Texas-Bama Game Thread

No, because it was not IG. The pass deflected off a defenders helmet. No difference than a pass being batted down behind the LOS.
So, while in the end zone and in the midst of being sacked and hitting the ground, he threw a pass that he expected to complete? You may be right, I don't know the official definition of intentional grounding in that regard.

If it had been called IG, non-reviewable call, it would have not been overturned. IG is an ‘obvious intent’ infraction. Deflected passes
are obviously non intentional. Judgement of field judge. Sadly, the Big 12 refs consistently lack field judgement. The pendulum between ‘no call, let ‘em play’ and picky, chippy calls is seemingly random. Both ways.

Wow. What an atmosphere, what a game.
Gonna do the unspeakable now and pose a question about Bijan. I’ve seen other rbs do this and I’m wondering if he’s gotten a bit too hesitant hitting the line as in a bit too much shake before the burst. A few times I know the slightest opening wax there and I though he ‘cut’ or tried that quick jump type thing he does looking to bust it bigger than what was there and lost some yards he could have gained. Just speculating here because I love the guy and consider him a great rb but have seen others great rbs loose something trying so hard to bust the big one that they loose their natural instincts.

”Expected to complete” is irrelevant. Once it deflected off the defender, the qualifications for IG no longer apply. Incomplete pass. No grounding. No safety.

Refs sucked.
Bama got the calls. (or didn't)
But first half we were inside the Bama 10 three times and came away with six points.
Worthy drops a sure TD.
We could have easily won this game even with the bad calls and injuries.
Gotta take advantage.
But a great game and the D looks much improved.
Just have to carry it forward now.

Moon, were you at the game?

If so, please share some thoughts during the entire game experience.

It was intentional grounding n the end zone. Safety

I thought this at the time, but only going by TV replays and not being able to see if there was a possible but unlikely receiver.

Incompetent Refs robbed us, again, of a victory. QB avoided a sack in EZ - automatic safety call.

It was a missed 2 point SAFETY call, PEOPLE.

21-20!

You are 1000% incorrect. Once the ball is deflected by a defender, the foul of IG cannot be committed.

I'm sure you're right and must know the rule better than everyone else here, but if intent is irrelevant, how is the penalty even called "intentional"?

I was saying same thing, I like Ro in short yardage

I don't think the missed FG was all the K's fault. As soon as I saw the snap, I said, "Uh-oh." It was a bit outside and Card had to reach and pull it in before he could try to turn the laces, just not enough time.

Had it been a bit high, he could have spun the laces while bringing it down.

At least, that's what slugga taught me.

The foul of IG occurs when A) the passer is not outside the tackle box and throws an incomplete pass where there is no eligible receiver, or B) when the passer is outside the tackle box and the incomplete pass does not reach the LOS.
I think Young was outside the tackle box, but in this instance, it doesn't really matter. Because the pass was batted down (backward actually) by the defender, there is absolutely no possible way to determine if the pass would have reached the LOS, or if there would have been an eligible receiver in the vicinity (wherever the pass may have landed).
Incomplete pass. No IG. No safety.

Agree. Kicker got distracted…but, he should have made the kick. Oh well.

Just saw a vid that says if any part of the leg above the ankle touches the ground the player is down. His leg was on the ground almost to his knee before he threw it. Safety.

Dude was down. Moot point debating anything that happened beyond this pic.

Conversation and debate is now over.
Bad call.

Reggie Bush tweeted that this was the worst call he had ever seen.

Just want to respond to all the folks who are tossing blame on anyone associated with Longhorn football for today’s loss. This means coaches, players, the crowd etc.
The game plan was excellent. Our players—freshman to graduate transfers—played well, disciplined, hard, all out balls to the wall from the opening kickoff to the last play.
An offense that was hobbled by injury, playing multiple freshmen, while up against one of the best, if not the best, defense in the country, led with 15 seconds left in the game.
The defense shocked everyone with it’s hard nosed, disciplined, smart play—holding bama to 20. I will be surprised if anyone holds them to a lower point total all season.
Card played through real pain, courageously. The freshmen o linemen didn’t have a single holding call.
Our kicker made 3 of 4, the miss on a low snap.
The crowd was magnificent.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m sick about losing. But no one should hang their heads or whine.
We lost this game because Bama has college football’s best QB, the Heisman winner, who will win it again this year. Had he been our qb, we win going away.

Next year we go into Bama’s house and the Horns will leave with the win. Mark my words.
Hook ‘em. :hookem::hookem:

This…. Exactly my thoughts. I promise that for me this is the only loss that i feel as a positive overall.
Hell yes- I wished UT would have won.

Haven't seen this mentioned yet. In Sark's post gam presser he said he told the team they didn't lose, they ran out of time.

:whiteflag:

I still like him. Unfortunate slip of the tongue.

Sark's comment wasn't hyperbole. We were able to drive on them all game. I have no doubt we could have and would have driven down to kick the winning field goal.
