Coronavirus

I was born during the Eisenhower administration. My health is pretty good except allergies and hayfever that cause me to cough and sneeze more than average. Mostly I'm cautious because I don't want to be a vector to family, friends and colleagues.

You are in the age category that needs to take this as serious as possible, especially for your family. Though I would guess that you are probably strong enough to get it and live, you are also likely going to take some time to heal and might need medical services.

For my parents I am basically making sure they stay in doors at all time with no visitors. I will bring them what they need. I've set them up with meals on wheels for now and some delivery services like Uber Eats Etc.

My daughter has made them masks using cloth baby diapers and the filters out of a Hepa-filter from a new AC filter. The filter will filter virus level particles and the mask can be washed when they are not in use. I also made for them some hand sanitizer and lots of bleach cleaning supplies. They are as protected and comfortable as I can make them.

Frontier, all Airbus fleet

I think I am banned from Frontier. I had a one on one with your CEO a few years back during which I told him he needed to cancel and sever ties with his advertising firm, and I defied him to bring the head of his marketing department to lunch. Marketing guy is a galactic dumbass.

If not, I'm allergic to any Airbus, even if they are built in Mobile.

I'm concerned about the future of all the airlines, but thanks for the negative comments about our planes and CEO. Maybe you were joking...

So an update on the German government. Apparently if you're caught breaking the rules, you can get hit with an up to €25,000 fine or get thrown in the slammer.

"Because of the risk of the rapid spread of the virus, and the need to protect the most vulnerable members of the community, this Order requires all individuals anywhere in Dallas County to shelter in place – that is, stay at home – except for certain essential activities and work to provide essential business and government services or perform essential public infrastructure construction, including housing.”

I notice they never really specify what "essential activities" means. If I go to HEB for beer and sweet tea and some milk, does that count? Could it be they leave it ambiguous so that the order really doesn't mean anything, but they get to sound like they care more than all those other counties who have not done this? Nah, that would be cynical of me.

There are 16 sectors of the “critical infrastructure” that are immune from the rule. You can go to the grocery store.

Here, car dealerships are open. Essential for people to get to work, so the service departments are open. Oh, they will sell you a car too. If anyone thinks this is all serious and not political is a mental midget.

I was speaking with a friend in a 12 step program and mentioned that "package stores" are considered essential services in Denton County. She told me that at certain levels of alcoholism, unattended withdrawal symptoms can be fatal.

Walking in front of a moving bus can be fatal too.

Hold on...not trying to get into the is alcoholism a disease debate.

I haven't researched. When people seem credible I tend to believe them. Hey I bought 1.75 liters of Jim Beam when this started getting serious. Usually a bottle like that lasts me 4-6 months, but the way things are looking I may need a new one by May -- so if we look to be shutting down liquor stores before then I may have to make a panic buy.

Grocery stores sell liquor here, so we will be fine. LOL

I guess I just have to laugh at the notion of the fear pf spreading this thing, but a high risk group alcoholic should have access to liquor to prevent alcohol withdrawal death...while going out and getting exposed.
