2023 Softball Transfers

I was doing a bit of googling on Maxwell and came across this interview she did in February 2023

Mundo: You are coming back for the 2024 season. So, this is not your last year in Stillwater. How did that decision go down? And how difficult of a decision either way was that for you, Kelly?

Maxwell: I was definitely back and forth the past couple of years because I knew I always had a sixth year. But I had aspirations to go to medical school, and I think I didn’t want to push that back too long because I knew that is gonna take many years in itself. So, I was kind of just worried about that. But then recently when we took that trip to Broken Bow, we were talking about, you know, what it means to be a Cowgirl and the Cowgirl way. And we had some really heartfelt deep conversations about like how you come in here as a young girl but you leave out of here as a woman. And just the conversations we had really just solidified that like I could work the rest of my life. Like, why [not come back] and regret it, you know? So, I’m excited to be coming back.

Big shift in her commitment. Wonder what made her have such a profound change of heart? Texas has a Great medical school. Hope that will sell her!

Cat Osterman, come on down!

My thoughts exactly! Although very unlikely due to her new baby she would be the perfect assistant coach.
1. UT built a second, new daycare right next to the old one which is about 200 yds down the street from McCombs
2. Could you imagine the pitchers she could recruit!

It would literally be the perfect setup! She’s also very involved in the travel ball scene so that would be another added bonus. I think everyone would benefit but Simpson would especially benefit from having Cat around the program mentoring her.

Being that this very specific job description is just coming out tells me the choice, discussions and agreement has already been made. Cat would be a GREAT selection for the program. And just as an opposing view, could it be Mike’s daughter, Nyree White? Or even Haley Dolcini? Neither have coaching experience per the job description so I agree with Cat as the choice. Bet an announcement is made very soon.

The timing of this announcement about the hiring of an assistant coach specifically for pitching is a convenient coincidence with us trying to recruit Maxwell? Hope it makes a difference.

I don't see any chance Maxwell comes here. I think our roster is probably finalized.

I have a feeling she's gonna be an aggie, but I hope I'm wrong.

Doubt it's Vawter. She's apparently visited South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Florida State.
OU's discussion board is saying it's not if, but when Maxwell announces for them. But in the same breath, they're wondering why it's taking so long for Maxwell to announce a slam-dunk decision like that.

So the belief is that when Mike White tweets a Hook'Em, some breaking news such as a coveted recruit or transfer has committed to Texas. This was a screenshot just a minute ago from his account:

Did anything important get announced after July 7th? And the "2h" ago tweet is the one we have just been discussing.

Yes, On July 11, Joley Mitchell announced she was transferring from ND to Texas.

I’m confused at this point! I’m still not too sure that the tweet was for Maxwell. I genuine don’t know anyone else in the portal Texas would go after or need other than Vawter or Maxwell. We’re set at every other position besides having a true ace. Some are saying Maxwell is going to Florida and she did just follow a Florida player today and Vawter to South Carolina so I’m confuzzled at this point:whiteflag:

I'm guessing it's Vawter because she's got a degree in engineering (I think it's a general one) and is looking to get either an MBA or Masters in one of the engineering disciplines. Everyone saying South Carolina.....uhhhh, I'm not to sure how good their grad engineering program is.

And then I'm saying it's not Vawter because they've said SC has offered Vawter a huge financial incentive. So it must be Maxwell because she wants to go to med school and we have Dell Medical now in Austin. People have said A&M because previously she said she wanted to be a vet.

And then I say it's not Maxwell because she doesn't want to stay in the Big 12 and go up against her home school OSU. So, it must be Cat's paperwork going through and she got hired as the new pitching coach.

I'm right! Or, I'm totally wrong!

At this point I’m just going to let it play out and just wait it out. We are having the same logic when it comes to all of this. I would love to have Maxwell be our true ace but if not I’m also good with what we have especially with the addition of Kavan. I do hope it’s Vawter or Maxwell though only because the last time Mike white tweeted out we got Mitchell so I’m assuming it’s some sort of transfer.

I think you nailed it Racer! All are in play but several things also make it appear it may not happen. With Mike White putting out his blast fans are hoping for one of the two elite transfer pitchers available! His timing is not great if it is the announcement that Cat is the new assistant Coach. Many people will be let down when in fact it would be great to have her on the staff.
