Things like farm subsidies and other federal money must be so secure that they just don't think any of it is at risk anymore. It used to be priority #1. Mrs. Deez has family in Iowa and I once asked why they elected both Tom Harkin (pretty liberal Democrat) and Charles Grassley (pretty conservative Republican) for decades with neither having much opposition. The answer was that regardless of who controlled the Senate, they always had a powerful advocate not only for farm subsidies but for ag issues in general. Few actually cared about either one's ideology.

A few years back I sat down with my Uncle who sits on some mucky muck boards for Ag growers in Nebraska. He regaled me with stories about hosting delegations from Asia and South America, interested in their soy beans. He was most interested in selling their crops internationally. So yes, it could be that they take the subsidies for granted at this point. My uncle is wicked smart, got his Computer Engineering degree in 70's before heading home to take care of the family farm. He was more interested in Trump's beating up China though he readily admitted that it was more rhetoric than results driven.

IMO, the dem's were the first to succumb to this but Boebert is a "social media politician". She is going for notoriety. Doesn't matter if she is famous or infamous, she just wants to be a brand. This is what AOC and the squad do on the other side. They'll ride the politician thing as long as they can and then they will attempt to make a jump to "TV personality". Ideas are not plans. AOC believes one can just pass a bill and instantly all things are implemented with no harm coming as a result. AOC ignores that the masses cannot afford her 'agenda.' AOC and her ilk are destroying the nation from within.

I mention Republicans because we were talking about Lauren Boebert. Yes, there are plenty of Democrats I could also include. In fact, there are more members I'd put on the list than off. The House has far more show horses than work horses.

AOC is supporting a 26 year old immigration attorney by the name of Jessica Cisneros. She is the Democrat challenger to long-time Democrat House Rep, Henry Cuellar. The Liberals hate Cuellar. He's not extreme enough for their tastes but Jessica sure is with her inflammatory rhetoric. This is why I don't like AOC. It's all well and good to have ideas but she is out crushing moderates. And guess what? The FBI raided Henry's home a few weeks ago. This raid absolutely impacted the primary which is now going to a run-off. I have no doubt that the FBI is being used by the BA to run Henry off. It impacted the primary. Henry has not been charged and there has been no comment by the FBI. But the damage was done.

I like you man but when you act like AOC is fringe, I have to wonder. She is absolutely a menace (in my view) with power.

There is a reason progressives had their own response to the State of the Union speech. They are still on the outside looking in on setting the D agenda.

Are you suggesting that AOC spurred the FBI's investigation of Cuellar? That's a pretty extreme conspiracy theory if you are. More than likely, AOC viewed Cuellar as a susceptible moderate D that she could endorse, maybe give money to to expand her own power base in the D party.

If you mean to Republican's then I hope so but she is right there. It's a complicated town. Many Catholics and lots of oil and gas jobs. But many Hispanic Republicans that I know (who liked Trump) also have illegal aliens living with them as maids/caretakers. It's almost as if it's so baked into the culture that their status doesn't mean anything. The women come from Nuevo Laredo and will do amazing amounts of work for amazingly little amount of money. They will do it for weeks on end without visiting their children back across the river.

Let me elaborate. Laredo is about as corrupt as it gets. Other leading Democrats have not had FBI agents visit them. Why is that?

MGT makes a lot of noise but twitter fights and pithy article quotes don't equate to successful legislation. AOC has been put in her place by Pelosi and D leadership quite often. The squad squawks loud but what legislation have the gotten enacted? They've influence the agenda a little but they haven't moved the needle which has publicly frustrated AOC and her supporters.

That's what I'm thinking. Some democracy eh? Guess it seems to not hold up in Democrat primaries. We've seen/heard Superdelegates openly claim they are not bound to vote for the primary candidate who won the primary election. They rig it left and right. Then they act like the popular vote is some sacred cow that only Republicans try to manipulate.
