2020 Presidential Election: let the jockeying commence

The point is that students should repay their debts, but there's more to the story. It's not an open-and-shut case. The colleges and universities are running a racket, and the federal government and high schools are helping them do it.

I agree with everything you stated above this paragraph that I quoted.

The problem is with the idea that every student requires the same education and that every student is created equal. The reality is that not everyone is suited for college and some are better at a trade, while some are just lazy and want to fail at life. Once you hit grades 9 thru 12, you should be given the option for an education that concentrates on a path through college or trades. Heck, you can even have studies in retail/restaurant management for those who might work in those industries during high school.

My son (who is in college) has been accusing them of running a racket concerning the books/homework.

It's absolutely stunning to me that the solution is to forgive the debt without one word about the cartel/monopoly that is causing the dramatic increase in tuition costs (not to mention room and board). When it comes to salaries and the arrogance of the professors there is silence. You can pretend there is a choice but it's only as to which college you prefer to rip you off. An Accounting degree still requires a college degree. You have to go through the door and pay the toll.

And it's even more stunning that the colleges are socialist incubators on top of their profit for themselves but egalitarianism for everyone else racket.

An interesting side note to all this Biden/Beto gun control stuff:

Not so long ago, Bernie was a pro-gun 2nd Amendment proponent. He had to be to win in Vermont.

Vermont has lots of tree hugging, pot smoking, and high taxes, but they also have lots of hunting.

It's more than just hunting. Vermont is ideologically pro-gun pretty much across the board - no handgun registration.

The final spending total for Tom Steyer is in. Steyer, who believed in in the idea of impeaching President Trump "over anything," spent more than a quarter of a Billion dollars ($260 million+) for zero (0) delegates, giving him the worst return on investment in the history of political campaigns

Joining Bill Kristol and David Frum on Team Biden are West Mall favorites Samantha Power, Susan Rice, James Comey and John Brennan.
Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

Exactly! I wish folks would realize that. Folks in the trades can make a very nice living without having to pay off the costs of student loans for college. Trade schools can do a very nice job equipping them with the skills they need for auto tech work, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and the like - and without a college degree at a high cost.

Correction - Biden has rejected the Comey offer. LOL. But he accepted Brennan's, who is an even bigger snake than Comey. Apparently this was a move to appease Hillary fans who still blame Comey for her losing.

Bloomy is big in Samoa
Plus the 1 delegate should get Tulsi back on the debate stage (unless they change their rules yet again)

Biden is giving a reasonably coherent speech. You can’t readily detect any senility yet. Although he did mistake his sister for his wife for a moment... He gave Beto props for his work in Texas for Joe, and Amy for her endorsement in Minnesota. Some protestor crashed the stage. It looked like the protestor’s sign had something to do with dairy...?

Ha! Joe just quoted the preamble to the Declaration of Independence again and more-or-less got it right this time. Joe bounces back.

Is he senile, tired, or just drunk much of the time...?

My job requires only a high school education and I easily make over six figures and that doesn't include my military pension. Plenty of opportunities out there to succeed without a college education.

There are, but they aren't obvious. Furthermore, we crap on many of them. High schools don't lead kids in that direction.

Impressive! He certainly “backed that azz up” and got served. Stay in your lane Tommy.

If Biden does win the nom, will Bernie voters turn out for him?
My guess is no, or not enough of them

Running for President has been a very expensive hobby for Steyer and Bloomberg. Yet they both fall flat. Compare them to the guy who spends a small fortune on an expensive big game hunt or a far away fishing trip, but comes up empty and never actually shoots or catches a thing.

My concern really isn't with those voters. They are mostly in the far west and far east; places that were going to go Democrat anyway. The issue is going to be the "independents" in states like Missouri, Oho, etc. If they don't have to vote for an out-and-out communist that wants to eradicate their livelihoods and hates America, but instead can vote for the (relative) moderate rather than having to hold their nose and vote for Trump, they will vote for Biden. THAT'S what scares me.

And to be clear, they should vote for Trump anyway based on any economic metric alone, but he has such an off-putting manner to some people that they are loathe to vote for him.

Headline for November 6, 2024 — “Klobuchar Re-elected”

You heard it here first.

I'm a little confused. I'm not sure if you're talking over my head or if you stayed up all night drinking booze and watching the results come in. Are you suggesting that she will be Biden's running mate and that they will win but that be impeached and removed (perhaps for mortgaging the White House to hustle bail money for Hunter), assassinated, die of natural causes or otherwise leave office prematurely?

I would argue water isn’t obviously wet in freezings temperatures and you would readily agree. And Pete is a boring moderate Wall Street *****, to which you may also agree.

But political scientists have studied the racial salience of the 2008 election and published those for folks to read.

After reviewing evidence of racial bias in voter attitudes and behavior, they conclude that, in a racially blind society, Obama would likely have achieved a landslide.
I've read some pretty ignorant posts here, but that one may top the cake.
