Normally heavy sanctions would be felt by Russia given their current circumstance but they don't seem to give a rat's arse about them

Russia's energy resources, China's economy and supply chain strengths and leverages, could form a union all to themselves. That would pose long term challenges. The invasion already brings short term economic challenges for the US

He said some dumb things, but he didn't destabilize Ukraine and didn't try to get rid of NATO. In fact he boosted our military presence in Europe and of course didn't approve the pipeline. Obama reduced them dramatically, and just prior to the annexation of Crimea, we didn't have a single tank on the continent and were planning to close the main facility in Mannheim that processed and maintained tanks. And of course, Democratic energy policy is about the most pro-Putin thing we could do.

I'm not going to say Trump was perfect with Russia. I'll happily condemn a lot of his comments. However, in terms of what was actually done, he was tougher on them than Obama or Biden. They have said the right things but have been astoundingly weak in actions.
