Good news on Sam

If he re-injures that shoulder it could be the end of his season.

Not sure it is a good idea to play if he still has "some soreness and a little pain" but what do I know.

A. I would not announce a starter until gametime.

B. Hopefully he is okay and there is no issue, but if he really is not okay, I do not like this at all.

We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out. The good news is Okie State is not great this year.

My take on it is you go with Sam and take your chances. Sam goes down, Shane is more than capable of directing this offense, maybe not the same as Sam, but can lead the team in Sam's stead....

You know quite a bit,
About web site computer stuff.
Football? Jury is still out.
You're climbing the wrong tree there, my friend.

It's on Herman.
I hope Sam is good, we kick their *** and Sam suffers no further injury.
If Sam goes down and misses multiple games or the rest of the season, well...let's hope for the best.

Moondog, I didn’t mean to piss you off calling you out as a pessimist even though we are ranked in the top 5 or 6 less than 2 years into our new staff. I was kinda giving a joke to Dion about his knowledge to keep this site going, but kinda joking about his football knowledge.
You see it loses it’s luster when you have to explain.
Back to the point.
Everything is on Hermam.
We get it, you don’t like him.
To say if the QB is injured it’s on the coach, speaks of your true thoughts.
If Sam can go he should go.
Be careful of your judgment, Tom has a pretty good class coming in.

Dion knows his football!
We need Sam all season, even if it means sitting the OSU game.
I trust Coach Herman, he knows best.

My guess is that Shane starts. Just because Sam can play doesn’t mean he does play.

I give MD grief here and there but all he wants is w’s just like the rest of us. That being said I feel like Texas can’t play scared or safe. Any of our players could go down at any time, but that can’t or shouldn’t be a factor. I agree it would be the safe thing to do to rest Sam....BUT, the don’t go quietly in this good night mentality would be to buckle up the chin strap and give em hell up in Stillwater, make em eat s***, and get ready to go 1-0 against the couch burners!!!! Who is with me?! What say you, fellow horn fans? This team has showed us gumption since the Maryland loss. Something special that says this is in fact a real football team with a real football coach! They’re going to go up to Stillwater with steel resolve and show anyone who cares to see that this is no ordinary team that breaks under adversity....I believe this. I am zuckercanyon and I approve this message!!!!

Actually, you don't get ****.
I have never said or implied I don't like Herman.
By saying "it's on Herman" I mean that he's the coach and it's his call.
And I don't care what his recruiting class is next year.
I don't follow anybody blindly.
I will criticize or show concern when I feel it is warranted.
That's what fans do on message boards.\

And who is this "we" you speak of?
Got a mouse in your pocket?

We've lost to OSU 3 in a row and there's some storm cloud warnings out with Sam not 100% and 2 starting corners suspended for a half.

Hopefully Keontay is going to do his best Jamaal Charles imitation and run wild. We need to jump on them early and not let them in the game.

Is it going to be for the whole first half? I wish I knew for sure what the punishment really is....first quarter first half first drive....

Benched for at least one series.
Along with LJH.

I really hope with all of the hype playing in Stillwater at night with the paddle people, and the whole Barry Sanders thing, that the Horns actually go in and play lights out tomorrow night!! I also hope that they underestimate us coming in hearing of Sam's sore shoulder and 3 of our best players sitting for a series, and we totally dominate them, and Sam has an amazing game. I have seen many times where other teams report their QB is playing injured and there is controversy surrounding the team, or they have the worst defense or offensive line, and that said team plays light out!! We have to go in and play our game bottom line.

1. Sam may or may not be 100% and our run game could be limited as a result.
2. The suspended players could possibly be pointing to a deeper problem.
3. An opponent who is hungry, well coached and ready to play.
4. Stoolwater at night. The local moonshiners will be out of product by kickoff.
5. Our too close games of late lead to an uneasy feeling that we are ripe for the taking.

More likely (I hope) his best Ced Benson imitation. it would be nice to see a 25-carry, 140-yard outing with a whole bunch of 5- and 6-yard rumbles.

This doesn't scare me. We've never lost to OSU there at night, and that includes a team quarterbacked by Tyrone Swoopes. Not saying we're a lock, but for whatever reason, we have traditionally not had an issue with the gameday atmosphere there. Hoping that will continue.

Htown77, I agree totally. Let Zero State spend all their prep time wondering which QB will play - makes it more difficult for them to prepare if they're prepping for 2 QBs instead of one. You can announce your starter five minutes before kickoff.

Oh, heh, I was interpreting it to mean Ohio State.

They burn couches all over this wonderful country, maybe except for Austin.

Recent GameDay, Oregon Ducks at The Pirate's Wazzu cougars, Reece Davis made a comment during the crowd noise that probably went unnoticed: "We've heard that local thrift shops are sold out of used couches."

I'm cereal. Super cereal.

Ikea needs to develop a product line: "Football Saturday in the USA --- Faux Couches to Burn!"

Or it’s our time to kick some ***!

I would guess Gundy is preparing more for Shane as risking the remainder of the season on playing a QB who probably isn't fully healed is not something a sane coach would do. Unfortunately, Gundy has and will continue to stress to his DL's and LB's fair but hard hits on Sam at any chance if he plays. Just part of the game. Double unfortunately, one of those DL's or LB's will likely forget the "fair" part of those instructions.
