WORLD CUP 2010 (TV Schedules and brackets also)

Oh, wow. Can't believe Lee Donggook didn't do better on that chance. Wonderful through-ball to beat Uruguay's trap left him with a one-on-one, but his shot is low, weak and easily snatched up by the keeper.

SPOILER!

Uruguay 2, South Korea 1--Final.

Suarez's brace is enough to see the Uruguayans through. That has to be the goal of the tournament so far. Incredible shot that would've beaten any keeper.

South Korea fought gamely in the second half but, ultimately, couldn't keep up with Uruguay's class.

What a goal!

A great match to start the round of 16. Uruguay are punished for packing it in but come up with a fantastic goal from Suarez. Better team is likely through but you have to credit S. Korea for a tremendous effort in the second half.

Time for ultimate focussness as our friend Bill would say.

SPOILER

Germany 1 England 0

Long pass from defensive side of field finds Klose who muscles the defender and kicks it past goalie for lead. Terry missed the ball. Looked like he five holed the goalie too who whiffed on it between his legs.

England's backline looking very USA'ish.

SPOILER!

Germany 1, England 0--20th minute.

Miroslav "I Own the World Cup" Klose notches yet another goal on the game's biggest stage, this time against England as he receives a long ball in the box, fights off a defender, and fires a deft shot just as he goes to ground that beats James to far (right) post.

Inglaterra hasnt really looked good this World Cup, Alemania on the other hand has had some very nice games in its favor.

SPOILER!

Germany 2, England 0--32nd minute.

GOLAZO! GOLAZO! GOOOOLAZO-AZO-AZO-AZO!!!!

Incredible strike from Lukas Podolski, who had been struggling with his form but apparently no longer.

An incisive pass from Mueller finds Podolski left of goal. Podolski chases the ball down and settles only meters from the backline. England's David James closes the angle but not his legs, and Podolski nutmegs him with a shot that caroms off the far (right) post and into the back of the net.

What a strike!

Terrible, how do you miss that call???

The need for video replay is getting its best exhibit yet.

SPOILER!

Germany 2, England 1--37th minute.

A service from just outside the 18-meter box finds the head of centerback Matthew Upson. Upson rises high enough to dunk on an 11-foot goal and heads the ball home with authority.

One minute later, England scores again courtesy of a long-range strike from Frank Lampard, but credit is shamefully not given. On the play, Lampard's strike hits the top bar and deflects down and lands clearly inside the goal before bouncing back up to the top bar and then down again into the hands of a prone Manuel Neuer, who quickly distributes to his teammates.

That's gotta be one of the worst calls of this Cup, and there have been many.

No excuse for that. Seriously. Just awful refereeing there. Very sad to see, and not because I want to see England win, but because goals are hard to come by and good ones should count, period.

Klose move in the box was incredible, I wish he would have netted his 2nd goal there. England got robbed but I don't care because I am cheering for Germany

SPOILER!

Germany 2, England 1--Half.

What a half. Things certainly picked up at the 30th minute mark. For a moment, it looked as if Germany would win going away. Minutes later, England seemed sure to have equalized.

Will there be a single match in this Cup in which the referees and their assistants are up to the level of play on the pitch?

English announcers on world feed at half time calling it the German revenge for the '66 call that was a goal in the W/C final.

Will be a real shame if that call determines game.

This is a fantastic end to end game with great chances for both sides this half, it is a terrible shame that this game which should be a true classic instead will be forever marred.

SPOILER!

Germany 3, England 1--67th minute.

Clinical counterstrike from Germany. After Lampard's free kick bounces off the German wall, the Germans pounce, pushing forward with Teutonic efficiency until Bastian Schweinsteiger finds an open Thomas Mueller just outside the 18-meter box. Mueller settles and blasts a salvo that beats David James to near post.

And now a fourth. Germany stamping their name on this game. The quarter with likely Argentina will be another classic.

SPOILER!

Germany 4, England 1--70th minute.

Yet another merciless counterstrike from the opportunistic Germans. Mueller once again delivers the final blow, this coming after Mesut Ozil's square ball.

EDIT: Corrected the minutes in previous two posts.
