For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

Just don’t know how you fire a coach with winning seasons each of four years, four bowl victories, a pretty good roster of returning players, etc....

To me the bottom line is we were better/more talented than any team we stepped on the field against this year with a senior QB and experience at most every position and yet we still lost 3 games. And could have lost a couple more. There is no excuse for that. This was the year to prove we had what it takes to win the Big 12. Not just compete, but win the Big 12 and we failed miserably. I see no rational reason to keep TH (other than the cost of a buyout) but we can afford as much as any school in America can so there's no reason not to give TH his walking papers.

If we are all upbeat and optimistic about last night's game and the K State game before that, then we should be asking where that kind of performance has been all season. This is all too familiar to the beatdown we gave Utah to end last year.

Exactly. There is no reason the TCU game should have been anywhere close. There is no reason Ingram should’ve played. There is no reason for Sam to take sacks when nothing is there (should’ve thrown the ball away). The Iowa State game should’ve been won with the right calls in the 4th quarter (No long sideline pass, FG instead of going, etc).

This is the same thing that killed us last season against OU. Sam and our receivers should’ve lit up their midget DBs all day.

For some reason, Tom refuses to dominate with the skill of our players over the weaknesses of theirs.

When Alabama has that kind of advantage , they win every damn game.

Herman is very very good in bowls, but not that good in the regular season. If he could just figure out why.... this cycle could be avoided.

Because the teams we play in bowls are either garbage (Mizzou, Colorado) or playing in what they perceive to be a "lesser" bowl with many of their best players opting out beforehand (UGA, Utah).

We shouldn't need an entire season's resume to see that teams like Tech and TCU were garbage this year, and beat them accordingly in months like September or October instead of waiting around for all of the coaching genius to come up with a "bowl game style" plan to go against them in the regular season.

"Wow Tom! What an impressive victory over CU. I'm just afraid that now, UT will keep you on for next year and I'll have to play against a Casey Thompson-led team coached by you. I don't think we'll stand a chance."

C'mon now Coach... You're going to get his hopes up.

Ok, I'll play...Tom Herman is the only the 2nd coach in the history of UT football to coach at a minimum of 4 seasons and not win a Conference Championship.... And that coach EJ Stewart only lost 9 games in 4 years... Also, with any amount of tenure, he's 1 of 4 that never won a conf championship. Stats are for losers....

He's a douche, the team knows he's a douche (not sure if I've ever seen 2 walk-ons with the Gatorade bath with zero leaders around him to celebrate), most of the high school coaches knows he's a douche evident by in state recruiting, and now we get to listen to the same BS from 3-4 years ago about how a freshman center snaps to a freshman QB and throws to a sophomore WR, etc. At least we will go undefeated in great practices each week...

And don't get me started about running down the end zone up 30 and painfully trying to look cool learning a handshake. Do we have reality show writers on staff now that come up with this crap? D-O-U-C-H-E...

I don't know, TH and #2 have spent some bonding time perfecting an extended handshake/high five whatever thing that they displayed late in the game last night.

Tom Herman does less with more. Period. End of story.

I cant help but get excited about the future watching our two deep get a win last night and then I remember that TH will be the head coach and they are as good now as they will ever be because 1) opposing teams do not know them and when they adjust we won’t. And 2) we do not develop players so when they hit a wall they won’t get better. At some point next season the offense will stop producing and well all be wondering what happened to Casey and Bijan and Hudson card and Whoever backs up Bijan will be the most popular players on the team. Until those players hit a wall.

It doesn’t matter who suits up we are throughly mediocre at every aspect of the game. The few things we do well we don’t even do with any consistency. We don’t develop players and we don’t adapt.

Yep. Rinse. Repeat.

I have to say all the cryptic tweets from “insiders” is getting tiresome. I wish we could fast forward to the end of the CFP if there is any truth there or just have CDC man up and say we are stuck with this guy next year too.

I’m not an insider and I’m too dense to read between the lines in all the cryptography. Are we seriously looking at another year of TH?

Imagine if Texas played KU (and won) and also won against TCU (no goal line fumble). Assuming we were out of the CCG due to losses to OU and ISU, we would finish 9-2. Still worth firing TH? I say yes due to 2021-2022 recruiting implosion and how he handled the Eyes.

**Sourpuss comment alert**

Yep. I don't care if he wins the NC. Hang on, let me pull myself up off the ground from laughing at that thought. He needs to go.

Can't believe how many here are supposedly such big Longhorn fans but don't care what he and the players have done to Longhorn traditions.

While I can understand the frustration, there are almost certainly uncontrollable factors that are responsible for the delay.

Hope you are right. TH lost me with inconsistency and then the Eyes. The amount of kids opting out etc. Plus the comment from Sam last night about not letting off the gas is telling too.

Barely beat a bad Tech team, a mediocre WV team, and bad Baylor team. Combined 20 pts. Barely a margin of victory to be proud of. Two OT wins and 3 OT games. Not what should be expected with the talent we have and a senior QB. Not in year 4.

No OOC this year. That would have certainly added the fourth loss. Wait, was Texas playing Maryland? Hmmm. I still doubt they would have beaten LSU in BR, no matter how craptastic they were this year.
Amazing that 2 people so far must believe Texas would have beaten LSU this year in BR.

Ya know, I get it that DKR went 8-7 in bowl games because he looked at them as a "reward" for the players. But now, it's important to get to the bowl for the extra practice it gives the players while jump-starting into the spring. Woulda-coulda-shoulda, didn't want to be there, didn't feel like playing etc etc. The goal of playing the game is to win the damn game. There's no requirement for the winner of the game to apologize to the loser for all of the excuses that may surround the game. Like any time you lose to TCU, don't cry about them messing it up for your title hopes, you went in there unprepared and got beat. Plain and simple. So, Texas BEAT Mizzou/Georgia/Utah/Colorado, that's it. Anyone making excuses for those losses at those schools/against Texas, suck it, Texas won those games. It wasn't a forfeit/given to anybody/etc. That Oklahoma mouthpiece RJ Young trashes Texas for taking 14 games to win 10 back in 2018, but in the same paragraph is already discussing how OU beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl and now they're playing Florida in the Cotton Bowl and Bama/Saban said they didn't want to be there and people are already saying Florida doesn't want to be there. Players opting out/etc. Guess what? OU stomps a mudhole on Florida, Florida got beat, that's it.

Zuck, you wrote quite a mouthful.

The bowl equation back in the DKR era was different. First, no one opted out. They wouldn’t dare. Second, I’ll bet that the competition he faced was normally quite a bit stiffer than teams the caliber of (at the time) MO, UT or CO. (I’ll leave out GA.)

We live in a different time. There’s no loyalty. A growing number of selfish players don’t care about the team, only the money they might make at the next level.

While I tend to buy into the motivational argument, in the case of FL vs. OU, not so much. Florida became a long shot after losing to TAM, and an impossibility after the LSU game. So I see the upcoming game as a legitimate and fairly even match with no excuses for the loser if it’s Florida.

Pretty sure CDC already said that a month ago...
