2023 Softball Transfers

I think we can rule out Cat Osterman as the new pitching Coach.

All of our transfers have now landed at their new schools:

Logan Hulon - Oregon State
Alyssa Popelka - Washington
Courtney Day - Ole Miss
Camille Corona - UT Arlington
Maddie Pomykalski - Arizona State
 
I guess the money was right!

[Numbers kicked around by jealous people on the forums say she got between $40K-$50K in NIL. But this is also based on very sour grapes]

In addition to putting Stanford on her resume, maybe she will list USC for grad school hoping people will assume it's the other one
 
Not sure why some are upset that Vawter selected South Carolina. She was never gonna reconsider Texas after Coach White pulled her 'ship when he took over for Connie; supposedly, there were a lot of hurt feelings even though she later gave Texas an official visit before signing with Stanford.

Regardless, better South Carolina than Florida, OU, LSU, FSU, UCLA or some other more established program. Plus, weakens Stanford considerably.

As for South Carolina, they have a great international business school, I believe. Most grad-transfers with only one year of eligibility remaining aren't necessarily pursuing a master's degree as that would require to years; I believe some sort of certificate can be earned after just one year in grad school.

A lot of turnabout views on Vawter before and after her announcement. This is a heavy, heavy OU leaning forum. It went from: Of course she's going to want to win a NC before the end of her playing career!
After USC commit: Well, what did she really win for Stanford anyway? She played against poorer competition to rack up her stats.
 
Late last night, Patty Gasso did a simple tweet (like Mike does) when there's good news to follow. I suspect it's Maxwell.

 
Now we know Maxwell is headed to Oklahoma that really leaves me confused about who Mike Whites tweet was about? Has to be the hire for assistant coach or a recruit. Nobody else in the portal would contribute anything besides depth at this point.

The Cloak & Daggar makes no sense to me. Coach White, Ou, Maxwell....etc
I do appreciate all the imformation JJ, its the only way I'm looped in.

It's become a three-way thread brawl between OU-Florida-FSU fans since both FL and FSU fans thought that they would be getting at least one of the two star pitchers.

While it frustrates me that OU gets yet another transfer pitcher to help them out, I have to remember the Longhorns have certainly benefited from transfer pitchers and we can't be hypocrites about it.

And then I equate OU softball to UT volleyball when continually pulling in star transfers. Hey, if you've got it, you've got it.

For us fans it’s easy to say “I can’t believe Maxwell left OSU for ou.” I mean she burnt her legacy at osu FOREVER! I understand she wants to be a MD or vet which is admirable.
If you really think about her decision, it was reported Haley Lee got $40k to transfer. I can’t imagine what kind of NIL money she got? At least the $40k and probably more. I don’t think I can really blame her for taking the money. There is no “next-level” money maker for softball.
This whole s**t show only supports what Mike White said about ou. They have an unfair advantage over the rest of college softball, but it’s not unfair but legal now with the NIL in place. As he said ou puts 90% of there NIL money into Softball, football and gymnastics.
In my opinion they are the evil empire, as Gasso referred to, and dominating the sport in this manner is not good for the future of college softball.
I believe Mike White is building a team that will be competitive with ou in the future and the rest of college softball will just have to keep hating and hoping the walls will crumble! We need to just destroy the Death Star first!

I was skimming the posts where fans were flinging poo at each other over Maxwell and one poster said, "OU has promised to pay Maxwell's tuition for the next 4 years". When I read that I went, "GULP". It implies 1 year of grad school (not really) and then 3 years of vet or med school. IF that were true, I went, "Oh. I see."
 
Now that Holmes is no longer on the roster I expect her to enter the portal in December. Hopefully she’s the only one we lose but with that being said I do expect us to pickup a player possibly a pitcher during the two week transfer window at the beginning of December.

DO you know something the rest of us don't? Why would you "expect" that to occur?

Would a mid-year transfer even be eligible for Spring ball?

Sorry Jacob but as much as I respect your posts I can't go along with you on this one. I think Mya is finished with Softball, unless she just tries to walk on somewhere. If she was going to transfer she would have entered the portal at the end of last year. Her performance review with Coach White could not have been good. I can not image him telling her she would be part of the team the next year. What does she have to sell in the transfer portal? Her performance statistics are zero for her time at Texas!
As far as pitchers, with 5 on the current roster I don't see us adding anyone else. He will be depending on Mac, Kavan & Citlaly to be his consistent starters with Czech and Sophia bringing a change of pace and mop up duty. Now I would not be surprised to see him add two pitchers to the 2025 class though! This is a very good class for Pitchers and I'm pretty sure he has his eye on a couple to make offers to.

Hey if she wants to be done with softball then that’s okay too. I don’t think she will be looked over just based on her time at Texas. Plenty of schools would take her. Texas is a nationally ranked school so her not playing just means people were ahead of her but that doesn’t mean she’s not a good player. She could go to a mid major or a school like Houston. There are plenty of options though.

Well Mike White was going after another pitcher so it all just depends on who enters the portal. Of course he isn’t going to take just anyone. It would have to be someone who can make an immediate impact. Things happen so we never know who may enter the portal and if the right player does I’m sure he will make contact.
