Texas-Bama Game Thread

GREAT game by the Longhorns - excellent progress...BUT...this game should have been a win. Hosed by a couple of clearly missed DPI calls in the 1st half by Alabama. Generally poor job by the officials. Gritty performance by Hudson Card when he was hobbled.
I feel good about the rest of the season - but very disappointed not to win against Bama.

missed fg was huge

Sure but we should have been running 2 more plays there before settling for it. Left the timeouts in our pocket. Shades of Mack in 2002 before halftime against OU, or in 2009 against Bama when we went into a shell in the first half hoping Colt would be back. Needed to seize the moment and not play scared given that we were underdogs and it was Alabama, rather than being satisfied with it being close.

And I mean, refs. The safety. Plus the facemask that would have given us 1st and goal. Plus the DPI that would have given us 1st and goal. Pretty much every neutral fanbase out there is saying Alabama got lucky as hell to have the officials in their pocket all game. It's pretty rare to see this much blanket agreement from groups of people who generally dislike / envy Texas.

It was winnable for us — tough to let that get away but I’m super proud of the team today. I’m sure very few non-Texas fans thought we even had a chance.

This kind of performance needs to be a launching pad for the rest of the season. Despite QB issues this team is good.

Hopefully its a collar bone and not AC Joint. Either way, defense is going to play this way every week for us to not go 5-7 again with Card. UTSA gonna be a tough game both mentally and physically with no Quin or DJ on d.

Sark's the man though. Just need to keep stacking recruiting classes.

First instinct is to blame refs but we beat ourselves honestly. Worthy drop, missed FG and unable to put ball in end zone. If Ewers comes back for the conference opener I think we will be just fine. Hook em

When Big 12 refs didn't call the roughing the passer against WVY last year, I knew this is what we are going to get until we leave conf.

Sack of Card before last FG forced us to kick FG vs. get a first down or at least eat more clock before FG.

We left tide 1:29 - too much time....

It wasn't a safety. QB wasn't down and was able to get rid of the ball (incomplete).
No, that should have been intentional grounding and thus a safety.
Poor call.
I don’t think the refs had an agenda, but man they missed 2 pass interferences as well as that face mask on Kielan that would have given UT first and goal.
