Horns vs Coogs Game Thread 2023

Mona,

Why don't you think Malik isn't a runner? He's 6'5" and looks every bit of 250. Braking off 40 or 50 yards? No, but I certainly think he's an option of short yardage. Who knows, I here that some teams are putting the QB under center instead of snapping the ball 6 yards deep when they only need one or two yards.

Maybe short yardage, but I heard people saying he is less mobile than Ewers. Of course those people are wrong most of the time so who knows.

Either way, Sark doesn't run his QBs so thinking about it is a waste of time.

Bingo. No way a man that big would be easy to tackle.

Would anyone hesitate to run a quarterback sneak with Murphy? Probably not. But with Ewers, we all fear an injury, and for good reason.

With TCU, ISU, and TT down this year, it appears BYU and KSU will be the remaining games that test UT’s coaching.
Realistically, we can probably beat anyone, and certainly anyone can beat us. We proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt today.

A QB sneak is reasonable. But y'all have moved the goalposts from running QB to QB sneak. Also y'all haven't reconciled the fact that Sark will never run his QB that much. It just won't happen.

I’ll put it this way. When QE runs, I cringe. Don’t think I will be cringing if a man that is 6’5” and 250 takes off with the ball. Five to seven times a game works for me.

Regardless of what else I said. Sark will never do that. Why do Texas fans live in fables and imagination. Facts are facts.

Monahans- Aggie logic is saying Texas sucks after we get a win and a Top 6 or 7 ranking.

Why do you keep saying “Texas” instead of “we”?
Hardin Simmons grad or Angelo? No for sure it’s ACU.

Houston is terrible. What are you talking about? Graduated from the College of Engineering in 1997. You?

The hell you say...next you'll be claiming teams can use a player called a tight end to catch passes.

If you can’t get adequate pressure with the normal front, blitz. And keep blitzing. You say that it exposes our secondary? My question is, how would we even know?

I don’t buy the argument that the absence of Watts and Catalon made a big difference. Watts has been exposed in pass coverage all year, and Catalon is great against the run, but only average in pass coverage.

I believe the ineptitude we saw — this week and at times in the RRR — to be a scheme related, not due to a deficiency in talent. We better get it fixed, and fast. Otherwise we’re going to get bludgeoned down the stretch.
the pass rush problem cannot be fixed without a good edge, that is our pass rush problem. The pass defense would be helped when Watt and Catalon get healthy.

Sark “ I coach up or down to the level of my opponent. It is hard. Do you really believe it is easy to coach down to the likes of Wyoming or UH with all the talent I have? Sometimes I have to depend on PK’s defensive schemes to realize my coaching goal.”

Everyone hates us...I expect all the games left to be tough.
IMO this is such a tired and false platitude. We're not "everyone's Super Bowl" because at this point, we're just not that relevant.
I will not, for one second, think that we(Texas) are not the biggest game on all of our remaining opponents schedule. Forget what is said publicly...everyone hates us...Embrace It...We Are Texas:bevo:

All that matters is that we won.
All that matters is the W; win all of the remainder by 1 and Texas will be 11-1. Also, for what it is worth Murphy was 1 for 2 for 7 important yards, but he has zero touch on his passes.

For those bringing up Mack, don't overlook the fact that Mackovic at least left a semblance of an offense plus Ricky. Strong destroyed all phases of the game and, as Sabre rightly states, Herman was a cancer both on and off the field.

You know what?
Winning IS hard.
And I wouldn't mind hearing that after every win.
Ask USC or Clemson.
We're 6-1.
My heart may give out first but I'll take these ugly wins over a loss any day.
March on Horns.

Ask OU, UNC and Washington.

Wyoming has proven to be a decent team.
And Houston is arcing upwards and getting better the last couple of games.
We do need to develope that killer attitude.
And I don't really care if Sark coaches up or down to his opponent as long we get the W.

We played at their place. We have a biggest target in the conference on our backs. We played without our top 2 DBs. We played part of the game without our QB.

We won.

In previous years, we lose this game.

I am frustrated at how our defense played, but in. previous years, I was frustrated after a loss. This year, it is after a win.

I'll take it.

IMO we played 3 qtrs w/o our starting qb. I think QE was hurt earlier in the game and that is why all the short dumpoff passes to the RB. The guys downfield who were open he couldnt get it there.
