General Presidential Campaign: Trump vs Hillary

Cruz for the open seat on SCOTUS?
I would be fine with this choice

Might make for an interesting confirmation hearing --
(A) many of them (most of them) dont like Cruz (he did call McConnell a liar on the Senate floor. LOL);
(B) on the other hand, they will be reticent to reject the new Pres' first offering

There's way too much dirt to throw at Cruz. Democrats would filibuster his nomination, and I doubt the GOP senators who hate his guts would go to a lot of trouble to force the issue. Couple this with the fact that Cruz was Trump's biggest enemy, and I don't see why Trump would give him such an appointment.

First, this is all fanciful thinking. Second, one gets to vote on allocation of the funds that you pay into. Direct democracy in action. So, not all voters vote on all referendums

Ted Cruz just showed he has no honor or integrity supporting Trump and choosing his political party over his family. Cruz has lost all of my support. Cruz better hope Trump appoints him to the Supreme Court because he is losing his senate seat after this.
Just like I said months ago. There is really no choice if you are GOP.

You are right. There is no choice. Both parties have given us the exact same candidate. Both are corrupt, valueless, lying liberal New Yorkers who would make equally terrible presidents. It is time for both parties to go. The Bernie people need to abolish the democratic party from the left. On the right, a new group of conservatives need to abolish the GOP since obviously Cruz and the tea party have failed.

If you support Trump or Hillary aka the same terrible candidate, you are part of the problem and will be part of the reason this country will not be great in the future after 4 years of failed, stupid policies.

You are failing to see the upside regarding Trump:
- Irritatiting the snot out of the PC crowd
- Sticking it to the establishment with regard to crony capitalism
- Slowing the farce that is catastrophic global warming

And that is just 3.

Why do Libs always try to minimize how bad their candidate is by saying both candidates are bad. It's like if they admit really how bad their lib candidate is, but believe since they are being truthful they think it gives them to credibility to lump the other parties candidate in with their pathetic choice. Hillary is no different in her ideology than Obama, but is way more corrupt (That's saying a lot since we know how corrupt Obama has been the last 7 1/2 years). We know how much of a failure he has been with the direction he has taken our country.

I agree with a ton of stuff Trump is saying in regards to policies that are just common sense. I don't agree with the outlandish stuff he was saying a couple of month ago but no way does that equate him to Hillary. She has no accomplishments that's worth mentioning. I could pick just one of these topics only with Trumps views and that makes him 100% better than Hillary.

1) Obama Care
2) Dealing with ISIS (doesn't take much on this one because Hillary believes we are on the right track)
3) Refugees
4) The Economy
5) Law and Order
6) Supreme Justice choices
7) Border security

There are so many more. Let's face it, between the two candidates only, One should be in the White House and the other should be in the Big House.

I am not voting for hillary and if you think that I, a cruz supporter until this afternoon, am a lib, you are just as misinformed as anyone that thinks Trump is conservative. Also, Don Willet (a trump choice) is no strict constitutionalist, nor is anyone like Willet that believes in Lochner or that the courts are empowered to make up rights that do not exist in the Constitution.

I have conservative values and I will not betray them and put party first just like a yellow dog democrat would. That is what "conservative" Trump supporters are, the republican version of yellowdog democrats.

..... and I don't see why Trump would give him such an appointment.

(a) quid pro quo (personal support + request his supporters do same, in exchange for promise of a Court nom, or at least strong consideration for a nom), and
(b) Cruz is as close to Scalia-lyte as anyone

This Friday dump by the FBI should be horrifying anyone with even a tiny brain

Is there anyone not disgusted with Hillary and her staff?
I wonder if SH'S wife who he has said will vote for Hillary because she is a woman will still support her. I would hope not
As far as the lying POS BO. Who is surprised he is caught in another lie?

Also, Don Willet (a trump choice) is no strict constitutionalist, nor is anyone like Willet that believes in Lochner or that the courts are empowered to make up rights that do not exist in the Constitution.

It's important to understand that Willet got the position he holds by being a reliable *****. He's willing to do dirty work to benefit Republican donors, so Rick Fairy was willing to appoint him. There was never anything conservative about his judicial philosophy, nor was there anything impressive about his legal or judicial credentials or experience. Hell, at the time he got on the Texas Supreme Court, my dad had tried more cases than he had. (My dad is a professional violinist and teacher, not a lawyer.)

So it's no surprise that he likes Lochner. The business community would obviously like it, and since he has the business community's balls firmly entrenched in his mouth, it stands to reason that Willet would like it.

