Dumb Political Correctness

If the Smollett story had been real or even not flagrantly false, it would be like the OJ Simpson trial. It would be the defining story of the year.

That's hilarious. They complain about hearing a quoted racial slur and then demand something that perpetuates a racial stereotype. They should have demanded a sushi place.

It was OU. It would have been even more Soonerish if they would have demanded that the Biology school be allowed to run a watermelon patch.

Matt Walsh doesn't understand Libertarianism very well. The Right or Conservative Libertarians are against this kind of thing and would find ways of preventing them, maybe not using government.

It is Left Libertarians or Libertines who accept this stuff and will not discuss any way to prevent it from happening.

I submitted it for the embed video, not Walsh.
But I say he is correct, libertarians (whichever way they skew) will not call this stuff out and that silence does society harm.

Yeah. The video is deplorable regardless of the commentary.

But you are wrong on your 2nd statement. Right Libertarians call out immoral behavior all the time. They just don't get a public forum like many of the other voices. Look at all the Libertarians that comment on Walsh's tweet.

This has to be fake, right?
Everyone knows Chicago has the strictest gun control in the land.
They outlawed guns, can't nobody have em.

To me, the real blame on this stuff falls on men.
Look at all the men in that video just watching that nonsense.
This is not how its supposed to be. Men are supposed to lead and protect. Not a single one of the men in that pic is worthy of the country they inherited.
And, some day, barbarians are going take it from them.

Re: Everybody Gets A Trophy

This may be a stretch but it's interesting to hear a perspective and impute it into other situations.

https://www.si.com/college/2020/02/27/uconn-womens-basketball-geno-auriemma

UConn women's basketball has arguable been the greatest all-time dynasty in any sport. This year they've suffered at least three double-digit losses to other top women's teams including the evil empire in Waco.

Rebecca Lobo, a UConn grad and star mentions that you can't have it both ways to the people hand-wringing over UConn's lack of dominance. She said if you say it's bad for women's basketball to have such a dominant team then you can't say it's bad because you don't.

She then said, "You have to appreciate what the game is turning into, what it’s become and how it’s grown,” Lobo says.

So I wonder if what has been proven is this; the greatness of UConn created the current landscape. They pulled the rest of the women's teams up BECAUSE they WON all the trophies fair and square.

Honestly, I don't know the answer. The root of the problem is that this child's parents are massively depraved. We can take the child away from the parents. We do that with parents that abuse or abandon their children, but that certainly isn't the libertarian answer. Furthermore, if you give the state that kind of power, we know what leftist state courts will do to the families of conservative or religious parents. On the other hand, I don't see any other way to directly help that child.

Libertarian answers are state-less. There are several things you COULD do in a world with more healthy cultural institutions. But anything imposes power on parents with the state or some other organization. In a healthy society, the men protect the girl in the moment, like JF mentions. One of them picks up the girl and takes her out of the room and doesn't give a **** what anybody else thinks. But we have crushed manhood. We are conditioned to let things go unless we get into a disagreement.

Extended families could intervene. In another age a Church would have a say.

But now we have a society where there are individuals and the state. So now all we can think of is state solutions.

So CNN did attempt to have the Sandman case dismissed. Their argument was somewhat unique -- they said calling somebody a ‘racist’ is not a provable fact and therefore does not rise to the level of libel. CNN actually tried to say that there can never be a factual basis for calling somebody a racist.
Courts treat statements characterizing people as “racist” as non-actionable opinion because they cannot be proved true or false. … Sandmann cannot as a matter of law base a defamation claim on this statement as it offers an expression of opinion so subjective as to be unprovable.
No doubt probably every single one of you who read that thought the same thing -- CNN calls President Trump (and others) racist as a statement of fact all the time. So for them to go into court and claim that it’s not a provable fact, that such a claim cannot be factual, is directly opposite from what they publicly state every day. Anyway, the Court rejected it.
