I actually think it was provocation not weakness. Trump sanctioned the pipeline but he also did not pursue expanding NATO or missile launchers in Eastern Europe. He was pro peace in most respects. Biden is more militarily aggressive than Trump, despite moving troops out of Afghanistan. Trump was going to move them out 4 months earlier, remember? Biden's saber wrattling is a factor here not appeasement.
We all know Trump was planning on removing the troops from Afghanistan. Biden tried to hide the FU behind Trumps intentions. But Biden was not bound to pull them so he owns it.
As for Biden being the saber rattler, it's hilarious because Liberals were acting like Trump was going to start WWIII:

It doesn't matter. The social/cultural wing of Liberalism is actually the entire house. They are so offended by anything and everything, along with enacting wealth redistribution that this event will mean nothing. They'll blame Trump and move on.

This whole thing may cause a split in the hard left. Many adored the Soviet Union and have never gotten over its fall. Many also like anyone who is adversarial to These United States. Dugin is real smart, and makes some valid critiques of the liberal West, especially the extreme and silly "woke" type stuff. But don't get sucked into his vortex. His (and possibly Putin's) goal is a return to the Dark Ages (not technologically, but in every other way), but more extreme--an Eastern version of the dark ages.
Put another way, if:
(i) you want the freedoms of speech and press, and to use the same to criticize and mock some of the bizarro stuff going on-- you're a classic American thinker;
or
(ii) you strongly and violently oppose the freedoms of speech and press, and want to use State and Church apparatuses to round up, torture, and kill the bizarro among us--you're with Dugin (and Putin).
