Coronavirus

@Garmel and @Sangre Naranjada ,

Good thing you guys don't live in Belgium. If you did, I would tell you to keep your orgies outside.

I wouldn't hit that. *shudder*

Pappa Rollos Pizza

Probably the best pizza (or even best Italian - pronounced EYE-talian) in Waco. However, that's a little like having the best gas station sushi in Oklahoma.

It's "Waco good." In other words, I wouldn't be able to find pizza that bad over here even if I wanted to.

I can't believe this person has so much power.

People wonder why California is and has been broke for decades; yet they return to the poles and elect horrible wannabes.

She is my poster child for the amendments I want and told Ted Cruz I wanted before he was elected:

1) No one can hold any public office until they have worked in the private sector for at least five years. The number of years would increase with the importance of the office. NO MORE CAREER POLITICIANS!

2) Term limitations House 3 terms; Senate 2 terms. You can move up the ladder but not up and down. You serve your terms then go get a real job

3) Zero benefits for elected officials other than a moderate travel allowance for to and from home. DC ain’t now and never will be your “home”

Finally, a voice of reason amongst all the BS. The other day my wife and I were walking into the HEB in Lakeway behind an older lady toting several reuseable grocery bags. I told my wife, "If we were really serious about stopping the spread of CV, an HEB employee would confiscate those bags at the door and throw them in the trash." Too bad this is in New Hampshire and not here. I hope Gov. Abbott hears about this and follows suit:

Plastic bag bans dangerous during COVID-19 pandemic

“For that reason, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu issued an emergency order over the weekend prohibiting reusable shopping bags and requiring that stores use disposable plastic or paper bags instead.”

Help me understand. If I am infected with Cv and go to the grocery, you are saying I have more chance of passing it along if I use my own reusable grocery bags? I'm not following that logic.

but you're not in Waco.

Why would you travel in Waco ... that was the question.

I recognize we're having fun with it ... but don't digress too far! :P

It's still in Texas ... The Lone Star State. The land of milk and honey with a fantabulous people, culture ... and independence (or we used to anyway)

Germany is a great place to visit, and I shall again soon ... but I can't conceive of the circumstances which would give me cause to consider being an EX PAT there.

Hope it's working for you ... but you're missing-out on a lot in your Texas absence.

HIC,

If you are infected, go to the store wearing a t-shirt with a photo of O'bama or Hillary. Hug everyone that tries to talk to you or smiles at you.

It's not just CV, all kind of nasty stuff gets into those bags from the food you buy and put in them, especially raw meats. Single use plastic bags were developed *specifically* to promote good hygiene.

More to your question, if you have CV, a cold, the flu, etc, that can easily be in/on the bag when you bring it into the store and now the checkout clerk is gonna handle it when they load your items in there for you.

I didn't travel to Waco. I went to law school in Waco. I lived in that dump for 2 and 1/2 years. I tolerated the crappy Mexican food, the dead downtown, the crime, the ghetto, and the tap water that literally smelled like *** long enough. When On the Border is the best Mexican food in town (and it really was), that's pathetic. The beer sucked too. The HEB by Baylor had a bigger selection of malt liquors than beer. They had a huge selection of "40s" and nothing but cheap redneck beer.

I lived in Texas for 27 years. I love it. I love it's people and everything it stands for. However, I got sick of the Austin traffic and the oppressive heat. Do I miss some things? Yes. I miss the Mexican food, and even more, I miss the barbecue. However, I love living in a beautiful country with great food, beer, wine, cooler weather, and free time. And for about $500, I can fly to Texas anytime I want.

But despite everything I like about Germany, I'm moving to the UK in June, so nowhere is perfect.

How would you know if you had it?

That is the insidious thing about this virus: most people don't suffer much, and show only mild symptoms, as well as being asymptomatic for long periods. It is during this time frame that you are likely to spread it to others, simply because you don't know you have it yourself.

EDIT to add: The other insidious thing about this virus is that for those who are in high risk groups, it is a very serious infection, and often fatal.

They should stay home.

If I have not exhibited symptoms and I go the store but I am infected, I will pass it along easier than the virus that may be on my reusable bags. What am I missing here?

I just am not seeing or being convinced how using their bags vs. my own would reduce the spread of this. Sounds like a politician has friends in the plastic bag business.

The best I can determine, we have had 8 deaths to date in Texas from Coronavirus. In greater Austin, there have been over 20 traffic fatalities in 2020 to date.

You guys are killing me. If I am infected, that is how I would pass it along is through the grocery bags? I will pass it along to others even if I leave the damn bags at home. I agree with y'all on 99% of things in here, but what the hell are y'all talking about here? Jesus H. Christ, my gawdamned grocery bags would be the problem? More ******* governmental overreach here.

Looks like we are back to not seeing the resident liberals with these actions. I would expect Barry or Longest to be here defending these actions. How anyone votes Democrat is amazing. They hate America.

At the risk of the Posting Guidelines, they are....well, never mind. You know.
