Some of the 247 Mike Roach Texas Stampede on the impact of the Yurcich hire -- fairly typical Mike Roach stuff if you are used to his style

" .... we spoke with several coaches around the state of Texas to get a feel for his reputation and recruiting style. Yurcich doesn’t come with a huge recruiting rep, but I was told that he’s been effective in small doses when he does get into recruiting.

Bottom line is, Yurcich’s first duty is to elevate the Longhorn offense and recruiting will be secondary. “He’s fine one-on-one with kids and their families, but he’s here for his schematic ability,” one source told me.

.... Perhaps the most important question is where things will stand between Yurcich and 2021 quarterback commit Jalen Milroe. Milroe was the catalyst for Texas’ recruiting success in 2021 during the summer. He’s also been the vocal leader in the class and a face for 2021 along with fellow commit Hayden Conner.

.... I can confirm Jeff Howe’s report that feelers have been sent out to Kansas wide receivers coach Emmett Jones. A former offensive coordinator under Reginald Samples at Skyline High and head coach at South Oak Cliff, Jones is the type of made man to make a huge impact in Dallas if Texas were to land him. Jones formerly served under Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech before making the move to Kansas to work for Les Miles. ...

From what I’ve heard regarding the list of staffers Texas is doing the legwork on, I’d expect these hires to be geared towards taking recruiting up a notch while improving the overall teaching ability. If these early names are any indication, Texas will be looking to strengthen their in-state and national effort on the recruiting trail. "

Don't like bringing in guys from losing programs at all. Losing is a disease and it is very contagious .... Herman brought in a bunch of coaches from mediocre and/or losing programs the last couple years onto his extended staff..... Look how that has served us.....
Recruiting ability should be the last thing on Tom's check list.... Its NOW or never for Herman. He has to WIN next year, and recruiting for 2019 is basically DONE. He better go get the best on field coaches he can bribe in here ASAP.

You might want to look at Ed's resume before calling him a coach from a loser program .... Dude spent some time at USC when USC was good ( late 1990s thru early 2000s ).
It's always pretty complicated... successes and failures. Ed O was objectively terrible as Ole Miss Head Coach and a head coach he coordinated for got fired on the tarmac at USC He has some stellar seasons as position coach and coordinator before. It's always a mixed bag.

Best head coaching I ever saw in the NFL (pre-Bellichick) was by a guy who went 1-15 in his first attempt. Jimmy Johnson still had some of the same players and assistant coaches with him when he won consecutive super bowls for Dallas in the 1990s. Can Texas win with coaches who have never won anything anywhere? Probably not. Can they win with coaches who have not been with winning teams at every previous stop? Yes!

Redemption, underdogs turning the tables, turnarounds stories, team building, leadership, learning from losses. Those are what make football fun for me to observe. People aren't static. Some learn, grow and overcome. They inspire me and others.

Could you try reading “Failing Forward” by John Maxwell? You need more positive influences in your life. I’ll ship you a litter of Beagle puppies if you send me your address. Just trying to help man!

Well Ed O is nowhere near a great coach. He's benefiting from a guy named Joe Burrow exactly like Mack Brown benefited with VY's play. I will give him credit for handing the offense over to his coaches.

JJ was a great coach but if I am not mistaken, the Hershel Walker trade (1989...18 players and picks involved) — for which Johnson may deserve credit (I don’t know) — laid the groundwork for their decade of glory.

Both Johnson and Harrah take the credit. Truth be known Jerrah probably did the con job on the Vikings which provided the draft picks with Johnson picking the players.

More Herman on Yurcich:

"I couldn’t have dreamed of a better fit in terms of similarities in the way we believe in offensive football."

Herman also said coaching staff will have a 5-5 split between offensive and defensive assistants.

Herman says also said Ehlinger already has his NFL draft grade back from the advisory committee.
Coach “absolutely” believes Ehlinger will be at Texas in 2020.

The grade should have been somewhere between be a coach or put your degree to work as a QB and FA as a TE or LB.
