She’s also following the Texas softball page so I guess we’re just waiting on the announcement at this point. Great detective work @hookem4eva

I'm not sold that Joley Mitchell is coming to Texas as a Grad Transfer. Why would she come to Texas when our infield is pretty rock solid at each position. And that doesn't include Alyssa Washington as the back up SS/3B. Agree Wash only batted .239 for the year in 42 games played. After she got hurt she was not the same player she was early in the year or the year before. Left Field is really the only spot open and I can not imagine she would consider coming as a DP. Plus you have to consider we have Katie Stewart, a power hitter, and Ryan Brown, a power hitter coming in with the Freshman class that should be great DP hitters. Kayden Henry is coming in as a top 5 player (outfielder) in the Nation per EAS and Katie Stewart is ranked the #2 catcher in the nation. Joley would be coming in with expectations to play on a daily basis unlike Baylee Brandon did last year. I would love to have the batting average come in but?? Coach White's philosophy has always been since he's been here is "You hit, you play" but not sure there are enough bats to go around. We at Texas have never had such a wealth of talent in this program. But we do need a stud pitcher and I'm still hoping for a top transfer. After doing some more intensive research. I no longer think it is Kelly Maxwell nor Alana Vawter which is a bummer because we had good offense this year, it was just our pitching. We were missing that dominant pitcher this year like we’ve had with Dolcini, Elish, Davis, Luna, Osterman. I really hope the pitching gets better. I still think Sophia Simpson is the best pitcher on our roster if she would just be more consistent and not look so nervous all the time on the mound. It’s amazing how she led the team in strikeouts but had less innings than everyone. With us returning everyone back in the circle and gaining a top freshman recruit who is a strikeout pitcher, I hope she actually comes in and dominates like a freshman (Canady, Meylan, Pickens, Hurd)
Now back to my research. I noticed a player from Notre Dame retweeted Mike White’s tweet. When I went on her Twitter, I saw she retweeted things about the portal. She was also in the portal. Her name is Joley Mitchell. She led Notre Dame with a .382 batting average with 10 home runs and 11 doubles, starting all games at 3rd base. (Maloney hit .382, Scott hit .377, Martinez hit .346, and Goode hit .325). Joley has 2 years of eligibility left I believe. I’m 70% sure this is who the tweet is about. If it is, I’m not sure how I feel. I haven’t heard her name at all during the season. She did make first team all ACC and was first team NFCA in her region. She has hit a double of Danielle Williams from Northwestern. She hit a double and home run off of Cassidy Hurd from Duke. She has hit a home run off of Emma Lemley from Virginia Tech. She also has hits of Kathryn Sandercock and Makenna Reid from Florida State, Stevie Hansen from Oregon, and Chenise Delce from Arkansas so she’s had success against good pitching.
Overall it wasn’t a bad pickup. But I preferred a dominant pitcher. We hit .325 as a team which was great. But our team 2.39 ERA hurt us. None of our pitchers ERA was under 2.

I also would find it to be a strange addition considering the talent we have coming in and what we currently have. I think our biggest need in the portal is a proven pitcher who can be that work horse. I just don’t think it’s a coincidence that she enters as a grad transfer, some of our players start to follow her all at once, she retweets Mike White’s tweet, and she follows some of the Texas longhorn pages. Not to mention Estelle’s mom also followed her and vice versa so all the signs are there but I guess we’ll see how it plays out.I'm not sold that Joley Mitchell is coming to Texas as a Grad Transfer. Would we equate her to Courney Day? In terms of expected contribution? She's coming to Texas
"the team" ?Texas mentioned as the team in the running for Vawter. I really hope Texas can pull her in. She is exactly what this team needs.
I worded that wrong. Not the favorite but in the article Texas is the only team mentioned due to her being commited to us once before."the team" ?
You seem to have insider info lol can you tell me where Maxwell is going.I was right about Joley. I’m 90% sure that P Alana Vawter (Stanford ) and Jocelyn Erickson C/1B (OU) are headed to Florida. Vawter makes sense because all of Florida’s pitchers transferred out or graduated. They currently only have two pitchers and they are both incoming freshman Gatorade national player of the year Ava Brown from Houston Texas and Keagan Rothrock who was the #1 ranked 2023 recruit a year ago.
Feel free to share the smoke detailsThere is smoke with Texas and Maxwell as well as Oklahoma.
Joley Mitchell to Texas
How much NIL money can we round up? I'm sure the Okies are throwing a bunch at her! There is smoke with Texas and Maxwell as well as Oklahoma.
I did a stat-vs-stat comparison of Mitchell vs Day and it sorta balanced out. Scratching my head about this transfer.Well when I'm wrong I don't mind admitting it. And yes Racer I missed it on this one as well as Molly. Hookem obviously has some good sources! Do you happen to be someone on the softball staff?
I'm happy with the batting average she brings to the team but I still have to ask where she will fit as a daily starter? She sure doesn't seem too happy that she's coming to Texas in her picture. No smile, no Hook'em?
Welcome to Longhorn Nation Joley!
Not saying Texas is the favorite but Texas is a “very strong” contender for Maxwell. She’s currently playing in the USA softball World Cup so I expect an announcement once she finishes with that. Of course there are other teams going to continue to pursue her such as Arkansas and Tennessee and others but we’ll see how it plays out. Hopefully we can get it done.Feel free to share the smoke details

I’m sure she has reached out to get an in depth look into our culture and the truth about Texas. Considering we haven’t had any unexpected portal entries even for players who are getting passed up shows that we have a pretty great team culture. I also know Maxwell is big on her development and Mike White alone would be a great reason for her to come to Texas. He’s one of the best in the business at developing pitchers.I saw on a Facebook post that said where is Maxwell going and Janae Jefferson’s dad put “” but I think it was him doing wishful thinking. I do know that Maxwell, Jefferson, Day, and Parker played on the same travel team Aces Express. So I’m sure their families are close. Not sure if he had insight or if it was wishful thinking. I’m also sure Elish told her not so good things about Texas as well especially that article that came out not too long ago. There was rumors of Maxwell going to OU as well but again apparently Maxwell talked bad about OU saying she would never go there so who knows?
Well Hookem has gotten 50% of his prediction correct. Sure hope he missed it on vawter.I was right about Joley.
