Facing Addiction

We live in a small little ski town in Colorado. The resort just shut down. The County issued a public health order. No gatherings of more than 50 people. If under 50, no one over 60 is permitted to attend and social distances shall be strictly enforced. No closer than 6 feet for more than 10 minutes. People are not to be seated either side by side or directly across from each other. This includes such businesses as churches, restaurants, etc. Everybody. All businesses are being encouraged to close. If an employee is presumed positive, or was in close contact with someone presumed positive, the health department is making them shut down for a least 2 weeks.
Most of the businesses here are mom and pop shops and can't afford to be shut down on what is one of the busiest weeks of the year. The employees are mostly hourly wage earners and live month to month. I'll be surprised if the town survives if this goes on for any significant period of time. Or it will take years to recover.
One of our friends up here is a self-employed nail tech. The spa she works out of was one of the first to close as business died. She has no income. She's broken her lease because she won't be able to afford rent next month. She's moving in with us until she can figure out what's next.
Hysteria is hurting a lot of good people.
