He didn't even SERVE five years. He GOT a five-year sentence because of the lax practices that have been permitted to exist in Harris County for several years. What I was surprised about with regards to St. George's home invasion / armed robbery conviction was that he only served 5 years in prison for that. Seems short for a crime with a gun - some places have a minimum 15 year sentence for any felony involving a firearm.
Wonder if it was plea bargained down to such a short time in the slammer as the target was a drug house, and the DA felt that the victim, while a woman, would either not want to testify as to why they picked her place out, or would not be a sympathic victim.
Or maybe St. George turned stool pigeon and ratted out the rest of his group of bumblers (their "plan" was to gain entry into the house by having one of their crew pretend to be with the water department and say he needed to come inside. One guy had a blue shirt so he volunteered - that was the extent of their disguise - no fancy patch with Houston Water Department on it or such, like you'd seen in the movies, just a blue shirt. These dudes were not Oceans 11), as he was the first one nailed, from using his own SUV as the getaway vehicle, with real license plate.
He ultimately did about four and a half years, with a program requirements prior to the release to parole supervision.
