Post-Trump GOP

I'm glad you could laugh. This was a devastating day. Typically, this is not something that goes on as long as it does. Don't minimize the two suicides afterwards. I'm sure that was caused by Antifa too?
What in the world would cause a Capitol police officer to do their job, and then commit suicide afterward? That is not normal behavior. Obviously, there were some other mental issues involved.

That is the question I have. There was no real violence except the policeman who murdered the female Vet and that cop didn't commit suicide. No other firing of weapons.
So why would a policeperson commit suicide?

Video was just released showing DC police opening doors to let protestors in and shows Bison guy among others admonishing people to stay calm and peaceful. Bison guy reminds First Amendment gives right to "peacefully assemble ".
In all the thousands of other gatherings of hundreds of thousands of conservatives at Tea party and Trump rallies there had never been any destructive behavior.
Trump repeatedly called for a peaceful assembly. He NEVER said to bring a gun to a knife fight like Obama.

I saw the video. Too large to post. The Patriots were following the constitution and quoting it. Those doing violence outside the capital were all Antifa plants (ie. John Sullivan). Paid actors to carry this out. Plenty of videos proving that!

This is how the Capitol Police described it. The Chicago Tribune article is slightly aged in that the coroner's report was not public yet.

Sicknick was on the line trying to hold the bike rack barrier in place as he was being sprayed with Bear Spray. If you've seen the pictures over the battles over bike racks you'll notice the crowd wasn't asking nicely to pass.

Here is a still image of a sample of the bike rack barrier battles. Notice the dude grabbing the back of the head of the cop, pulling him into the bike rack as others push/pull on it. Notice that one of the police shields has already been pulled into the crowd. Those also ended up being used as weapons to battle police just doing their job and break windows into the Capitol Building.

This was anything but a casual group of tourists. The article above has direct quotes from 2 guys charged with spraying Officer Sicknick and others with Bear Spray.

That's not hand to hand combat.. not even close..

Still lmao at the description

140 officers were injured, and 14 were hospitalized. How do you do that without some "real violence?" Was it sorta like when Darth Vader choked that dude without touching him? Because personally, I'd still call that an act of violence even if he didn't touch the guy.

Just out of curiosity, what Right wing media outlet are you all listening to that is downplaying the Capitol rioters or rationalizing what they did? I listen to Ben Shapiro, and though he has brought up the fact that the officer likely wasn't murdered, he hasn't used that to make the rioters look good or diminish what they attempted. I guess he's too cuckish for you guys.

The point of the questions for me is the blame being placed ONLY on Trump and his supporters as if Trump and they are the cause of the suicides.
Did you even watch the vids of the people being escorted in by police and the supporters calling for peaceful asembly?
We know there was BLM and Antifa there.
Which groups as a category have resorted to violence and damage?

140 officers were injured, and 14 were hospitalized. .

40 you say? What were the injuries? Can you please detail them if possible

Reason for my asking, is when I go back and read the immediate media accounts of the event things are blown out of proportion, or in some cases, just plain false.

When I took my father in law to the ER a year ago, some there were being treated for "injuries" that simply could have been tko at home. I'm wondering how many of those FORTY injuries would be best treated in ones own bathroom

So they're not injuries if one could conceivably "deal with it" at home? I can't even see the goalposts any more. The narrative that "Blue Lives Matter but only when they're on our side and not pretending to be hurt from a peaceful protest" must sell pretty well on RealTruthGazetteQAnonWWG1WGA.net.

We have videos and pictures of the battles between the rioters and police. Why is it so hard to believe that some of the police were actually injured, some severely enough to require hospital treatment? You can witness rioters hurling flagpoles, spraying bear spray and any number of actions that qualify as assault on a police officer. Dipping into the hundreds of people that have been charged and it reinforces that rioters were violent towards police. The attempt to diminish that violence is the antithesis of "accountability" that so many conservatives preach.

My favorite anecdotal story was the Rep. that called the rioters "tourists" in last Wednesday's hearing then was shown in pictures on twitter that he helped barricade the house chamber doors. Who barricades doors to protect themselves from "tourists"?

I'm simply asking what the injuries were, exactly. No need to put words in my mouth or bring drama to the discussion

Do you have the answer?

I asked a simple question, you reply with some emotional screeching. Could you please focus on the question asked? What were those 40 treated for exactly? If they were so insignificant in nature that you cannot find an answer for all of them, just say so

Tucker Carlson called. He wants his schtick about "just asking the questions" back.

This one has a paywall, but it goes through some stuff that's more gruesome than bandaids, if that's what you're going for:
Officers’ Injuries, Including Concussions, Show Scope of Violence at Capitol Riot

This is the same paper that reported Sicknick being beaten to death. In fact, this article states he was killed. We all know that's incorrect... MISINFORMATION

So I will ask once again. Please detail all forty injuries for me. Can you do that? If not, say so

I can do this all day long until you provide the detailed injuries for the supposed 40 officers that were treated

First, the number that the Capitol Police have published is 140. We can assume that at least a portion was from the Bear Spray, treated on the spot with eye wash and whatever treatment EMT provide. Sicknick is likely one of those 14 hospitalizations. I'm fairly certain the reference below to the rib/spinal disc injury is the officer that was crushed in the doorway whose video is ubiquitous. "Brain injuries" could be a reference to Sicknick or others with concussions.

Here is the Police Union rep commenting on officer injuries:
"Between USCP and our colleagues at the Metropolitan Police Department, we have almost 140 officers injured," union chairman Gus Papathanasiou said in a statement released Wednesday. "I have officers who were not issued helmets prior to the attack who have sustained brain injuries. One officer has two cracked ribs and two smashed spinal discs. One officer is going to lose his eye, and another was stabbed with a metal fence stake."

