General Presidential Campaign: Trump vs Hillary

The only other person agreeing with you is the same one who said--
(1) The Hillary'08 Campaign had nothing to do with the start of birtherism,
(2) Anyone who thinks HRC's health is an issue is an idiot,
(3) and so on .....

I read it as I saw it and without any political agenda attached. And not that we took a poll on the issueI, but I don't particularly care who agreed with me.

Something else that came out of the latest late Friday FBI document dump

Hillary received 1000 emails from Cent Com commander David Petraeus on her private email

"A technician hired by Hillary Clinton to run the private email system she used while US secretary of state told investigators he tried to pass on colleagues' concerns that the system might not comply with records laws, FBI interview summaries show.

Bryan Pagliano, the technician Clinton hired when she joined the State Department in 2009, told federal investigators he relayed the concerns to Cheryl Mills, then Clinton's chief of staff.

Mills, whose lawyer did not respond to requests for comment, has previously testified under oath she could not recall anyone alerting her to potential problems with Clinton's email arrangement

A colleague also warned Pagliano "he wouldn't be surprised" if classified information was being sent through Clinton's unsecure system, Pagliano told the FBI.

The newly released interview summaries from the FBI investigation show government employees undercutting other aspects of the public accounts given by Clinton and senior State officials.

A State Department employee, whose name was redacted, told investigators they believed senior department officials interfered with the screening of Clinton's emails for public release last year in a way that helped Clinton.

The employee, who worked on the screening process, said there was pressure to obscure the fact they were finding classified information in the messages. John Kirby, a State Department spokesman, said in a statement the department "strongly disputes" the claim of interference. Clinton repeatedly said last year she never sent or received classified information, but now says she did not do so knowingly since the release of the FBI findings....."

Have you noticed that Trump's "unfavorability" overall has been decreasing generally over time? It is somewhat slight, but nonetheless a trend.

At the same time, HRC's unfavorables continue to increase. For example, this latest Bloomberg poll has HRC's advantage versus Trump among voters aged 35 and under at just 10% (but it was 29% in August). http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-09-26/national-poll

The exact same thing happened over the course of the Democratic primary. The more the public sees of Hillary, the more they dislike her. This partially explains why she has been in hiding for so long (but for the fundraisers of course).

In these three debates, Trump may not have to do much more than stand there. Let Hillary speak more since it always works to her eventual disadvantage.

Is this good or bad for Trump?

It's worth some thought -- how do Americans look at where the combination of these Presidents have left the country. Better or worse (Reagan excepted, of course)

Wonder if she will go with the anti-seizure glasses for the debate
Might be risky not to

Here's what we know about her health:

Blood clot in head that caused her to collapse and hit her head
Prism glasses
Blue tinted glasses (to prevent seizures)
Needs assistance to walk up a half flight of stairs
Cold chai seizure
Lazy eye
Excessive cough, supposedly cause by allergies
Thrown into a van like a side of beef which was supposedly pneumonia dehydration
She claims to not remember having a briefing on handling classified material (probably just a lie)
Handler guy with laser points the way for Hillary
Hillary assures us she's healthy

TRUMP: Condolences to my opponent, who passed away hours ago

CLINTON: [glares impatiently at Lester Holt]

HOLT: Oh, I’m not a fact-checker

As shaky as Hillary is, she probably needs handrails on that soap box.

Her side is putting poor Lester Holt's balls in a vice to call out Trump's "lies". Pretty ironic from a woman who has made a career out of lying, don't you think?

Since her 9/11 collapse, Hillary has lost her lead in NV, IA, NC, OH, NV and FL

Iowa/Loras Poll has had a 14-point shift toward Trump since the last Loras Poll , which was ~3 months ago

That wouldn't be a problem for those stationed in Virginia. However, for it to make a difference, somebody would have to make it a coordinated effort and register large numbers of them. I'm not sure what Trump's ground game looks like in Virginia, but I have a hard time believing it's good enough to coordinate something like that.
I agree. If Trump had a ground game here, he could take Virginia easily. He'd take it easily because the fundamentals of apathetic democratic voters (Virginia democrats aren't blue kool aid liberals)*, and because the rural conservative voters have had enough of their representation eaten away by johnny come lately carpetbagging liberals in the NoVa suburbs that have no idea what to do at a crab picking - they actually see a chance to turn the state back red.

But Trump doesn't have a real ground game here...yet. I emphasize yet. It's really tightened up in Virginia and the GOP is throwing a lot more resources in the Commonwealth. Even if they froze any resources in Virginia, given the trends and Trump's surging momentum I still think it would be a toss up. With Kaine on the ballot, she should be up by 15% in Virginia - she's not. If he could win Virginia...holy crap.

I think a "ground game" is more important to marginally appealing candidates (e.g. Clinton) versus disruptive/transformative candidates like Trump. Brexit is a good example. Military voters in an election like this do not need to be told by a pimply faced college freshman young republican or democrat to vote or register. A Marine Texan that's made up her mind about who she'll vote for knows how to make her vote count.

*Non-transplant Virginia democrats as opposed to transplanted NoVa government/political professionals

I think it's amazing that the race is this close considering Trump is up against the Dem establishment, the GOP establishment (never Trumpers), 95% of the Media, and Hillary is out spending him 8 or 9 to 1 in TV ads. Also whatever the polls show you can add 3 to 4 points to Trump to get a more accurate number. Yes, she is that bad of a candidate. The worst in History and there is nobody close to second. Even the Community Organizer wasn't this bad when running.

Hillary/Kaine thought they had Virginia wrapped up, so they cut staff there. Oops
--------------------------

"...... Thanks to two polls, Trump partisans are no longer glum about Virginia, a state that President Obama won twice and Hillary Clinton led by 16 percentage points over Trump in a Roanoke College poll last month.

Indeed, Trump was doing so poorly following the Republican convention in July that the Clinton campaign cut back on its effort in Virginia. This made sense once Virginia senator Tim Kaine was tapped as Clinton's vice presidential running mate. Many Republican strategists agreed a Clinton victory was baked in the cake.

No more. Oddly enough, it was a poll by UMW, directed by Farns-worth and released on September 15, that roused Trump backers. It showed him trailing Hillary by three points, 40-37 percent. And in Roanoke College's new poll, Clinton lost nine points and now leads Trump 44 to 37 percent.

Even before the encouraging polls, the Trump campaign, the Republican National Committee, and the Virginia GOP had quietly begun building a ground game in Virginia with nearly 350 paid staffers and 30 offices. "The last three weeks have been crazy in terms of investment," says Republican state chairman John Whitbeck. "We've given Donald Trump the greatest ground game possible. ......."

I think the ground game is more important to Democrats, as opposed to marginally appealing candidates. (Obama was an appealing candidate but still relied heavily on a strong ground game.) The reason why is that a big part of the Democratic constituency is people who aren't particularly organized or motivated - bums, pot-smoking college students, etc. They need to be told and reminded to register and to actually show up. Furthermore, they often need transportation to the polls. Not many Republican voters need that. However, the GOP can't get by on no ground game in a swing state like Virginia.

Nevertheless, a Trump victory in Virginia wouldn't signal a landslide that would warrant a "holy crap." It would just give him a little more margin for error in winning a close race.
