Texas-Bama Game Thread

Home crowd was lights out. This defense is salty. The D shut down the Bama run game and made the Heisman Trophy winner look pretty ordinary for most of the game. The Ewers injury and a one-legged Card handcuffed the offense. But I like what Sark is cooking. :hookem:

If Ewers is back pretty soon, we can go 9-3. Otherwise, if it’s a month or more without Ewers. We may go 7-5. D is for real! They could get us to 8-4 regardless with Card.

Still in the pocket, didn't get back to LOS, deliberated aimed and landed nowhere near anybody. Intentional grounding in the endzone. Safety.

QB was not down. His throw bounced off a defenders helmet, that's why it went backwards. Not grounding, not a safety.

If Ewers is back soon, I would not rule out 11-1. This is a different team.

I hope we see Murphy next week. Card may be more injured than we may think… Man is he a liability, not that I am surprised. Feel bad for him but it is what it is.

Bama stood up to adversity and its stars did what they had to to get a win. Texas showed a new level of defensive intensity, so while I won't claim "moral victory" doing that well against Alabama on the legs of a gimpy backup QB is better play than we've seen around here in a while.

Listening to players being interviewed by Craig and Roger. They are definitely NOT hanging their heads.Pumoed for the rest of the season. So I am too.

We were 20+ point dawgs. Last year was still lingering in my mind. New QB with 2 snaps in D1 ball. Coming into this game my mind was anything <20 point loss would’ve been great.

Reality:the fans showed up early and loud. Awesome to see that come through on the tv and talked about by the announcers.

The D was completely different and effective: pass rush kept Young nervous all game; pass coverage was tight; tackling was stout. Crowd was loud and rowdy. We damn near pulled it off, but the 1-point loss to the #1 juggernaut Bama tells me this is a very different team this year. I’m pretty pumped by what I saw.

Need to get Ewers and Card healthy or Wright and Murphy ready to rock.

Good game. The future is bright!!

As good an effort by defense as I have seen in years. The line of scrimmage was a mismatch on paper but Texas held up on both sides of the LOS and had a chance to win at the end, something I didn't think was remotely possible before the game. There are no moral victories, that is for aggy, but today is a strong signal that Sark knows what he is doing and the culture is changing. Texas cant crap the bed next week but if they play with the intensity and heart they showed today Texas can win every game left on its schedule.

Card showed me something today playing through ankle injury. Hopefully he can play vs. UTSA.

Radio guy said Ewers had Clavicle sprain. Non throwing shoulder, so he may be back sooner than a collar bone injury or worse, a break.

Bama had a lot of penalties called on them, but there were several big critical no calls.

1. Blatant holding no call on Bryce Young's game winning scramble. The right tackle had 2 handfuls of jersey as our DE tried to run wide with Young. This no call basically handed them the win. Our first defender missing a tackle doesn't then allow their right tackle to hold as much as he wants.

2. Blatant PI no call on our first drive on 3rd down. Their DB grabbed the arms and pushed the WR out of bounds well before the ball arrived.

3. There was another deep ball thrown in the first half where our receiver had a step on the DB, but their DB had his hand on top of the WRs shoulder all the way down the field and then grabbed and pulled the jersey up and back before the ball arrived. I don't how the refs can miss it when the jersey is visibly pulled up from the surface of the shoulder pad.

4. On one of our other FG drives there was a blatant face mask no call on our RB on a sweep to the right in the red zone.

All of these were so blatant and obvious and directly in the vicinity of the ball. All ridiculous no calls.
