Our next OC and DC

And here is Nahlin on the projected front 7 -- obviously written the day before the Mitchell news hit. And there is also time for him to withdraw from the portal

"How it will shake out is impossible to even gauge because a safety or two will move to LB. Until we get clarity on that, I don’t know. SDE: Bimage then Jones (Jones is on thin ice) | NT: Coburn/Sweat | 3-tech: Graham/Ojomo | WDE: Ossai then Vaughns | LB: Juwan Mitchell and Dele then Tillman and Gbenda. If/when they move a quality safety it won’t be to sit him. Who that player is that moves could depend on how the back end shakes out first. Mitchell will almost assuredly start but who plays alongside him is a crap shoot."

Mitchell has entered the portal. Is the portal really one way once you enter? Can he reconsider, get his stuff together, make proper amends, and stay on the team?

Or is that bridge a smoldering pile of ashes and cinders at this point?

Herman can withdraw a scholarship of anyone in the portal. He has not done that yet unless he did it on Javonne Shepherd. It has been reported that after assessing his position, Javonne wanted back in but evidently that request was not granted.

It might be the case that Mitchell may want to see what Hutzler is about before he sits a whole year on someone else's bench or downgrades his competition completely.

If you jump in the portal and the coaches try to talk you out of it right-a-way, then you might be able to crawfish back out, but otherwise its probably a one way street.

Good news is that Mitchell, upon further consideration and consultation, is back with the team.

Here is something from "The Eyes" about what Ash might do with our secondary

"So how does Ash view his personnel in the back end of his defense heading into spring football, which begins March 24 and concludes with the Orange-White Game on April 25?

According to a team source, in addition to Anthony Cook moving from corner to nickel and Josh Thompson moving from nickel to corner, Ash wants to see Chris Adimora at nickel - in addition to Cook - and plans to have B.J. Foster (out for spring following shoulder surgery) battle at safety with Caden Sterns, Chris Brown, Tyler Owens and Montrell Estell.

Adimora excelled at nickel late last season, making plays whenever he got on the field. There is excitement among the coaches about what Adimora can do as a sophomore after capping his freshman season with a nice pass breakup deep down the field in a win over Utah in the Alamo Bowl.

Cornerback figures to be a great battle headlined by Jalen Green, D'Shawn Jamison, Thompson, Kenyatta Watson and Marques Caldwell.

Some have wondered if Foster could be spun down to linebacker. A team source said Foster “may never be big enough to be a full-time Will (weakside linebacker). But we’ll keep letting him grow to see if he does.” ..."
