UT, OU, and SEC?

“Despite breach of trust with SEC, Texas A&M will be dutiful member”. It’s getting harder to tell whether it’s a real news article, or The Onion.

Psychology majors help me out here—is there a term for victims of bullies (or other tormentors) who stick up for their bullies/tormentors and constantly kiss the a$$ of those who kick their a$$ ???

It’s kind of pathetic. Do you feel sorry for these folks, or do you laugh at them?

Brother in law, a TCU fan—-today I’m saying, “uh, sorry!”
Yeah I get it. I know a number of them too.

But… if they ultimately land in the PAC (still a big “if”), they should come back thanking us. Same with Tech.

Ok looks like Texas and ou have told the Big XII they want a new deck either after the 2024/2025 academic year, or sooner if a better offer comes in before then.

Therefore Texas and ou are telling the other Power 5 Conferences "if you want us before the 2024/2025 rights explosion, make the best offer". The PAC-12 doesn't have the pull (especially if USC puts them on notice). That leaves the B1G and $EC. Come-on B1G.

I haven't thought about it till you mentioned other conferences possibly competing for Texas/OU but if you think about both of those schools going to any conference, it automatically makes any conference competitive with the SEC, instantly! (in spite of Texas' failures in football the last decade) Texas will return in that realm eventually. And Texas is lights out in baseball, looks like it might be very competitive in basketball, and all other sports are in the top 10 if not near it. This could be interesting if the other conferences also realize this.

So, realizing all that, the SEC is a done deal then, no way they would let UT/OU get away.

I have thought about super conferences before though, i figured the ACC and Big10 would join up to counter any super conference alignment.

The best part of this arrangement for me is that we will have a greater advantage of keeping our top players in state. The other SEC teams will not have that advantage anymore. They will have to come up with other negative recruiting.
Yes we will lose a few. Ohio state can kiss the the big longhorn butt. I just think we are now set up to be a juggernaut.
If the red river shoot out was big before its really going to be a knock down drag out now. Its going to be a thrilling ride going forward. So i am looking forward to the college football seasons.
Was it a bit unethical to bolt from the league and leave the 8 other teams scrambling? Yes. And that's a black eye on us. Change is inevitable and can stink in someways. I did like the big 12 and will miss it. But we had to do this to keep our best players.

Arkie assumed they would return to prominence when they made the move, too. Hasn't happened.
The pigs, and Nebraska, have the same basic problem. Both schools do not have enough talent in their state to fill their football rooster. Texas does not have that problem, our problem is that we cannot recruit our own state anymore and that is what we are trying to fix.

No doubt more options for parents to see an SEC schedule played in Texas is a good thing for the Longhorns. We still have to deal with Ohio State (as mentioned above), OU and Alabama as those schools seem to have something greater than mere conference affiliation.

all other sports are in the top 10
All other sports are National/Conference Champions. ;)

Reading the arrogant comments by Mizzou's coach made me want to vomit.
Everything I've always hated about the $EC.
We better kick some *** if that's where we end up.
Not really worried about kicking Mizzou's ***, but the real football teams. ;)

I suppose in 2025 the SEC will be a West / East Division thing?

Perhaps something like:

West:

TEXAS
ou
arky
aggy
mizzou
lsu
ole miss
miss aggie

East:

florida
south carolina
georgia
tennessee
kentucky
vandy
bama
auburn

So, just speculating... you play 7 rivals in your division every year and perhaps 2 each year from the other division (that rotate home-and-away). With a 12 game regular season schedule, that would leave teams able to schedule say 3 OCC games.

Texas can't win the weak tit Big XII, but I'm sure recruiting and coaching will cause Texas to suddenly be able to run the SEC!SEC!SEC! gauntlet.

Dream on.

OR... always remember you are Aggy, meaning you are delusional...

1) Last football national championship - the year Germany attacked Poland.
2) Record against the sips: 37 - 76 - 5 (or in case that is confusing: 76 - 37 - 5 in favor of sips).
3) You lost the last game you played against the sips in your kiss-off game at Kyle Field.
4) You tried to sneak paint some national championships on the wall at Kyle Field but got busted.
5) The two times you had sustained success on the field (Sherrill and R.C) in the modern era you were subsequently busted for cheating.
6) When you hired Fran, you said he was "A better recruiter than Mack; a better coach on the field than Stoops." Uh... maybe not...
7) Your bow-tie President turned out to be a clown.
8) You put a sign up in Austin declaring it to be SEC country before you ever played a game in the SEC. You tried to impute their legacy and glory upon yourself before you earned it.

Guess what? You still haven't earned it.

(9) In a total panic you gave Jimbo a 10 year - $75 million contract. That speaks for itself.
10) You just found out that you're not a player in the SEC. We knew it all along.

You guys ain't very woke are you?

You are correct in that we have not shown much lately. It will take lots of work. It's kind of sad we couldn't get our act together in the Big 12. I understand that nothing has changed in that regard other than firing and hiring another coach. We are doing a decent job in recruiting. Hopefully this will give us a big bump. Clearly the SEC is the marquee conference but we struggled against OU and Ohio State in recruiting too so there's more to it than just the SEC.

Not extending beyond 24-25? Does that mean 24 or 25 will be the last FB season? I can only assume that means 24-25 school year, thus 25-26 would be the first for FB, so it's still 4 more years in the B12, that's still a lot and possibly not a major enticement even for the 22 recruiting class. If it's not til 26, it's pretty meaningless for the 22 class.

Yes, 22 would not be impacted.
