Good question. How does Bobby allow this....someone to register for multiple premium accounts and illegally cut and paste information from our confidential premium board onto another site?
You expect and demand confidentiality on Geoff's "Inside The Forty Acres" board, but our community doesn't get the same confidentiality? Is that ethical on your part?
I think the next step for the Webbiter boys is to develop NSA proof code to communicate with the rest of their cult.
I can see it now - buzzing from unrelated chat room (like the lame singles chat on citysearch) to unrelated chat room - Al Qaeda-style - so they can privately discuss what a bunch of morons they are.
No. I tried that, actually, because I wanted to just see if htere was anything interestig about any UT recruits.
It didn't work. I was e-mailing Bobby B about the other Rivals screwup of my account, asked him about it and he told me that Websider doesn't allow you to access it, even if you pay extra, even for just read-only material.
You have to get an entirely sepearte account, or something like that.
Honestly, when you go over there, you are going to just laugh your *** off for the first hour. Take some time to read through the threads -- even the ones that don't look like they were written after the bunker door closed.
they're tricking all of you w/ this "experiment". this is like the Jerry Springer show. you know it's pathetic, but you just can't resist having a look. it's very tempting. just look at how some are already wanting to register just to see it.
i think those guys are idiots, but i'm almost tempted register for their premium site. if i can laugh half as hard at what i read there as i have at this thread alone, $5 seems like a small price. i'll resist however.
i have a feeling they're going to make some $ off of you guys. this might be the funniest thread i've ever read. i'm still laughing...
rp- w/out "cutting and pasting recruiting information", can you tell us what some of the goodies are? now you've really peaked my(and probably some others) interest. give us some the goods please.
is this going to be a "top 5 class" for aTm?
is Winston just playing TX and really a "secret commitment"?
is TX about to be under "investigation"?
what TX commitment are going there on a secret visit?
what out of state recruit will come in late. the one who RC is "keeping quiet about"?
AZ saying Darrin Johnson decommit a good thing because they don't have to "slow play" Tristan Walker now.
AZ saying Brisco decommit good because no they can get Willie Andrews.
Plus, some stuff not from AZ or Hop -- insane crap about how VY stinks and they will dominate forever. About how incredible their class is. About how Rivals is against them. Plus, they don't have a laugh at your Rival attitude, but an utter hatred over there for "tu" (when there are no "tu" people to correct them over there) -- some of these guys are probably serious freaks in real life. Also, Hop, AZ and the others keep tying to convince themselves that it will be "close to impossible" for Marco to come back from his knee injury -- of course, not in a wishful way (in fact, they think the shot was really cheap), but their total blinding of reality (E.G., Wane blew out every ligament in his knee TWICE) is kind of scary ($100 says he is back in two years after a redshirt with zero noticeable limp, and might not even be wearing a brace).
That was what I could remember off the top of my head.
This is the funniest thread of all time. It is great seeing the Ags falling apart right in front of us. If McNeal de-commits, expect a complete shut down of all aggie websites. rpongett: you rule.
justhookit- they usually announce on their site when they'e going to have them. it's primarily when there is recruiting news for them. you should visit. it is absolutely hillarious.
rp- ah, i see. let me get this:
-docommits are now a "good thing"
-they have no RB's committed, they've offered seven, and they're "slow playing" the only one still seriously considering them.
-they offer Briscoe and not Andrews, but now that Briscoe has decommitted, they're getting the guy they really want.
-Vincent Young is not a very good QB.
-Marco Martin is finished.
-their recruiting class is "incredible".
-they're going to dominate.
i'm suprised there were no posts about how Mack Brown was lying to recruits, or leaving, or our assistant coaches leaving.
i'm also suprised there was no discussion as to how we were cheating in recruiting or about an impending "investigation".
if it's anything like their chat, i would have assumed there would be the "we're in great shape" on(name longshot recruit) or how they were going to finish this class w/ Winston, McCullough, McDanial, Leitko, Walker, and a "suprise" recruit RC is keeping quiet about.
i wish i could have seen it myself. it sounds like it was well worth the price of admission for comedy purposes.
rp- i'm glad to hear that. really glad. i've worked VERY hard to obtain such status. i haven't reached the legendary status of BobR, but damn if i'm not close. i actually think Ketch, tmgr, matt8027, Exciteable Boy, and a few others are getting up there as well. i think i'm firmly the second most hated poster over there. warms my heart.
true, they don't like you. you haven't worked as hard as some of us yet though. posts like this and conduct like yesterday will get you a long way however.
