Riots in Minneapolis

What I was surprised about with regards to St. George's home invasion / armed robbery conviction was that he only served 5 years in prison for that. Seems short for a crime with a gun - some places have a minimum 15 year sentence for any felony involving a firearm.

Wonder if it was plea bargained down to such a short time in the slammer as the target was a drug house, and the DA felt that the victim, while a woman, would either not want to testify as to why they picked her place out, or would not be a sympathic victim.

Or maybe St. George turned stool pigeon and ratted out the rest of his group of bumblers (their "plan" was to gain entry into the house by having one of their crew pretend to be with the water department and say he needed to come inside. One guy had a blue shirt so he volunteered - that was the extent of their disguise - no fancy patch with Houston Water Department on it or such, like you'd seen in the movies, just a blue shirt. These dudes were not Oceans 11), as he was the first one nailed, from using his own SUV as the getaway vehicle, with real license plate.
He didn't even SERVE five years. He GOT a five-year sentence because of the lax practices that have been permitted to exist in Harris County for several years.

He ultimately did about four and a half years, with a program requirements prior to the release to parole supervision.

I don’t care if he had a fake 20 and fentanyl. Almost nine minutes on his neck when he was in cuffs is at least some degree of murder.
And yet the prosecutor said in opening statements that it was the rib cage not being able to expand. Not a word about the neck. Perhaps that might have been because the popular narrative was complete crap...

Of course, the prosecutor also seeks to downplay the reality of lethal doses of illegal narcotics in FentanylFloyd's bloodstream...

As I have said before, the defense attorney could have given his opening statement with Chauvin pinning him in the same manner and it would have been zero problems with the breathing. This would be cause the restraint did not obstruct the airways in the neck...

Dollars to donuts here, there will be riots either way. Rioters gonna riot.

The media could minimize the riots if they would tell the truth but they love the unrest.

Neck compression didn't cause his breathing problems. Squeeze your neck and try to speak. Floyd was speaking fine.

Drugs and his health problems combined with cutting off blood flow is the most likely cause. He was also in a panic so I'm sure his blood pressure was sky high.

Ironic the the Chinese are shipping fentanyl into the country through our southern border using the Mexican cartels. Two other topics in the current news that need more attention.

I was just saying that even if he is found guilty the rioters will still come up with some reason to riot.

The real irony is that the mob mentality crowd does not even realize how full circle they have come, given the manner in which some where removed by force from jails even 100 years ago for the purpose of an extra-judicial hanging...

All he had to do was follow instructions and stfu and he might have lived. He was clearly out of his mind on drugs. Hard to say given his hard drug issues. His partner in the car was nice, respectful, answered questions and had zero problems. Chris Rock was exactly right.

No, the message from the left is that police are not to be trusted, so you should resist them and be applauded for it.

Forgive my ignorance but I thought that killing someone in the act of a felony was capital murder? Is there something I don't know or have I just watched too much TV?

It can be. If you look at Texas Penal Code § 19.03(a)(2), capital murder does include killing someone while in the course of committing or attempting to commit some other felonies. However, the statute still requires the prosecution to prove that you intended the murder.

What I'm talking about is something different. It's covered by § 19.03(b)(3) (same page as the other link). It says a person commits murder if he "commits or attempts to commit a felony, other than manslaughter, and in the course of and in furtherance of the commission or attempt, or in immediate flight from the commission or attempt, he commits or attempts to commit an act clearly dangerous to human life that causes the death of an individual."

As you can see, there is no requirement that the prosecution prove intent to kill someone. It's the law these girls would be tried under if in Texas. If you look at the rest of the section, it's a first degree felony. You won't get the death penalty like you could for capital murder, but you'd still be looking at life or 5-99 years in the slammer, and if the court feels like that isn't enough, it can toss in a fine of up to $10,000. Would you rather get the needle or be Big Tyrone's ***** (and he'll probably pimp you out to Big Jose and Big Gonzalo for the occasional pack of cigarettes) for the next 5-99 years?

Maybe he popped a Metos and washed it down with a soda! He just wanted to have fresh minty breath for his interaction with law enforcement.

I watched the 2019 video from a cop's body cam, where he was a passenger in some unlicensed vehicle (racialist honkey PO-leeze trying to enforce that Slaveowner's idea of having a valid license plate and current tags on your ride). and St. George of Floyd did about everything you could do correctly, if you goal was to be shot by the cops.

Moving his hands all around, having them out of sight (probably trying to stash his stash), not obeying the cop's repeated orders to keep his hands up, babbling nonsense about "please don't shoot me, please don't shoot me" and claiming he was shot before by the cops, which is a lie. Dude was just a walking disaster.

For the life of me, I don't understand why people don't have their wallet in hand, hands on the steering wheel when stopped by the cops. It's not that hard. For that matter, if you are a drug dealing criminal, wouldn't you want things to go so smoothly that you don't give the cops any reason to search your vehicle? The overlap of criminality and stupidity is nearly 100%.

I saw it from my own brother. My dad even told him that he's not smart enough to be a career criminal. He was the kind of criminal that would take **** to the pawn shop after stealing it from someone. Derp

What is truly sad is that there is no reason for people NOT to know in the past 30 years that pawn tickets are tied to the ID used when pawning something and that most items go into the TCIC network...making it REAL easy to get a pop on something with a serial number. And yet the idiots STILL pawn stuff they stole an hour ago...

Floyd complains about foaming at the mouth.:yikes:

I made the mistake of clicking on HLN last night because the program guide said live courtroom video of GF trial. So what was it really?? They were showing a video of GF in the c-store walking around, and the CNN talking head was talking about how calm and non-belligerent he was. So what the hell does this have to do with the encounter with the police? Why aren't you showing how belligerent he was with the cops? What an insult to my intelligence.

Why don't they just show a video of GF sitting in church and talk about how calm, peaceful and non-belligerent he is. The sad thing is the ignorant libtarbs just eat this stuff up and never think beyond what what they are being fed. People are really this stupid.

My Chinese friend is the perfect example. She get's in to every bit of this crap. Just as a told her a month ago we're going to have a hard freeze and she better get her plants in. Of course she didn't want to listen to me and lost a lot of beautiful plants including a 6ft cactus she had been nursing for 9 years. She was devastated, but didn't want to listen to a thing I had to say.

most criminals suffer from a failure to consider risk; they think about how they will spend the money from selling a drug but not what happens if they get caught

What made my brother really special is that he kept doing it even after getting caught every time he did it.

In a similar vein, the folks least prepared to be laid off in a recession are the same folks who get laid off in a recession. It’s uncanny. It’s not perfect, probably follows the 80/20 rule; 80% of folks who get laid off are in the top 20% in financial unreadiness.

Weird how this ties in with the Austin homeless thread. George Floyd was probably mentally ill.

None of these people would have given George Floyd the time of day while he was alive. Guy was so broke he had to use a counterfeit $20 to buy a pack of cigarettes. Now he is treated like a saint, given a state funeral, and his relatives are raking in millions.

Actually he was given three state funerals. As a combat vet, I'll be lucky if I get 4 people to my funeral.

As crazy as St. George acted, I do wonder if he was nuts as well as being a dope fiend. In both arrests he's acting like a child who's afraid his dad is going to whip him for getting into trouble. Now sometimes crooks act like this on purpose to distract while they're trying to hide their stash. But did his prison term leave such a scar on him that every time he's dealing with cops he freaked out? Would have been a reason to give up his drug habit and hobbyist counterfeiting.
