Coronavirus

mb.

You may want to add that the death is a 90+ year old man in Matagorda County, who was already in critical condition from age and other disease problems.

Is this basically the flu?
I'm avoiding news and social media because that ****'s crazy
I know I can count on HF for less crazy and some funny

Pretty much. Stay home. Drink water. Rest up. Cough into your elbow. And as a former poster said, wear glasses if you need 'em. You'll be running the hundred meters in the Olympics before you know it.

Somebody please explain to me why wearing a mask will keep me from giving it to you, but not from you giving ii to me.

Should I turn the mask inside out to keep from getting it?

We put them on sick people so when they cough or sneeze it contains the “stuff”.

People today are such pansies. Just use a damn wash cloth and rinse it out in the sink after use.

I have a real solution. Get yourself a garden spray bottle

Fill with a combination of water, a little mineral oil, a little bit of vinegar and your favorite scented oil. Pump it up and spray yourself clean. Use a washcloth to pat dry and you have a clean *** that smells like a garden.

All health care worker are wearing them.
There are different masks. First, wearing general masks in public are not protecting you from Covid 19.

To protect from Covid, it’s needs to be a N95 mask which are in limited supply. Hospitals are actually struggling on when to deploy. Anesthesia believes they need them for all cases because of the undetected cases. Hospitals are largely limiting to verified cases.

And again, it’s a cold virus. Yes, deadly to the compromised but nearly always beaten by the uncompromised.

From my company, I learned the following entities will be testing shortly: CVS, Quest, and Labcorp. I thought we had a testing deficiency? Where did that story go?

I’m honestly not familiar with the pathology side. I don’t think CVS has lab testing though. I think the issue is most organizations maintain JIT inventories. That doesn’t cover emergencies.

So the National Review (yes, its still around) actually has a new piece on this very topic, by Jason Richwine

"As I see it, libertarians who have no plans for enforcement can oppose the entry of terrorists and disease-carriers *in theory* all they like, but in practice they have no objection."

There are no libertarians in a pandemic. I thought you knew?

The staff wear them when around a suspected patient. But healthy patients and visitors don’t wear them. I fought that battle with an over reactive quality manager. We would have used all of our inventory in 8 days.

We still have a testing deficiency. We could do ten tomorrow. We are getting a new load of flu swabs soon adding 100 more to capacity.

The story is that we could have used the WHO tests like 8 weeks ago. They had 1.4 million for us. Then the tests we developed were problematic at first and now still have some false positives.

Actually, the 1.4million tests were available to the WHO at the end of February, which is two weeks ago not eight weeks ago. At the same time (Feb 29th) the CDC had 160,000 tests distributed that would work by dropping the third of three different tests involved with the kit.
Don't let the facts stop you from your usual criticisms, however.

Dude, I said it was “fake news”. I didn’t edit it. I owned the error. The truth is we lost a good 2-4 weeks in a world where we are buying time.

We did lose time because the government schmucks at the CDC, once again, failed us. In the future, just hand it over to private industry asap.
