The huge differences between this and the "Roll Left" game are that, while our defense was horrible, the opponent was totally one dimensional. Nebraska had been running the same 5 plays for 27 years. We also had an offense that we knew could score points, with James Brown and Priest Holmes, et al.
My fear is that this O-line is going to get Quinn killed and he won't even get the chance to "last resort" Bijan. I like a lot of things about the defense and when it is grown up it will be just fine. But when they give up 21 points and 200 yards in the first quarter, I want to know how they are going to react then. Do they still show up the rest of the game or do they pull a Tom Herman?
I am thrilled to death about this game in that, just like "Roll Left", we have nothing to lose. If we lose 48-12, well it looks like everyone was right, if they kick a late FG to push the margin to 45-35, well huh, look at that, and then there is always a 37-27 win possibility.
Saban hasn't said all of these things about Sark for good press, he has said them because he knows the guy, if left alone, is a generational hire. This is what a rebuild looks like. So come early, stay late, be loud and wear burnt orange.
Hook Em!