I'm not going to bore everybody with a lengthy explanation, but to those who don't know, the Lochner Doctrine is the idea that the due process clauses in the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, despite their clear language, create a substantive right to economic liberty. That right was was used to strike down minimum wage laws and other economic regulations back in the early 20th century. That sounds nice for free enterprise, but it relies on the same rationale as Roe v. Wade and the worst liberal decisions the Court has ever rendered. In other words, you can't think Roe is intellectually wrong and like Lochner. Furthermore, it could basically be used to eliminate almost any protection you have as a consumer or an employee.

HTown77,

Are you saying this because he endorsed Trump, or endorsed Trump when there was no reason to make an endorsement? If it's the fomer, I think you may be a little hard on him.

If Hitler was running against Trump, and he told people to vote for Trump...

Hitler is not running against Trump. Hillary, while she is absolutely corrupt and should not be president either, is not as liberal as obama and cannot possibly be any worse.

Trump went after Cruz's family. Cruz made a stand that he would not endorse Trump after Trump attacked Cruz's family and integrity with lies and for the fact Trump is a corrupt liberal that will do nothing to reverse the damage Obama has done. Endorsing him now just shows that even Cruz can be bought and will fall in line with a liberal in GOP clothes like the rest of them.

Here are Cruz quotes:

“I am not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father,” Cruz said. “ That pledge was not a blanket commitment that if you go and slander my wife that I am going to come like a servile puppy dog for maligning my wife and maligning my father.”

"Trump is a narcissist at a level this country has never seen.”

"He is proud of being a serial philanderer," Cruz said.

"This man is a pathological liar. He doesn’t know the difference between truth and lies, and in a pattern that is straight out of a psychology text book, he accuses everyone of lying.”

"The man is utterly amoral."

"Donald is a bully. Bullies don't come from strength; they come from weakness."

Now Cruz endorses Trump? What a joke.

It can always get worse. I mean, it is worse. The republican party is now running a corrupt liberal for president. However, as terrible as she is, had she beaten Obama in 08, would the country be more liberal or less liberal? Would we have more or less stupid policies? She is not worse than Obama.

Look I cannot stand her. I have not even watched her talk on TV in years because I can only make it 2 min before she irritates so much I have to turn it off. That said, she is not Hitler and she is not more liberal than Obama. Trump is not a conservative and he will be bad for this country as well. People can claim Hillary is Hitler and Trump is a conservative that will make things better but they are full of ****.

The party system has failed to deliver us an effective or acceptable presidential candiate this election. All you can do is oppose both. If you support either, you are part of the problem making this country a worse place for the next 4 years. I had hope Cruz would oppose both and it is sad to see him sacrafice his principles like that because when everyone does that, you end up stuck with an unopposed corrupt Clinton government or an unopposed corrupt Trump government.

I thought this rang a bell. A bit of levity as we gird out loins for the most bizarre debate in our country's history. Get your popcorn. Get your earplugs.

Hillary is more of a pragmatist than Obama is, so she'll care less about pursuing a liberal policy agenda. However, I can think of two ways in which she's worse. First, though Obama told plenty of whoppers, she (like Bill) is a first rate bullshitter and an ethical dumpster fire. She lies like it's second nature and epitomizes sleaziness.

Second, by announcing that she'll stop all deportations of nonviolent criminals, she's threatening a complete breakdown of the rule of law on illegal immigration. I'm not an advocate of mass deportations and favor a path to legalization (not citizenship), but her approach is complete lawlessness and yes, worse than Obama's.

I would say that's an opinion. I have no doubt Cruz has the same opinion I do about Hillary. I know this is an extreme, but I don't see how it's fair to say someone has no honor by holding this opinion about an election.

I have also said that Trump's comments about his family discharged Cruz of his obligation/pledge to support the GOP nominee. But he had decided to follow through on that pledge. I don't know if I agree with him on that choice or would do the same, but I respect that he did what he said he would do. And also, Cruz from the very begining (probably because he's a constitutional lawyer) has always been a vocal "Never Hillary" guy and has never wavered from that. Again, he does what he said he would do.

Cruz isn't inviting Trump over for a crawfish boil. This is about our government. His family knows he hasn't forsaken them. That's for his family to measure. And while Trump's comments are tabloid fodder stupidity...the damage of a Hillary Supreme Court and a Clinton White House could materially be 1,000x worse for his and all other American families.

while she is absolutely corrupt and should not be president either, is not as liberal as obama and cannot possibly be any worse.

I've always believed that America is too strong for 1 bad president to ruin it in 8 years. He sure did take us in the wrong direction though. Now that Hillary is asking to be his 3rd term for a total of 12 and perhaps 16 years, I can see America devastated by 2 bad Presidents with BHO and HRC. So like Deez said, it can get worse.

This election continues to be more entertaining than almost anything out of Hollywood or the television industry.
