Not a big surprise. Kant was from the Prussian city of Königsberg. That was part of the German Reich in 1941, and it would have been a pretty impressive city. However, it got decimated by the Red Army and annexed into the Soviet Union and renamed Kaliningrad. Not surprised that it would look shabby today. When the Russians destroyed German cities, they usually didn't rebuild them into anything impressive.

It’s ironic how some (I repeat some) people who rail against political correctness change their tune when their particular ox is gored. If their particular ox is gored, they turn into Stalinist P.C. enforcers to avenge the offense to their pet issue, often using the same knee jerk insults the usual PC crowd uses.

With thousands of migrants amassing at Europe’s outer borders, German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s left-wing coalition partner has called for a “Pact for Humanity” to bringing these asylum seekers directly into the country. Germany’s ruling Social Democratic Party wants to take in “unaccompanied minors” trying to enter into Greece from Turkey, German media reports said.


The demand came from the states governed by Social Democrats, but such calls have received widespread media support. German cities, including Cologne, have stepped up to receive more migrants. "

I wonder how many of these "unaccompanied minors" have beards.

It's sad, because there's a right way to do this, but nobody wants to do it.

First, I would reject all adult men or anything that's close to being an adult man. I'd admit women, young children (under 15), the elderly, and physically disabled. If you're a 25 year old man who has lost his legs, I don't mind taking care of you.

Second, I would put them in refugee camps while their asylum claims are adjudicated. They'd be kept safe and provided decent food, shelter, etc. Only after asylum is granted would I let them leave.

Third, even after they leave, I wouldn't just let them do whatever. That's not good for the public or for them. I'd assign them a case worker who would put them in German language classes, help them find work, and put them in a civics class where they're taught to like Germany, German people, and Western culture - yep, basically propaganda. This idea of refugees deciding to go full Ilhan Omar and hate the country that literally saves theirs asses is BS. If they're caught doing that, they should be expelled and sent home.
 
I guess Angela hasn't been groped yet, so she's gonna keep importing them until she is. Lookout Germany, this may take a while!

She signed a follow-up proclamation on March 16, 2020, further emphasizing her emergency powers to “suspend or limit the sale, dispensing, or transportation, of alcoholic beverages.”

can she legally ban firearms?
 
I don’t get the motives behind those bans. Or I don’t get how it’s tied to the dangers of the virus.
 
She can probably survive banning guns in NO. If she restricts alcohol sales beyond shutting down bars, she will have to leave town.

It's one of the classic con games of politics, up there "with take a bunch of money away quietly and then give less of it back really loudly".

You add a ton of temporary emergency-only measures to be rescinded after the emergency passes, but then after it's over, you take away merely most of them.

The lack of critical thinking there is astounding. They are saying it's worse for men than for women, but then claiming that actually makes it worse for women because women don't have it as bad as men do.