For the record, their big recruit still left on the board, Tristan Walker, just got back from a trip to Central Florida. He really liked it there. Walker is now trying to decide between Central Florida, Colorado State, and Texas A&M. Tough decision for the kid. Good luck to him.
On a semi-serious note, one wonders how big a market there is out there for an A&M guru.
They have a huge fan base of well educated rabid football fans.
I really don't know anything about AZ, but my guess is that he appeals to some of the more cazy old-school guys (ones that adopted the "red-***" tude passed down from when it was an all-male military school).
Kidding aside, 90% of their fans, I'm sure, are perfectly reasonable and think these Websider guys are nutso (actually, the ones I know think that).
There's probalby some serious coin to be made if somenoe decided to do an A&M site for recruiting and football info out there. Obviously, you'd take a pro-A&M slant -- you have to with any school-oriented fan site -- just not so crazy and not with the attitude that every sleeper is dynamo bad-*** while your rivals are bringing in overrated chumps (nevermind the offers from Florida, Miami, FSU and even A&M).
rp- that's a good point. in my opinion Alliance Sports is not wise having that as one of their school sites. the question is who or what site then? for every episode like this, the Bob Morton incident, etc., i've got to think the higher up personnel at Alliance Sports absolutely cringe.
if they could have gotten Billy Luichi to run a site, i'm assuming they would have a long time ago. apparently he's happy w/ his subscription service and 900# however. what else is out there? you're right that they have one hell of a large fan base, and could they find the right people they could make some serious $. it's a difficult group to appeal to however. they have so many factions of fans. have you noticed how each aggy site consistently disagrees or talks **** about other aTm sites. if you haven't seen it, trust me, it happens regularly. here's the crowd.
websider- this is the site where no matter how bad things are going, they tell everyone things are going great. any discussion stating otherwise is deleted. ANY mention of anything related to TX is immediately deleted and the user banned regardless of the content. their attempt is to keep everyone feeling good. they have numerous **** ups(too many to count), but that's to be expected considering the personnel running the site.
agtimes.com- this is the true bitter "red ***" group of which you speak. it's headed by TO AG and his followers("Team"). this is a smaller group of fans. unlike the websider, who realizes when things are in the shitter but refuse any mention of such, this group actually BELIEVES everything is ok. if you read over there, they really do think they can win the National Championship next year. they are dead *** serious. however, it is unlikely this would be a very appealing site for a large group of fans. it's almost a separatist group. man, they do hate TX there though.
12thFan.com- the most rational group on the net. i actually kind of enjoy the group over there. don't get me wrong, they're no TX fans, but they're capeable of rational discussion. the only problem is this is also a somewhat smaller group and seem to like it that way. i don't know that they would be interested.
The Insiders- Max Emfinger. i can't believe they took that guy. they'll find out soon enough if they haven't already. i give this site a year before it's gone. one visit ther and you'll realize why the #'s are so low.
Texags.com- good old texags. actually, believe it or not, this would probably be the best choice. HUGE # of posters. numerous opinions. various cross-sections of fans. strange place w/ a hell of alot of posters, at a known address. who to do the recruiting updates/stories is the question? i'm guessing Rivals.com tried to make this the aTm site originally, but the asking price was too high.
The problem is that Rivals wants a guru -- not just a BBS (like Agtimes.com or Texags.com).
The three out there now are:
(1) Maxey E
(2) Lucci
(3) AlanZ/Hop
Max - has credibility issues, but seems like a hard worker. When the INsiders financially melts down in a few months, he actually might not be horrible to bring in (dipolomatically -- like when they had LSR, Garvin and Scarborough) to replace the nutcases.
Lucci - Seems like the one most on top of things BY FAR. His 900# cash must be awesome. Also, getting realistic: he probably likes that AZ and Hop run the Rivals site -- which would explain the bond there. A large portion of the subscriber base (which are, admittedly, an educated rabid football fan lot) probably turns to Lucci and his 900 line for info more because of the Websider nutcases.
AZ/Hop - pretty tireless workers, but these guys are off the deep end. Way too much juice to work with the clinically sane. When someone stable rolls around to replace them, I think they are headed for pasture at Agtimes.com with Jamey, TOAg and the rest.
The best of all worlds for Rivals would probably be to:
(1) Somehow bring in Lucci; or
(2) Bring in a different new guru altogether (or maybe even Max), and combine it with Texags.com (make it the A&M Rivals site BBS) to give it credibility. They could rebrand the whole thing Texags.com
