they hear is, "go for it". Any coach knows that.

And people were pooping me for saying Sark is making the same stupid decisions and TH. Poop me somemore if you want, but that was flat out idiotic. It gave baylor an easy TD and the game.

All I know is he is a pretty talented kicker...but a poor actor.
Looked like he was looking to throw from the moment snap hit his hands.
Never sold the "kick"
Oh well, his punting has been pretty good, and as much as we punt that is a good thing!

What I don’t get is:

1. Very conservative play calling in the second half

Juxtaposed with…

2. The fake punt - a riverboat gambler move.

That's very conservative play calling 3 straight loses after a big lead. You'd think he'd learn. Guess he's just as stubborn as TH which doesn't bode well. It's like damn dude, learn your lesson. Fortunately I said screw football and went fishing and got 11 nice bass with a big of 5lbs. Nothing under 2lbs. Life's too short to watch this crap. After 3 losses there was no reason to watch a 4th.

Where'd ya go?
