2020 Presidential Election: let the jockeying commence

Steyer is supposed to be worth ~$1.6B
He spent ~$267M on his campaign
Close to 1/5 of his entire net worth

How did that Tusser quote go?

Most pundits think Bernie will have an insurmountable lead after Super Tuesday. He'll get enough delegates out of California and Texas to just about sew it up.

Mayor Pete is hoping to throw his supporters, which are perceived as more moderate than Bernie's or Warren's, to Uncle Joe. He's sacrificing himself to save the Dem Party from going Communist, er I mean Socialist.

I don't know why it's so difficult to acknowledge that Pete's sexual preference wasn't a huge factor. It was a novelty act with polish.

I understand. It's the same reason Trump has a hard time admitting that Russia tried to help him in the election. They think it cheapens his candidacy and what he accomplished. Democrats want to be able to say that they supported the intersectional candidate, but that's only to extoll their own virtue.

However, they don't want to admit that is the overriding reason for their support, because it cheapens the alleged greatness of their choice. After all, it's not an indicator of character, intelligence, accomplishment, or ability to be black or gay. It's just a personal characteristic or preference. It's like saying, "I voted for Bob, because he has a nicely-shaped nose." On the merits, it's ultimately a stupid reason, and they know it.

If he agreed to run as VP then maybe he is thinking invoking the 25th would be pretty easy. Who would be willing to step up to defend Biden against that? I would be willing to 25th Amendment against ol Joe today. Joe might even, but then would have forgotten about it tomorrow. And I am sure that whoever he considers for that position must also be thinking about it.
That's a plot worthy of

I know you understand. I was just leveraging off your platform with my comment.

Virtue signaling has lowered the bar for entry to world power. It is apparently the only qualification that matters on the Left. That is why a Beto think's he can vault to the top so easily. Same with Stacey Adams. Virtue signaling only takes a little bit of study/mastery, discipline to stick to the message and sanctimony laced with outrage. A good actor can lead the most powerful nation in the world with this facade. It's incredible.

Do you really think Russia tried to get Trump elected?
Hillary was /is much more likely to have been friendly with Russia.
IIRC Russia spent less than200k so how serious were they for either candidate?

re Russians and Hillary: they hate her because she and her worthless husband were constantly pushing NATO closer----which GHWB had promised Gorbachev we would not do. In fact, Hillary as SofS to Black Jesus was the most ardent promoter of the civil overthrow of Moscow's friends in Kiev. They hate her and have just cause.

Bonespur has not done them any great favors either but he is by no means the threat to the Russians that the Clintons were.

Their support is wildly overblown, but yes, I do think they favored Trump. He has been tougher on them than expected, but there was no way for anyone to know that. He talked as though he'd be very lax on them

You actually believe that far left conspiracy theory, don’t you? I mean, you really do believe that? Because McKinsey and his naval duties?

Watched the cnn special last night on the 1964 election. The CIA placed a mole in the GOP HQ, a secretary who would steal or take photos of Goldwater's speeches prior to debates. Also would relay key notes in conversations relating to strategies back to LBJs white house

That's cnn. Not fox

As much as we don't like to believe it, this crap happens. It shouldn't and I hope you agree with that. If trump were using the CIA in this manner now, I'd be pissed to no end

If the media said Trump was using the CIA it wouldn't be a conspiracy theory any longer to LongestHorn. It would be the absolute truth.

Since you love your Bonespur nickname, what will you call Biden, Bloomberg or Bernie should they become POTUS?
something better will come when that time comes but for now I might call all of them "Dementiacrats"

am open to other suggestions.

I don't think Sanders can get elected but perhaps "the Sandernista"?

knowing my distaste for Ivy Leaguers, I might go with something scurrilous about that school for the billionaire gun snatcher.

I could never vote for Bonespur but neither would I sully a ballot with any of those freaks.

thanks for asking

The adult (Amy) has now left the room. That leaves moderates and non-leftist Dems with the choice between a senile man (Biden), and a media billionaire with plenty of baggage who is trying to buy the election (Bloomberg). The two women (Amy and Warren) would have held up best against Trump in the debates. Both are smart and can think on their feet. Trump will demolish Biden or Bloomberg on the debate stage. Bernie will fight back and can debate, but his platform is so far left it falls somewhere between Salvador Allende and Chairman Mao. That's a big loser in this country.

Biden had it--10-15+ years ago.
Bloomberg is smart at making money (one of the best skills to have...), but he can't argue 'on his feet' in real time.
