General Presidential Campaign: Trump vs Hillary

Lastly, an argument can also be made that fatshaming has an altruistic motive. Being overweight brings serious health issues with it -- from diabetes to blood pressure to heart issues. This is on top of skin issues, something crucial to professional actresses. Seen thusly, fatshaming is an encouragement to get yourself healthy. If you do that, it helps keep all of our health insurance costs down. Like it or not, Obamacare gave us all a small stake in her weight.

It all depends on how it's done, but I agree. We don't have to insult or ridicule people, but I think the push to normalize and legitimize obesity is a bad thing. The issue shouldn't be framed in terms of unattractiveness and a lack of sex appeal, because that's needlessly rude and diverts attention from the real issue, which is individual and public health. (Besides, it's not always accurate. Some chicks and even some dudes actually dig the chubby look.)

I think most people sorta brush off the obesity issue as insignificant, but if you hang out in the Europe, the contrast is pretty alarming. Colossal portions, tons of fast food, and driving a car everywhere you go isn't a healthy lifestyle, and we shouldn't celebrate it or ridicule those who speak out against it.

".... Americans’ trust and confidence in the mass media ‘to report the news fully, accurately and fairly’ has dropped to its lowest level in Gallup polling history, with 32 percent saying they have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media. This is down eight percentage points from last year,” writes Art Swift, an analyst for the Gallup poll, which first asked the nation to weigh in on the press in 1972.

“Over the history of the entire trend, Americans’ trust and confidence hit its highest point in 1976, at 72 percent, in the wake of widely lauded examples of investigative journalism regarding Vietnam and the Watergate scandal,” Mr. Swift said.

The sentiment has fallen slowly and steadily, and has consistently been below a majority level since 2007....."

Wow, Hillary is really self-destructing while Trump seems to finally controlling his off-message ranting. The race has tightened and can go either way.

Not sure if Trump has controlled his message but rather Hillary's missteps are so egregious that nobody is talking about his own statements. The HRC campaign (as evidenced by CNN) is trying to change the message.

It's not just Europe but most of the world outside of the US. Americans have become some of the fattest people on the planet. I shake my head when I hear folks try to blame the US health care system for the lower life expectancy in America. As if, socialized medicine will magically make Americans eat better, exercise more, and not be fatter than the rest of the world. But the same folks that make this ridiculous connection will be the first ones to be offended if you condemn the habits that lead to obesity.

Powell was onto Hillary's Heath back in 2015

Who the heck uses the term "dicking"? Is that a baby boomer term?

Dont we all agree Powell is a Dem now? If so, there's your answer

I would be curious to learn how W describes Bill Clinton's horndog proclivities when speaking privately to his closest friends. Hard to see W saying "dicking bimbos." But he must say something about it at some point (as every other living human above 20 has at some point).

By the way, he has a (mostly art) book coming out --

FLORIDA President:

Clinton/Kaine (D) 46%
Trump/Pence (R) 50%
(CNN/ORC Poll, LV, 9/7-12)
At same time, Rubio up 11 points in Senate race there

The 4-way FLORIDA:
Trump- 47
Clinton- 44
Johnson- 6
Stein- 1

By the way, Trump only has 30 Florida campaign employees. Clinton has 500!

OHIO President:

Clinton/Kaine (D) 46%
Trump/Pence (R) 50%
(CNN/ORC Poll, LV, 9/7-12)
At same time, Portman up 21 points in Senate race there

The 4-way OHIO:
Trump 46,
Clinton- 41
Johnson- 8

Here are all the most recent OHIO polls -- I dont think any of them have been taken solely since HRC's 9/11 collapse

Can we talk about this? What the heck is going on here?

Is this why she was wearing those blue sunglasses on Sunday when no one else was wearing sunglasses?

Blue tinted lenses have been used to treat seizures. These are some links from way before the election cycle. This blue sunglasses thing could be just a coincidence...right?

