WORLD CUP 2010 (TV Schedules and brackets also)

If you think US fans are angry with Bradley (whether justifiably or not Gem,

) wait to see what the English fans do with Capello tomorrow and the next several days.

"Bastian Schweinsteiger" -- best name in the tournament.

I love the juxtaposition of an intensely German surname and a uniquely powerful given name. Sebastian would've been ho-hum. But proscribe the first syllable and you're left with a handle that assaults convention with the ruthless determination of a panzergrenediere assaulting an entrenched fortification.

Unless Germany screws up, I will have a Spaten Dunkel to celebrate.

My husband and I were in Germany in 2007 when they played England in a friendly. We watched the game in an English type pup in Frankfurt. I believe Germany won then too

Gem - I agree. Those are really the two instances where video review should be applied. The cost/benefit ratio of pausing to review a goal is worth the brief interruption in flow. As bad as it was for England, it's bad for soccer when millions of World Cup watchers, many of whom are not yet* dedicated soccer fans, witness that kind of injustice.

Flopping and faked injury is a major turn off that does nothing to expand viewership. It's in FIFA's best interest to eliminate it. Video review by a panel after games with stiff penalties meted out would probably end it overnight.

English announcers now bemoaning fact that Bundesliga spends more on their academy than Premier League and produces more national team players.

SPOILER!

Germany 4, England 1--Final.

While one wonders what the outcome might've been had England's 38th-minute equalizer been granted, one must also admit that the Three Lions are only flattering themselves by claiming they are the equal of sides like Argentina, Brazil and Germany.

Germany continues to play with a flair and style rarely seen in Europe. Its only blemish so far this tournament came when a match referee decided to hand out cautions like candy at Halloween.

The Germans are always fresher in the world cup than most because they take two months off in the winter. The EPL, on the other hand goes nuts in the winter. Don't they play 4 games in 10 days around xmas time.

I just hope Mexico plays their young guns today. They have the speed to run circles around Argentina's sluggish back line.

Argentina-Mexico could be best match of round of 16, looking forward to a lot of attacking soccer thia afternoon.

Oh, it's all about you now?! You have spoiled us with your SPOILERS. Okay, fine. We'll get by. What are you cooking up?

SPOILER

Mexico have the better of the chances so far and are unlucky not to have a goal having hit post and a bending shot that beats the keeper but goes just wide.

0-0 12 minutes in.

Wow, just sheer incompetence. Video replay getting a ton of exhibits for use this past week and a half.

Oooooooooooooooooooh, I get it. An Italian referee crew in the England v. Germany match. I understand now.

13 goals through 3.5 matches in round of 16. Nice to see that the teams arent in shells in the knockout games so far.

Spectacular strike. Didn't know Tevez had that in him. One could find plenty of fault with Argentina's first two goals, but that one ... wow ... top shelf!

If only Mexico didn't have a midget keeper ...

Remind me again just how in the world this team was fourth in conmebol qualifying and literally one game away from being in playoff with Costa Rica to even qualify.
