Horns vs Coogs Game Thread 2023

Well this is true.
I have to remind myself this is tge kind of game we were losing more often than not,

how do you get a culture of wiming? Just win baby.

I am pretty doubtful we win out though.

Wow, watched the game again and I really question that spot. We truly lucked out. Justified? Dunno but sure glad about the win.

If THAT was only questionable maybe we lucked out
But there were several questionable calls prior to that.
DKR was right. They usually even out.

Sark inherited a lot of poison on his first year team.
OU snuck past UCF and USC got beat by Utah, ergo, Riley sucks and Vennables is a total numb nuts. In 1967, big cigars were after DKR and Mack Brown spent more time on the hot seat than off. The aggies ran off Bear Bryant. All by the likes of this idiotic reasoning. Get ready. The entire Big XII would gladly dump every game for a win against Texas. They have zero to lose. Big XII refs are like Russian roullet They might call anything, miss everything and are generally laughable. Quite-honestly, my biggest worry is that Alabama big cigars (who have football savvy, common sense and brains bigger than balls) will listen to Saban and come get Sarkesian. If the UT cigars had listened to DKR we would have had Mike Campbell. Jimbo oughta be available coach Monahans.

The personal foul on Hill as he tripped over another player and barely touched the runner was BS.

No argument but when we do they often have a clear shot at qb and miss. Like they did Sat. Look I’m not saying it’s easy or that it’s just us, only that it’s frustrating to watch.

It seems like they go for the kill shot instead of “breaking down” as they approach. In high school I was the gunner and corner who had to tackle and cover Alfred Jackson...a four year starter and UT’s best receiver on Earl’s Team..on kickoff and punt returns and man on man in the passing game. He went on to play for the Atlanta Falcons for seven years. He taught me that.

Quarterbacks and Returners aren’t close to full speed as you approach but you are. Athletes at this level ARE going to see you and juke you. You will fly right by a relatively stationary target. Kill Shots only work if they have their backs turned to you the whole time...that’s a very rare opportunity.

Once again, there NO Big XII officials. Walt Anderson filled all slots with rejects from the Big Sky. MWC, and WAC. When Anderson left, he appointed Walleye Burks (himself a Big Sky reject) to succeed him rather one of the TWO competent referees (Mike Defee of Nederland & Cooper Castleberry of Lufkin). ******** Bowelsby agreed. Before leaving the Big XII, Bowelsby signed off on a sharing agreement whereby The Big XII shares officials weekly with the Big Sky & MWC. There are dozens of better UIL HS officials but Anderson's friends block them UNLESS of course they are dentists, sell dental equipment, and/or finance dental equipment.

Anderson covered his butt by getting Cooper & Mike plush gigs in the NFL. If you think my analysis is "harsh", talk to some officials that worked under Anderson.

The officiating yesterday was right at the typical Big XII God Awful standard, holding apparently is just fine and weird spots and phantom personal fouls seemingly for the hell of it are way too common. Did Texas catch a break with a likely bad spot, yep but if the refs call any of about ten different egregious holds on that UH line including one on that very play, then it never gets to that point, the refs kept UH in the game and then I guess forgot that they are supposed to screw Texas every chance they get on the way out the door and went to their baseline just plain incompetent norm. I will not miss the pathetic officiating that the Big XII has rolled out for well over a decade plus.

It’s a do-or-die,revenge game for every opponent and that hate is just not yet being matched with emotional intensity or creative play calling on Offense, Defense and especially Special Teams. Punt returns are definitely lacking. Field Goal Team point production is just better than OK. One punt block attempt cost us big...it was a terrible call however OU scored a touchdown on that drive.

I believe we are the biggest game on each of our opponents schedule. I believe they sell out during the game and do what they should do to prepare during the week.

Is winning hard? It's been hard for us, for a long time.

I was highly disappointed when we let them back in the game. 21-0 felt good. Then the bottom dropped out. I don't know why it happened other than maybe Dana's veins bleeding all over his team.

Six wins and one loss is pretty darn good given our recent history (going back to Mack's last couple of years). The OU loss was a game in our hands. We are a top ten team. The needle is definitely pointing up.

I choose light.

Anderson is a dentist so whaddaya expect? I've never had one that didn't screw something up in my mouth, even the highest rated ones. I'm pretty sure dentist's are the worst doctors that exist.

Maybe short yardage, but I heard people saying he is less mobile than Ewers. Of course those people are wrong most of the time so who knows.

Either way, Sark doesn't run his QBs so thinking about it is a waste of time.
A smart coach adjusts. Lincoln Riley didn't run his QB's too much. However, when he had Jalen Hurts and Kyler Murray there were more runners. Sark will surely adjust a little.

As so eloquently stated by the poet Dana Holgerson about Texas.
“Screw them. They can go wherever they want. They don’t want us, and we don’t want them. So move on.”
Goodbye Coogs. Best wishes.
Goodbye to Kansas and after November, thec will someday be a memory akin to that crazy gf from 1983.
Aggie Jack Pardee’s Coogs blew Texas out three straight years in the late 80”s. They never let up and as I remember ran the score up until the very end. Brutal! They won the conference just 4 times. Nobody will miss them. Most will remember them best for a Dallas councilman commenting on their coming to the Cotton Bowl one year, saying “ for the city of Dallas it was the worst team to come because half of their fans will eat at 7-11 and the other half will rob it””.
