Schaub to Houston/Carr gone

Also, for reference, if you use the draft chart as the gospel, the 1,000 points is roughly equivalent to a mid 1st rounder. Given his Schaub's size, talent and how he's thought of by scouts around the league, you're delusional if you don't think Schaub is a first round pick if he's in this draft. Hell, Russell and Quinn each have more question marks than Schaub and both are likely top 5 picks.

For me, it just makes it all the more tougher to stomach passing on Vince and Bush only to end up the very next year in panic mode to fill the QB and RB positions...

I passed on ever becoming a Texans fan when they chose their appititude in selecting a team name and colors, and decided to use a bastardized hybrid of the Longhorn logo.

They are a mess, and the smell is getting worse

The uber trade would be

Get
Matt Schaub
Mario Williams

Lose
Vince Young
David Carr
2nd round pick 07
2nd round pick 08
Drop 2 spots in 07 draft

seems about even...

No Texans fan here, but I think this was the best deal they could make. I expect Schaub to out-perform Carr, because I don't think Carr is ever going to be more than a dump-off QB (he does have the tools to be a backup in the NFL for a long time).

McClain said the Texans may hold onto Carr until after the draft, thinking that they might get best value from a team that is desperate for a QB (that will be one desperate team). I guess I'm surprised the Raiders may be interested, after Carr's performance against them last year.

Genius. The Texans have effectively traded Julius Peppers, Vince Young, and two 2nd round picks for Mario Williams and Matt Schaub. Maybe they'll get an extra mid-round pick in the bargain for dumping Carr. Just when you think it cannot get any funnier...

so, let me get this straight -- a year ago, the texans exercised their option on david carr because he was their quarterback of the future. for the same reason, they passed on drafting vince young. only one year later, and they're dumping carr for matt schaub? who is running this organization?

just imagine if the Texans had decided on Matt Leinart as their QB of their future ( I know he's a douche but he's going to be a far better NFL QB than Schaub) before last year's draft.

They trade the #1 pick with detroit for detroit's pick (9) and get Leinart and at least detroit's 2007 1st round pick. this year they could have taken calvin johnson with that pick and still have another top 10 pick.

Scenario 1:
QB Leiant
WR C Johnson
best DE in 2007 draft
still have 07 and 08 2nd rd picks

Scenario 2:
what they got

As always, you guys are good for a riot. Julius Peppers, Vince Young, Matt Leinart and others have nothing to do with this trade. It's a deal independent of any other before it. To try and link random players from previous years that have nothing to do with it and pass it off as a realistic analogy is aggy at its finest.

I think that the poster only brought that up because of the earlier reference to this not being so lopsided if Carr is traded for value. Obviously, that would also be a completely independent trade & would not in any way make this one less sucky (as was implied). Dropping 2 spots & 2 second rounders is too much.

Some people at the combine might disagree with me, but those in the know do not.

Carr is ranked #11 with a rating of 35.64

Schaub is ranked 25th with a rating of 7.93.

That's right, 7.93. The Link

This trade was completely assinine with all of the holes they need to fill. It wouldn't be that surprising to see Schaub holding the clipboard for Carr this fall.
