Maybe not, if playing by your standards.
I didn't ask for your smart-*** remark that caused this to get started, did I?
I'm entitled to my opinion and if you don't like it too bad.

Huh? Without that play it's 14-14 instead of 14-21, so we obviously don't go for it on 4th and goal from the 8, we kick a FG for the 17-14 lead.so we lose by 7 instead of 14...
I don't know about that. Penix was the most accurate QB I think I'd ever seen when we played him. Against Michigan? He missed guys that were wide open. If he had played like that we would have won that game.this is 2 years in a row we lose in the final 4 due to terrible play calling and poor execution
2 years in a row where Blue had a great game in the CFP semifinals.this is 2 years in a row we lose in the final 4 due to terrible play calling and poor execution
Right tackle got whipped all night long. Take a look at the scoop and score on 4th down.Ewers can't handle pressure. How many sacks did he have in this game that were his fault?
Making it a mental insult makes no sense to me. His accuracy, his soft lobs, or his pocket presence, sure. But not his leadership or ability to read the defense.Quinn couldn't solve 2+2, so how the hell are you going to develop that?
Yep. Sawyer completely beat Williams on the fumble/TD.The game really turned on the holding on Simmons not called on third down. Would have been third and 18 or so if called and back them up to around their 25. Texas had momentum and would have gotten good field position with a tie game. Still you cannot have first and goal at the 2 and not score and you certainly can’t have a play call that pitches the ball backwards six yards against a fast defense. We will see next year if Ewers not being a real running threat negatively influenced Sarks play calling. One other thought, Williams clearly was not anywhere near 100%. Goosby should have been in there.
No that changes the entire course of the game. If the second half plays out like it did ( can’t really assume that) the osu td tied it and we probably kick a fg to go up 17-14.so we lose by 7 instead of 14...
Pete gave away the middle pass all night long. The defense kept us in it with the opportunity to tie it up and have the chance to win.Huh? Without that play it's 14-14 instead of 14-21, so we obviously don't go for it on 4th and goal from the 8, we kick a FG for the 17-14 lead.
Overall though, can't blame the defense or Pete. Offense was a non-factor for the majority of the game. Way too much talent to put up 14, 15, and 16 in regulation the only times we played top level opponents.
I dont like to whine about the officiating. But that 3rd and long on OSU's drive for their third TD with the throw to Gatlin, or whatever his name is was the back breaker. Because that was an obvious hold against Simmons. To me, that was a huge turning point. I think OSU holds on every play, like OU, knowing it won't get called on every play. But that was huge, IMO. But we still had a chance. I credit the kids, and especially Ewers for leading us back down the field. I know a lot of guys on here don't like him and I don't think he's perfect. But I admire him.1st and goal from the one and we end up giving up a touchdown the other way. Why did he not bring Arch in to go up the middle?
20 seconds left in the half we decide to blitz and they saw it coming, throw a screen and it goes for a 75 yard TD.
That's your ball game. Two plays.
But Quinn missing that 3rd down throw for a first down really turned it.
AgreeI think Coach spent way too much time trying not to hurt feeling and stroking egos. 1st and goal on the 1 yard line twice and our BEST RUNNING QB is on the sidelines??? Makes no sense. I feel so bad for this team, especially the seniors. I hope the way we finish doesn't affect any of our return talent.

Constantly is an inaccurate statement. I'm sick of guys ripping on Ewers. The dude isn't perfect but he's got brass. He wants to win. And his teammates love him. That means more to me than a bunch of Monday morning QBs (yes, I'm one, too).Oh, I know and that happens a lot in football. QBs can sometimes get out of it but with Ewers lack of mobility and lack of pocket presence a sack/turnover happens constantly.
I agree. Washington just played better and was a bad matchup. Our secondary was weak in coverage and they were the ideal team to exploit that.I don't know about that. Penix was the most accurate QB I think I'd ever seen when we played him.
What is that???Play selection. Xxx
Arch is a dual threat and will play great. But he'd pretty much have to be junior year Vince Young to get a favorable rating from a majority of Texas fans.Next year will be unstoppable. Arch is a real QB
He did have Reggie bush on the sideline back in the day on a crucial 4th down. Granted Lindell white was on a roll, but better shot was watching form outside the lines.I think Coach spent way too much time trying not to hurt feeling and stroking egos. 1st and goal on the 1 yard line twice and our BEST RUNNING QB is on the sidelines???