Treating seizure disorders with tinted lenses
Does anyone have any experience with using tinted lenses to help with seizure disorders?
Mom called yesterday with a 12 year old daughter who recently suffered for the first time a grand mal seizure. A neurologist administered an EEG and found activity with strobe light that went away when royal blue lenses were held in front of her eyes.
I recall an optician from across the pond a year or so ago talking about how this field is just now expanding for autism. Anyone hear further news especially regarding seizures? Told mom I'd ask the optiboard community:)

I'm considering advising she find some OTC blue sunglasses and see how much she'll wear them before investing in ophthalmic eyeglasses. Obviously she needs no Rx

From 1992
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1592030
Usefulness of blue sunglasses in photosensitive epilepsy.
Abstract
The suppressive effect of sunglasses upon photoparoxysmal responses (PPRs) elicited by 15-Hz flicker stimuli with a low luminance of nearly 10 nits was studied in eight patients with photosensitive epilepsy. Using three commercially available sunglasses of neutral density (ND), blue, and brown, the influence upon generalized PPRs elicited by a flickering dot pattern (FDP) and red flicker (RF) stimuli was separately examined in six patients; the luminance of the visual stimuli decreased from roughly one-fifth (ND and brown sunglasses) to one-tenth (blue sunglasses). With FDP stimulation, four of the six patients wearing each of the three sunglasses had no provocation of PPRs, whereas two of the six patients had provocation of generalized PPRs with all of the sunglasses. With RF stimulation, two of the six patients wearing ND sunglasses had provocation of generalized PPRs; three of the six patients wearing brown sunglasses had similar provocation; in contrast, none of the six patients showed provocation of PPRs while wearing blue sunglasses. These results suggest that the suppressive effect of the three sunglasses on FDP stimulation is mainly due to a luminance diminution, whereas that of blue sunglasses on RF stimulation is produced by an inhibitory effect of short wavelengths and possibly by a luminance diminution. Thus, blue sunglasses are thought to be useful in the treatment of patients with photosensitive epilepsy.

Thanks, but I think I'll pass on the cold chai.

It's not socialized medicine. It's lifestyle. You can go into a German restaurant and see people eating a schnitzel covered in a cream sauce, double-fried french fries, drinking beer, and eating an apple strudel with a glob of ice cream for dessert. However, they don't eat that way every day. They normally eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, and though they might eat some fatty meats and drink beer regularly, the portions are much smaller, and they don't often binge drink. Furthermore, they don't eat fast food the way Americans do. Fast food might be a slice of pizza (with a MUCH thinner crust than what you'd see in the US) or a bratwurst (usually leaner than a hot dog) in a fresh roll. Fries are rarely part of the equation.

Physical activity is also a big difference. They only drive if they have to. Otherwise, they walk and/or take public transportation. Furthermore, they enjoy the outdoors. They go hiking in the hills and mountains all the time. It's not just a hobby for nature dorks. Large numbers of regular people do it. They also do their own landscaping and gardening, even if they could easily afford to pay somebody. I've got 60 year old neighbors who crawl around on the ground several times per week pulling weeds. Interestingly, health clubs aren't as big of a thing here. I don't see many people lifting weights and working out in gyms. They just incorporate light and sometimes moderate physical activity into their normal, everyday lives. Makes a big difference.

Alot of people knew/know about this but have lied about it (or otherwise remained silent).

The only thing we can ever be certain about with these people is that they always lie.
In those rare instances when they have been forced to make some type of subsequent admission or concession, they never come clean with the full truth. Never

So, if consistent with pattern, then they have still not told the full truth with this allergies/dehydration/overheating/pneumonia story.

Good lord, Hillary's doctor-letter goes full Clintonesque --

-- "It depends what 'healthy' means."

-- "She has not developed new medical conditions this year"

It was always thus to be so, you just couldn't see it.

What I learned from that post is that while America may have an excessive number of fat people, Europe is in much worse shape as it has an excessive number of nature dorks.
