I've been saying this for a few years now without any proof. When all those angry liberal women protest anything they "choose the bear" or shave their heads or get another nose piercing, etc. All of that leads to less liberal breeding which is awesome! Fewer unhinged and out of control liberal kids.

This is why public education is so important to them. Corrupting the children of conservatives is all they have.

It's so confusing to me. I see supposed Christian conservative women complaining about school choice and screeching about how Abbott doesn't support public school. Like government run school is somehow Christian or conservative in any way. It is actual totalitarian socialism and through decades of conditioning and propaganda, just about every housewife in Texas thinks public school is God's school even when they push atheism, LGBT+, and allow for bullying. Of course it is mainly school teachers that say these things. They don't realize how filthy and disgusting it is to complain that the people who pay them won't have 100% control over education. School choice potentially takes money from their pocket, and they think their criticisms are based on righteousness or empathy. In reality their criticisms are based on protecting their turf like a street gang.

That's people treating the school system like a jobs program--primarily there to provide jobs to the employees rather than primarily about providing a good education for the students.

A few things to unpack. First, many self-proclaimed Christians don't actually accept the Bible as God's word. As a good friend whose Episcopal Diocese split from the main church over similar issues told me, that's what this is really about. It's not really about LGBTQ issues. It's about submitting to the Bible, and many so-called Christians will not.

Second, believe it or not, a lot of teachers don't know how bad it really is. They don't follow politics and have no idea who Chris Rufo or Corey DeAngelis are. If they aren't in a big city or suburban school district, they may not see it. For example, until I showed her what was going on, Mrs. Deez was unaware. Why? Because she was apolitical andhad only taught in Belton, where none of the bad stuff was happening. After we got married, she moved to RRISD and saw more of it, and now she wouldn't let our kid anywhere near a public school. But she had to be shown.

Third, if you're a teacher, vouchers are hard to accept. Think about it. Vouchers aren't something you do because one or even many teachers are bad. It's something you do if there is total systemic failure from top to bottom, and of course, there is. The rot dominates academia where teachers are trained, the state education regulatory agencies (like TEA), most school boards, the curriculum writers, textbook companies, and obviously the unions. It's not going to be saved any time soon. Well, if you are part of that system, that's hard to acknowledge, and of course, you'll be ostracized if you do so publicly.
