I agree mostly. The sequence as I interpret it was:I’m a big Casey fan but IMO it’s time for a change. Start Card. Shake things up. While Casey isn’t responsible for the drops and the fumble, his inability to use his legs on critical plays hurt us. And his inability to lead us down the field late in the last three games to a possible victory is what it is.
Im not saying that Card will be any better. What I am saying is that after leads and late collapses in three straight games, it’s time for a change. Card may do no better. He can’t do any worse.
1) Card beat Thompson out before the season
2) The overall team and OL (as we have come to know them) showed themselves in the Arkansas game, and created the false impression that a more mobile QB, even less accurate as a passer, would not be overwhelmed like Card was
3) the Arkansas game so sucked our soul out that it was also good to make any change, and CT seemed like he had more leadership skills
4) now, as the ship is sinking all around, CT doesn’t really have any leadership remaining, so that’s not a factor, and CT hasn’t been able to overcome the jailbreak OL either—not sure anyone not an all-American dual threat player could
5) So, not as a discipline or punishment to CT, but just as going back to the guy you thought was better in the first place, may as well play Card now. He will maybe get sacked a little more, and hit a few more receivers downfield, and the result will be about the same.
