I still think the infection rate for H1N1 was faster -- in the same time it took COVID-19 to reach 10,000 infections in the US, H1N1 was at 1 million (2009).
But the WHO says the rate is increasing

Not too surprised. We're hearing outrage about the travel ban, and that is nothing more than political correctness taken to a suicidal level.
 
Doctors in Taiwan attempted to warn the WHO of human-to-human infections in December but the WHO hid the reports at the behest of China

Health officials in Taipei said they alerted the WHO at the end of December about the risk of human-to-human transmission of the new virus but said its concerns were not passed on to other countries.

Taiwan is excluded from the WHO because China, which claims it as part of its territory, demands that third countries and international bodies do not treat it in any way that resembles how independent states are treated.

The WHO’s relationship with China has been criticised in the past, with some accusing the organisation of overly praising Beijing’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak despite allegations local officials had initially covered it up....."​

Lots of pundits think China is still lying and covering up how bad things are over there. I heard one guy say that the virus is nowhere near contained in Wuhan. He said the government ordered businesses to turn on their lights so that things would look normal, but it isn't even close to normal.

Apparently the male mortality rate in Italy is twice that of females.
So if you are male, of a certain age, with Type A blood then you might want to take even more extra caution than everyone else.

I communicate directly with a few people in China. Schools are still shut down. Office workers are in the office half the time. Manufacturing is starting back. Didn't realize it was shut down, scary. Haven't heard about retail stores.
