TEXAS-OU game thread 2023

Wadster,The defense was bad and did not play well but QE had 2 interceptions and a fimble. Sark calls three plays up the middle on the 1 yard line. What happened to the wildcat. Loss was on the defense,QE and Sark.

I'm about to pound golf balls to take off anxiety but every 15 min., since the end of the game, I get more angry and pissed off. I played on a football team from 3rd grade thru HS, so I internalize, analyze & agonize Horns games more than I should...

However, I sometimes remind myself: You're a grown-*** man (senior) now and you should not let the actions and results of a game between kids 18-23 yrs old affect you like it does....

Some very odd goal line playing calling. I mean if he couldn't get the touchdown he should've just kicked the field goal to make it 23-27, Sark went for it too soon.

Losing Watts and Catalon in the secondary hurt the depth and put extra minutes on the other guys. Might have been part of the problem late.
In the end, football is largely a game of avoiding big mistakes like TOs. There's a reason the team that wins the TO battle usually wins the game.

Thanks for agreeing with me that we have a chance :hookem:
do you know what the word AND means. Like in both have to be true. So no, I'm not agreeing with you and you're just being obtuse. Or is that too big a word for you. OU does not need to be in the top 3 when we meet them for us to go to the CFP. Good lord. today's sucked bad enough without having to deal with your BS.

Our OL was outplayed by their DL
Their OL outplayed our DL.
Sander should NOT have played. He could not block anybody.

I am not going to say IF one play turned out another way……….

ABSOLUTELY! That was the killer today.
There were a number of killers. Kind of like “death from a dozen cuts.”
But the final cut—allowing a 75 yard touchdown drive in 75 seconds with no timeouts was certainly the fatal cut.

Question: Does anyone think we lose this game if Gary Patterson is our DC?
I think we win going away.

Definitely not scoring from the one was a killer - however the lack of defensive adjustments and pressure was surprising - after all that happened we had the lead with a minute to go and ou had no timeouts - defensive play calling there was atrocious - it seemed we more in prevent mode all day - and it prevented the win
Big step backwards

Agree all three share some of the blame. But QE was 32-38 and really 2 of those turnovers are on him. Sanders had already dropped the ball before he got hit. Only the first one lead to points. Sark at the goal line was terrible, but he also had some great play calls that kept us in the game early and I do credit QE going 32-38 partially on Sark. The D though was just mediocre to bad all game long. By their standards just bad. 1 barely sack (-1 yds), no turnovers (one easy dropped pick), very little pressure. Just nobody made the important plays.

Also can we stop returning every kickoff? Just fair catch it and take the 25 on those high shallow kick offs. Least BA was solid on his FGs.

We tend to eat each other alive on days like this, and I hate that. Someone posted earlier and I agree, I wish the sporting fortunes of teenagers didn't affect me the way it does, win or lose.

I have a buddy who is currently in Jerusalem, and I have no idea how he is. Oh well, beat Cougar High.

I really dont like the worn out cliche of one team is more motivated than the other. Those are comments made by losers. I never played any kind of game that I didnt want to win. I have to believe kids getting to play college ball are the same. It doesnt matter if its checkers, show up to win.

I think there’s an argument to be made, not an excuse, that OU was humiliated last year and was frequently reminded of it this week. That kind of thing is about pride and can be enough to create the winning edge in effort, intensity, etc in a close game. Just a dumb fan theory.

Texas punted only once today. Too many mistakes on offense that limited our overall score. Majors and Sanders being out or hobbled was huge.

I have no words regarding the defense.

Back at hotel:

1) Never sit in upper deck end zone. Can’t hear anything.
2) too many turnovers
3) OU controlled both lines
4) terrible short yardage play calling
5) terrible clock management on the field goal drive.

We beat them in December though. :hookem:

You’re mad cause we agree? lol

My takeaway is OU spent more time analyzing our weaknesses and exploited them. They also had the motivation of last year’s 49-0 loss to us. The real signal we were not going to win was the inability of our O line to open a hole to score from the okie 1 yard line on 4 tries. Our DBs also had an off day, to put it nicely. We had some good moments, but not enough.
Off day? Not sure the DB’s are all that goiod.

Tough loss, but the team did come back and had a chance to win. Yeah, It’s not a day for recriminations. Everything is still on the table. Win out, win the rematch in December and everything is still possible.

Creek and FW are right. It comes down to December. I am disappointed, but Texas has another shot.

Texas wins out and it's Jerry World Time. Almost assuredly against OU.

Being a Realist, vs a Sunshine Pumper. Get this Done.

If that was the worse game we play all year I'll take it cause we won't lose again. ou played out of their minds to beat our worse game...I don't think it happens again. I'm glad this is our bye week to give everyone, including us (fans) time to regroup.
Its been a long time since we here were talking/playing for a national/conference championship in October. Let's enjoy it :bevo:.
