2020 Presidential Election: let the jockeying commence

Libs are the worst about insulting others but if someone says something negative about one of their "protected classes" they lose their ****. It's never made much sense to me.
Apparently gay politicians are beyond criticism, even when compared to a character in a gay positive movie!

LH upset that he won’t be able to use the “get out of jail because the president is gay” card.

He's also mad because he knows he can't get a moderator to silence anyone who dares say something he doesn't like against a gay man. He can on most websites but not here.

A short poem I wrote about our socialist master:

A poet weeps for mankind
But to pretended benevolence
Freedom remains vigilant
For as a child is hungry
So too a man beholden to a King
To whom he can only bow

I predicted Pete would win the nomination. I was wrong.

Maybe this helps Biden? I think the CIA told their boy Pete to step down now so that they could try to combine some votes for Biden after he won SC. Warren votes would go to Sanders. Steyer and Pete leaving help Biden probably.

Okay, here goes (at my peril):

Which character best fits the description below, Mayor Pete or Zorro the Gay Blade:

- which one is a creation of Hollywood?
- which one is defending the poor against the corrupt rich while living comfortably in an hacienda?
- which one is more myth than legend (bonus hint: look into Mayor Pete’s less than heroic stint in the military)?
- which one is ambiguous gay to the viewers? (bonus hint: some voters didn’t know Mayor Pete was gay; bonus bonus hint: some on the left criticized Pete for not being gay enough)
- which is one is lauded by the press as the savior of the people?
- which one belongs to a protected class in society?

So, who wears it better: Mayor Pete or Zorro the Gay Blade?

Correct answer: both of them are phonies.

When I was a kid I remember Zorro the Gay Blade movie on HBO.

I loved it because I loved Zorro. He had a cool sword. The Zorro gay blade guy used a whip. Well, Indiana Jones used a whip, so I thought gay Zorro was super cool. I had no concept about what gay was. I watched that movie at least 10 times with enthusiasm.

I could tell my parents didn't really like the movie much. The more I watched the more uncomfortable they got about it. But I didn't know why. Zorro wearing differnt color costumes, with a cape, and a whip? Super cool to 10 year old me.

Looking bad that is so hilarious. I probably couldn't watch 5 minutes of the movie now.

Honestly, for how young, unknown, and inexperienced he was, Pete did pretty well. Several far more established politicians did much worse. It just shows how far intersectionality can take you with modern Democrats. (Obviously, if he wasn't gay, he wouldn't do any better than Ben Gleib.)

Pete did well not because he is gay, but because he demonstrated political chops. And you know that.

A better politician in the Dem party would have gotten more than 2% of the black vote. Of course there was a flip side to that with other voters that Deez was referring to. If Pete wants to be president, he would have a greater chance by switching parties (and his policies). Again, Pete is more fable than reality (which I concede applies to all presidential candidates).

Or Pete did as well as he did because he was propped up by the CIA. Mayor of South Bend, IN as a Presidential candidate? Nope.

He had so many political chops that he got no traction at all in the primary. None.

You actually believe that far left conspiracy theory, don’t you? I mean, you really do believe that? Because McKinsey and his naval duties?

You seem to be more familiar with his connections than me. The far left controls the levers of power so you would know, I guess.

Pete does have political chops, but lots of people have political chops. Everybody who ever made it to a debate stage had political chops. They were US senators, members of Congress, Governors, etc. You don't get to those levels without a lot of political chops.

Pete was to able to raise a lot of awareness and attention (and money) from being gay and therefore different, intersectional, and "historical." Had he just been another straight white dude who was well-spoken, he wouldn't have gotten where he did. In fact, you would have no idea who he was.

He tried to do the same thing Obama did in 2008. Had he been a white dude, would he have beaten Hillary Clinton? Hell no. First, he almost surely wouldn't have run. Second, if he had, she would have whipped his ***, because most of those millennials would have stayed home and because black voters would have voted for Hillary. She would have been slugging it out with John Edwards instead, and she would have beaten him too (mostly because she was a woman).

Totally agree.

I remember a lot of Liberals were very upset at how Obama attacked Hillary over her Iraq War Resolution vote. They were offended by the "mansplaining." They were offended because it was Hillary's turn. She was blind-sided by him.

And there is no doubt she would have drawn in quite a few black voters.

I don't know why it's so difficult to acknowledge that Pete's sexual preference wasn't a huge factor. It was a novelty act with polish.

Apparently the Dem Establishment is working furiously to get Mayor Peter to support Biden.

Wonder what he is asking for in return?

If he agreed to run as VP then maybe he is thinking invoking the 25th would be pretty easy. Who would be willing to step up to defend Biden against that? I would be willing to 25th Amendment against ol Joe today. Joe might even, but then would have forgotten about it tomorrow. And I am sure that whoever he considers for that position must also be thinking about it. Who wouldn't?
But back to Pete, once Joe was removed, he would need his own VP. I wonder if he would consider moving his husband into that position?

73-year-old Donald Trump is now the youngest person left in the presidential race (Even Bill Weld is older)

If they were able to ride all the way to the end of a 2d term,
Bloomberg would be 86
Bernie 86
and Biden 85
About the same as the Rolling Stones would be

In other news, Jack Welch dead at 84

My main take-away from the Trump era is that American voters do not want a candidate synthesized in some political thought lab. Warren is as synthetic as they come.
Ha! Robo-Candidate programmed for a liberal setting.

I predicted Pete would win the nomination. I was wrong. ...

Buttigieg was about a decade too late to the political game. His brand of youthfully optimistic empty platitudes just doesn't sell as well these days. Had he been born 15 years sooner, he might have made a good running mate for the king of empty platitudes, Obama. But the political winds shifted underneath him. Now Dem voters want elderly East Coast dementia patients shouting angry gibberish. Go figure.

Warren's knee-jerk reaction to support trans-women who compete against "regular" women was typical. She called it cruel to ban trans women from competing against them:

Arizona Sports & Gender -- Elizabeth Warren Criticizes Bill Banning Males from Competing in Female Sports | National Review

Typically, she came out aggressively by using the word cruel... she is all in as a complete virtue signaling, holier than thou Liberal totalitarian socialist. All. In.

All the viable and semi-viable candidates should stay in until after Super Tuesday. That day will prove who has legs and who doesn’t. It also gives the losing candidates some pull for horse trading, etc. at the convention if they walk in with some delegates.

If Mike walks into the convention with a decent chunk of delegates, he might swing a deal to get rid of any new capital gains taxes from the platform. At his core, Mike represents Wall Street.
