Awaiting confirmation for now. WTF??? I am assuming that Murray and Lodge are on a troll job, for now.

This visit happened oh so quietly. That is leaving everybody puzzled. No confirmation on what happened, but Murray and Lodge are indeed at Austin today, and I am not sure what the two guys meant by posting those jersey pictures. The recruiting sites are all kinda stunned that none of them knew that these two were visiting Austin, but nobody is saying anything. No idea if there is any serious move towards commitments or anything. I would seriously doubt if this is anything more than a visit and then a twitter troll job by Murray and Lodge. We will see.

This is the most ****** up, bizarre season of recruiting feeding frenzy I have ever seen, and that's saying a lot. I think its the instant social media overload that has finally tipped the ship. There are so many crazy rumors and intrigues I don't know what to believe. And for $9.95 you can read even more inaccurate and ill advised tripe from "professionals."

Somebody already twitterd this.

I live in Allen. I can tell you that the Aggies up here are going crazy! Twitter and Facebook are blowing up! There are serious football fanatics up here, and they follow every player's move. Half of the Allen team is being recruited. Kliff Kingsbury was at the school last week. I can only pray that Kyler will flip to UT. He is the best HS football player that I have ever seen. No equal.

That Murray edit is from the indefatigable PaulHook_em on twitter. The dude edits them out in 10 minutes and it is up all over the internet.

Anyone really believe Kevin Murray loves Texas? He was part of all that Sherrill crap...a big part. The NFL wouldn't touch him....oh I know it was because he had a severely broken ankle.....much more to that story folks....Kyler Murray ain't coming here....he's a perriloux

If it's a troll job, then it's one of the highest-profile troll jobs I've seen in the recruiting game. Twitter wasn't around back in 1979, but if it was, this is the equivalent of Dickerson posting an Aggie jersey before he drove off in the Trans-Am.

fellers understand this.....daddy Kevin was a big part of the fed ex scam.....his boy ain't coming to Texas....there is a hell of a lot more daddy was involved in.....nfl said no....oh he was drafted very late, maybe even free agent....the NFL wanted nothing to do with daddy....I'm just tellin ya

True, but word is Augie is the mix. Still a long shot, but anything could happen after both Strong and Augiie visit with Dad and son.

Not true about Kevin Murray. They put a lot of the FedEx scam on him, and he considerably soured with many people at A&M and pretty much the whole aggy fanbase. But he is an aggy still. The thing is that he just doesn't like the air raid offense and the associated poor defense that Sumlin runs. He has made no bones about it and has been pretty critical. He is a big fan of Watson's offensive philosophies and thoughts on QBs, and they have quickly become big friends too.

When it comes to his own son, and more importantly, considering the baseball future Kyler has (expected to be a first round pick if he goes to MLB), his interest in Texas is understandable. There were many many reports for months that he has been trying to turn Kyler away from a&m to wards Texas. Doesn't mean it's going to happen, but if Kyler says he is okay with it, even aggy admits that Kevin probably will be a bit happier. The son's future is more important to a dad than college affiliation (just like Hager sending his son to Baylor). The reason why this visit happened is actually Kevin Murray. The reason why Kyler Murray may still not come to Texas will be his liking of his friends at A&M. Plus, don;t forget that he is probably going to sit behind Kyle Allen for 2 years now, whereas he could immediately start at QB at Texas and decide on his future and go for baseball if it doesn't work out. So, there are things in play in our favor here. The dad probably likes this option more than the a&m option at this point. I will be surprised if Kyler Murray agrees with his dad, though.

Also, a great former Longhorn, Calivin Murray, is his uncle. He is supposed to have been pushing Kyler for a long time to Texas too.

I am seeing unconfirmed reports that Kyler met Augie Garrido today too, Unsure.

Sounds like there are lots of interesting dynamics at play with this one. He is definitely a great QB, would love to see him compete for the job with Heard and others.

And according to Aggie, D Mack just started following V Bedford today on twitter. Somethings going down.

But what does momma want? Isn't that one of the recruiting golden rules?

Btw, thanks Jay for all ur posts, I'm a long time listener, first time caller

LC cracks me up!

Echo all the prior posts saying this is the most bizarre, most fun lead up to NSD ever ... Regardless of what happens next, we are back on the map,

I recall Florida State always closing with many big recruits at the tape. That's drama, that's fun.

Thanks, Jay,

The Aggies needed a scapegoat to distract the NCAA from other issues, so those scapegoats were Rod Dockery & Kevin Murray. Side note, the NCAA investigators were so incompetent, that they never walked into Rod's warehouse (his office was at the end of a long hall which had five plus doors into the warehouse) to learn that Dockery never owned in printing presses - he contracted everything out.

Calvin had a health problem which caused all baseball programs to shy away from him, including A&M. Gus had him take a physical and said "OK". The family was very grateful. There is also an aunt who graduated from Texas.

I have been told for months that Kyler was really looking hard at Oregon, but that Braxton Miller could be a wildcard in that issue. Eugene is a long way from family.

I don't think that Kyler will switch to us, but it would be really nice if he did. I'm told by those close to the issue that Kevin is guiding but not pushing his son to any destination other than one where he would be happy.

I guess believe what you want but Kevin Murray was complicit big time with Jackie Sherrill....and was almost completely shunned by the nfl....had nothing to do with his broken ankle

Even so, people are allowed to grow.

I don't think it's too far fetched that his dad just wants to guide his son in the best direction - which dad might feel is Texas.
Not saying it's likely, just a possibility. Slim, but nonetheless.......

Word is that Daddy had enough of Shagcopter and tempers got way out of hand. May or may not happen, but this is not a troll trip. Doesn't matter much anyway as MLB is likely final direction.

That word is out there too. Not sure if multiple sources have confirmed it yet. But wouldn't that be something if true? Sumlin continuing to send recruits like Malik and Kyler our way because somebody or other gets upset after a conversation with him? I think he will really hear it from the aggy blowhards if he ends up losing Kyler to us.

Even though this quick unofficial visit may not come to much, it may have the effect of suddenly giving some mini-momentum to our recruiting which was kinda going meh the last couple of weeks. Just the idea that guys like Kyler and Lodge are thinking enough about us to make a visit, helps at critical points like 12 days to go for NSD.

Getting Murray would be a very big deal for several reasons. 1. He is a baller. 2. He is a winner. 3. He is a good kid. 4. He will bring others with him (the real story here is that he brought Lodge with him on a last minute visit). 5. Him flipping would recreate lots of recruiting momentum. So the reality is that even if he commited and then still decided to go. MLB, #s 4 and 5 above would do wonders for the program. And frankly. If he already knows that he is going MLB either way and he and especially Daddy are furious with Sumlin and would like to see him gone, why not flip and bring as many with you as possible.

These kids possess a lot of power and their last minute decisions will have an effect on more than them or the schools they ultimately choose. I only hope these last min deals are heartfelt and really not just a time to mess up other teams and players plans. Because of the chain reaction, teams as well as other players could be left holding the bag or left at the alter, even if contingent plans have been made; somebody always gets left behind. Then some players may feel slighted by suddenly being 'second choice' or possibly not be able to land with their top choices due to these last minute deals.

21 hours and ticking... Still not a word from Kyler Murray or Demarkus Lodge about their tweeted jersey pictures. Not to the a&m folks nor to anybody else. This is really strange. If they were trolling, at some point they have to indicate that. So, what was their idea behind the coordinated posting of the pictures? Nobody has a clue, still, almost a day later (which is an eternity in recruiting).... So my initial question in the thread title still remains - what the hell is this?
