General Presidential Campaign: Trump vs Hillary

I don't know, he was an actor. Hollywood didn't exist yet, but actors tend to heavily lean toward the liberal side. :smile1:

I'm pretty sure there are a few modern day actors that plan to move to Canada if Trump wins would pull the trigger at him if they had the opportunity. Of course they'd argue that it wasn't their intent so no charges would be brought.

Or they used software to look for key terms. Pretty simple, really.

Since Obama was savvy enough to use a pseudonym when he corresponded with Hillary's server, you think these people might have taken steps to hide what they were doing from half-hearted discovery attempts?

Savvy enough to be easily detected during the previous investigation. If the FBI was making a "half-hearted discovery attempt" then why the congressional notification 11 days ago?

Snowden thinks minutes-to-hours.

Implying that the discovery phase was "half-hearted" because people don't believe that humans can search for/read emails quickly doesn't change the fact that someone could just as easily make a damn Yahoo! mail account and use it for shady business either way. If clintonemail.com was the target, then it's obvious that out of the 650K, there weren't many that were new or damaging enough to help come up with indictment dirt. One wouldn't need be "savvy" to hide what they were doing from a search function.

As someone with a fair amount of experience in data loss prevention software and technology on the corporate side, I beg to differ in terms of mining the email. Of course, it still take a human to evaluate the true/false positives but it's helpful to go through large amounts of data in a small amount of time.
And as someone with a fair amount of experience with criminal investigations and criminal law, I stand by my opinion.

When you base your opinion ONLY on search terms (as here), you MISS the criminal activity that you were SUPPOSED to actually be LOOKING for.

Bill Maher admits that he and other liberals were full of crap and (cried wolf) when they demonized Bush, McCain, and Romney. Link.
Yeah, if your candidate is going to get demonized regardless, nominate a flamethrower.

Well, America chose to roll the dice. I think it is very unlikely that Trump will be a generic, good president. He will either be great or he will be a colossal failure. Here's to hoping he is great.

It was an easy decision on rolling the dice. The path to the left we know was going toward a 500ft cliff. We don't know what the path to the right is but pretty sure it's not a cliff.

If your goal is to win the presidency at all costs, yes. If your goal is to get your platform implemented and make the country better ... time will tell.
To be fair, the Democrats have been doing this for years. demonize Republicans as bigots, scare old people that they will lose their SS and Medicare, etc. They just got beat by a bigger demagogue this time.

I don't know what the hell you mean by that. They held the House and the Senate and got POTUS. How you gonna top that? What "costs" did they really incur here? Please don't talk to me about down the road, you don't know what is going to happen tomorrow anymore than I do.

That's not the gamble I'm talking about. I agree 100% that the path to the right is better. My concern is the horse we are riding on to take that path.

The "cost" I am talking about is turning leadership of the Republican Party over to Donald Trump. Yes, doing so got the party into the White House with full control of Congress. Whether it was worth it remains to be seen.

That leadership needed to be changed.

They live in a bubble and do not understand their own voters (or even care about them in many instances). Even worse, once the newly elected Rs arrive in town, the R leadership coerces them with committee positions. The rookies are forced with the choice of -- having to sell out for a small chunk of power versus sticking with their principles (and those of the people who elected them) with no power. And I just hate it.

I would agree with you there. The Republican party is fundamentally different now. I am not really sure what it stands for anymore - certainly not fiscal conservatism. Both parties are now essentially populist parties with different constituents.

The GOPe sealed their fate when they crapped on The Tea Party. Donald Trump was the next logical step for those same folks who are fed up with the GOPe.

Oh Lord have mercy. The GOP stopped being fiscally conservative about 25 years ago. That horse is out of the barn and long dead now.

That's an exaggeration. I do agree that the GOP lost their way in the 2000s but they were the party of fiscal responsibility during the Clinton years.

Sounds like you agree that Trump will not move the party back towards its fiscally conservative roots.