Nobody's disputing those numbers as they've been referenced over and over by D and R in various committee hearings on 1/6. Is there something bouncing around the conservative blogosphere claiming those numbers aren't real?

Numbers? I'm asking for a detailed list of injuries of the officers that day.

This will be the 4th time or so I'm asking if you have that detailed list. Yes or no?

This is one of those things where we clearly can't agree on "facts". These are data points that haven't been disputed by the various police orgs, nor Congress, yet because you don't have all the detail you don't trust the facts. I'd simply say trust your eyes (videos/pictures) or listen to that police response recording to understand that the riots were significant and reported injury numbers are at least in the ballpark.

Ashley babbitt was shot and killed. Unarmed woman gunned down. No threat to anyone.

That's a fact / data point

See, that wasn't hard to produce. When you can produce a detailed list of injuries recd by officers, let me know

I think we have all gotten off topic by arguing about the injuries of people involved, what degree of a riot it was, who is making up stories, with most of the posters being pedantic about what happened.

I think we could all agree that the vast majority of people there on the 6th were there to peacefully protest. I personally know 2 people who attended, and got nowhere near the Capitol.
I hope we can all agree that busting through barriers, climbing up walls and using other means to enter the Capitol were dead wrong. I don't care if not one soul was injured. The Rs stooped to the level of rioters and thugs that we claim to despise.
What happened inside I doubt we will ever truly know, but, at this point, I don't think it matters. Trump supporters that engaged, however small or large, did something wrong, and stupid, and gave Democrats ammo that they will use forever. And, it was all for something that was not going to change one thing.

To get back to the title of the post, if you are a moderate, or a Republican, now is the time to move beyond the events of the 6th, and start to be concerned if the R party is going to split in to two sections, those that are Trump voters to the end, and those that are open to other candidates. If that happens, Rs will never win again.
Now is the time to come together. I agreed with many of Trump's policies, not all, and certainly not the way he communicated, but, to think that he will be elected again is a pipe dream.

He will be old. He is as hated by the left as Hillary is by the right. His podcast or whatever he made since he is banned from basically everything is doing poorly. One of the reasons he won, barely, was his ability to be the first to figure out how to harness the platforms he may no longer use.
If we have a chance to win, we need to move beyond Trump and focus on grooming some younger, experienced people to serve. I think his legacy will be that he did shake things up, that needed shaking up. He opened many eyes, and, most importantly, at least in my eyes, put America first.

But firing Liz Cheney, and things like that make it too easy for the left to brand every R "Trumptards" or other silly names. Basically, we need to thank him for his service, take the good things from his platform, and begin to back a new candidate for President. Personally, I like what I see from Ron DeSantis so far, but I'm sure there are others with good credentials.
Biden is screwing up so much faster than I thought. It absolutely terrifies me what he and his administration will do over 4 years. He has already done so much harm in barely 5 months. Let's let the left make the mistakes, I do think the woke will begin to eat themselves, and regular people will start standing up to them.

But, let's not make it easy for them by clinging to Trump. It makes us easy targets for the same old, same old. Racists. Nazis. Misogynists. On and on. I am not arguing that we toss him out with the garbage, but, use some of his good ideas behind the scenes. Kind of like Joebiden is doing. (not a nickname, that is how people say his name)
I believe that the soccer moms that went left in the last election may come back due to the terrible things done to the children of this country due to the fear of Coronavirus. Their children have had to learn at home in front of a computer. They have been isolated. They have lost out on so many important parts of learning to be a friend, teammate, and competitor. The rate of their suicides is higher than ever.
These women have lost jobs or are juggling jobs, raising a family, teaching kids, I honestly don't know how they do it. I think they will come back to someone that isn't Trump. You don't mess with a mama's child.

I know some of you truly think he is the best thing that ever happened to the USA, and I don't judge you for your beliefs. But, it is time to think about the future, and how we will reverse some of the idiotic things the Biden administration has done, and will do, and get out country back.
This is the end of my TED talk! Sorry for the rant.
I honestly love this country, and, it sickens me to see what is happening to it.

Ashley babbitt was shot and killed. Unarmed woman gunned down.
Fact
No threat to anyone.
Observation

Keep in mind, the crowd she was with broke the windows of barricaded doors, the few police in front of the door sat helpless as the crowd threatened and intimidated them. Ashley then decided to jump through a broken window of a hallway that led directly to congresspeople being shuffled to safety. You can literally see these members passing the end of the hall in the video. The crowd on the lower level was heard shouting "Hang Mike Pence".

Ashley Babbitt was no more innocent than an Antifa protester crawling through a broken storefront window. Even if she was let in the front door, it was clear there was no open invitation into that hallway.

You're afraid of an unarmed woman. Go figure

When a crowd of rioters like that is advancing by smashing windows, doors and screaming "hang Mike Pence" and other aggressive obscenities and your job is to protect Congress Members can you take the chance she isn't armed? Barriers, close doors/windows and Police trying to physically hold them back weren't enough.

Many of those rioters walked past this on their jaunt up the Capitol Hill steps.

So shooting an unarmed woman is the plan of action. Brilliant

Well she was white and wearing a MAGA hat. You know he couldn’t tackle and restrain, the MAGA hat tipped the scales.

Liberals around here still defend Floyd and others for getting shot but no outrage of an unarmed woman being shot crawling through a window. Liberals expect police to not shoot violent, hardened criminals putting cops in threatening situations. Apparently to the warped minded, crawling through a window suddenly is justification for deadly force, which the liberals rarely ever agree with.

Weak sauce. Pathetic, really.
